Chapter 210: Mistaken Information

"What do you think? Whitebrige is filled with people of magic Cassian! Is this really real? Or are we imagining things?" Madeline asked her loving husband once they were left alone in a room.

"I don’t really care as long as they eat human food too." Was all Cassian could say as he leaned against a window, and Madeline hurried to his side, placing both her hands on each side of his shoulder, her beautiful dark orbs sparkling in wonders.

"This is a sign Cassian, maybe coming here isn’t a bad idea, and did you hear Osvaldo? He said my Mother was a fae, I don’t know what it means yet but it should have something to do with magic, we could get the answers we need and ask for their help to fix the barriers, and everything will be back to normal, Carmarthen will be safe again and I’ll be able to find the culprit responsible for my parents death, everything will be..."

Madeline paused when she suddenly took notice of the way Cassian stared at her. His Amber-brown eyes flickered with warmth, and there was a slight smile on his lips as he listened to her blurt out whatever she had to say in a burst of outshining hope.

"Why did you stop?" He asked, and when she said nothing, his hand gently slid to the back of her neck, his fingers getting entangled with her hair, and the next thing he did sent her heart racing as he pulled her head forward, and leaned down a bit to drop a lingering kiss on her forehead, a hearty action that led Madeline to close her eyes as the warmth of his lips on her forehead sent her system awakening with happiness, and his lips lingered a little longer like he wanted to leave an imprint before pulling back to stare into her eyes.

"Always be happy like this, no matter the situation." He said softly, and Madeline’s eyes flashed with gratitude as she nodded her head in response, and then he took a deep breath as his demeanor softened into a concentrated manner.

"There’s something I want to tell you." He began. He found this opportunity to be the perfect time since she was already in a good mood, and Madeline said nothing, but her eyes held silent inquiries that prompted him to speak up.

"The truth is I... I’m actually in--"

*Knock! Knock! Knock!*

"Dammit!" Cassian cursed underneath his breath as his moment of confession got ruined at the last minute, and Madeline’s mind was also swayed from what he had to say as she looked in the direction of the door.

"I’ll quickly get to the door to see who it is."

Smiling at Cassian, she turned around and quickened her footsteps to get the door. When she was no longer looking in his direction, Cassian felt like punching the glass window to ease his frustration, but had stopped himself.

No, not the glass, the glass didn’t do anything, the one who needs this punch most is the villain who chose to interrupt him in the middle of his confession.

"Surprise, I guess they do eat human food." Madeline teased Cassian as she rolled in the cartwheel that had different varieties of scrumptious delicacies on them, and Cassian’s anger gradually subsided at the sight.

No, his villain can’t be food. Maybe this is a sign to stop him from confessing so plainly. If he wants to prove how serious his love for her can be, he’ll have to plan something big for her, something he knows she’ll love, something that’ll make his confession one she wouldn’t forget.

He snapped his fingers. "Yes!"

"Yes to what?" Madeline asked randomly as she dished up their plates, making Cassian realize he just exclaimed the word ’yes!’ a bit too loudly.

"Ah.. you were saying something earlier, what was it?" Madeline asked, stopping half-way in what she was doing to hear him out, but Cassian shook his head, averting his gaze elsewhere.

"It’s not important for now. I’ll quickly freshen up and join you."

"I have to fill my stomach first before I find the strength to bathe." Madeline asserted as she continued to fill up her plate, and the young lad shook his head at the hunger in her eyes before going to the wardrobe to find a towel or something.

"Osvaldo is more friendly than his brother." Madeline commented, "the two of them are like a version of your personality."

"And what does that mean?"

"Well, this minute, you can be unpredictably cheerful, the next minute, you’re a grumpy hag." She imitated Cassian’s frown with folded arms. "Like this."

"Urgh! Keep quiet and fill your stomach before I help you out myself." His expression contoured into one of half-disdain, watching his wife make fun of him, and Madeline wanted to say ’Told you so!’ but couldn’t since he had already threatened her to keep quiet, so she could only eat her food quietly.

"I’ve been meaning to ask." Madeline looked at Cassian, "Osvaldo says you’re the first son, but you say Abbot is the first son?"

"I’m confused too." Cassian picked out a white towel from the hangers. "My Father was already married to Juliana when my Mother figured she was pregnant for him. It was during the day of my Mother’s deliverance that the news of Abbot being born escalated. We were born the same day, but at a different time."

"Your Father was already having an affair with Juliana before the marriage?"

"No." Cassian shook his head slightly, "it was an arranged marriage. My Mother was not from the highest social elites, so my grandfather was not in approval of her, and Father, Father didn’t stand up for Mother which led to his Marriage with Juliana."

Madeline’s eyebrow cryptically knitted. "Then how is it possible she was able to get pregnant and give birth on the same day with your Mother who should have already been a month gone? I don’t know much about pregnancies, but the math doesn’t really add up if your father never already had some kind of relationship with her before the Wedding."

"Are you saying...?" Cassian paused mid-sentence and shook his head. "It’s not possible, I don’t think Mother would deliberately hide the truth from me or everyone. She couldn’t have lied about the actual time I was born, Osvaldo has to be the one mistaken."
