Chapter 203: Brother Battles (2)
The night grew immensely darker, and the only sound that could be heard was the fierce clanging of metal as two sharp swords kept colliding in a deadly clash. The rain dropped heavier, its pattering sound adding to the intensity of the powerful clashes from both brother’s who swung their blades repeatedly, and no one had the intention of lowering their guard.
Drenched in the pouring rain, both brothers remained unaffected by it as they had their mind set on taking the other down.
Elijah charged his twin sword at Elian with lightning speed, making the first attack since Elian showed no forward motion of striking first. Their swords clashed for the umpteenth time that night as Elian defended it, and his defensive instinct only aggravated his brother who angrily gnashed his teeth, his fangs elongating in displeasure.
Elian parried each blow with effortless grace, and unlike everyone else Elijah has had to face, Elian knew his moves better than anyone, cause they did most of their training together when it came to balancing their abilities while using the twin blade. Although it had been many years, Elian was still familiar with his techniques, showing how much of a good memory he had when it came to this type of thing.
"Fight back!" Elijah tried to persuade his brother who only defended his attacks, but to his annoyance, there was no sign of any incoming attacks from his side. Although his movements were graceful and skillful, they lacked the force of conviction.
Elijah’s sword whistled through the air as he made another swing, and Elian dodged it with a swift side-step to the left. He had his reasons for holding back, and the situation would have been entirely different if Elijah had refused his offer.
"Why won’t you strike?!"
Elijah was starting to get impatient, and he took the opportunity to strike again. But this time, he found an opening, and that led him to pierce his sword straight into Elian’s ribs, the tip of the blade piercing out from Elian’s back as blood splattered on Elijah’s clothing.
Still, Elian only let the blade pierce him without saving himself from the attack, but he wasn’t spared from the intense pain the twin blade brought.
With the blade still deeply lodged in Elian’s flesh, Elijah twisted it into his flesh and leaned forward to whisper. "Why won’t you fight back? Don’t you want to live? Are you not in pain?"
Feeling the blade being twisted inside of him, Elian gripped onto the hilt with Elijah’s hands still firmly secured on it, his strength seeping out from the effects of the blade. Blood ran down his lips, making Elijah freeze a little, and he heard him say.
"As long as you fulfill your promise to me, then kill me. Get rid of me if it satisfies you."
"Fight back, you idiot!" Pulling his blade out of him, he punched Elian deep in the gut, and that sent him flying back till he crashed into a broken carriage that was abandoned in a corner, completely destroying it.
"Are you trying to make me feel guilty? Get up and fight!!" In a flash, he had reached the area where he had thrown Elijah, and he grabbed onto the collar of Elian’s shirt, pulling it so Elian’s blurry gaze could look at him.
"Fight. Back! This was supposed to be a fair fight." Elijah roared angrily with the thundering sound that flashed deep in the dark sky.
"I choose what I want this battle to be, and if you choose to be the disgusting weakling, then I shall do you the honors of getting rid of you."
Elijah’s finger curled around Elian’s neck, grabbing it tight against his clawed grip, his fingers elongating. "Did you know, a vampire fully dies when their bodies are burnt to ashes, or they die when their head is snapped from their neck, shall we make this quick?"
Elijah’s dreading voice did nothing to affect Elian, but the pain in his bleeding abdomen did as he winced silently. Elijah’s merciless gaze shifted to his brother’s bleeding abdomen, and his lashes fluttered frantically, watching the bloodstain get washed away by the pouring rain.
"You.... brought this upon yourself, and it takes away the fun in killing." Elijah uttered, his hold on Elian’s neck suddenly loosening, and he shook his head. "I can’t kill you like this."
*BANG!!*
The sound of a gunshot being fired in the air stole their attention. Whipping his head to the left, Orson was standing a few distance away with his gun pointed threateningly at Elijah, his index finger resting on the trigger.
"Get away from him. You bloody criminal." And he fired the gun at Elijah who hissed out in annoyance as he let go of Elian, luckily evading the heat. Wisely, he slipped into the darkness at the corner of a building before the bullets could meet him.
"Darn it! How is he so fast!" Orson let out a breath, his racing heart calming at the thought of Elijah retreating instead of reciprocating the attack.
"Elian?" Inna hurried to his side, going on her knees as her worried eyes scanned the deep fatal wound that had been inflicted on Elian. She inspected it, not minding the fact that she was getting drenched in the rain.
"Are... are you okay?"
Elian didn’t respond as his eyes stared at the young lady in front of him. In truth, this was the first time he was getting stabbed by a twin blade, and now he understood the immense pain it brought to Cassian.
Wait! How was it possible they knew he’d be here?
"How did you know..."
"Orson and I weren’t far from the Palace when the charade happened, and we got to know about Elijah’s attempted plan." She said quickly, trying to stop the flow of blood from his injured part.
What Inna couldn’t believe was how someone would be so cruel to hurt his own twin brother in this manner. He really had the intention of killing him if Orson hadn’t stepped in.
"Hey, are you alright?" Orson asked after standing beside Elian, but Elian frowned at him instead. "You shouldn’t have come here."
"That’s not the thank you I was expecting to hear." Orson retorted, finding that statement quite offensive, but Elian cared the least about what he thought, and he winced when Inna tied the material against his wound.
"You... you ruined my plan, I needed this death."
"Just stop talking." Inna silenced Elian, not enjoying how he kept mentioning death. "We’ll take you back home, and I’ll tell you what Orson and I have planned."
"Why tell someone your plan when you don’t trust them?" He muttered, seeing it as of now use if she didn’t trust him, but Inna wasn’t ready to argue this one out with him as he was already hurt and bleeding.
She helped him to his feet, draping his arm around her shoulder. "I’ll tell you when we get home either way."
