Chapter 202: Brother Battles (1)
With his feet dropping silently to the red carpeted floor, Elijah’s menacing gaze became visible as he took off the hoodie of his cloak, his contempt-filled gaze staring at the old gray-haired man dressed in Royal embodiments. The calmness of his expression, the way he was at peace with himself while sleeping, like there was not a single trouble in the world for him, only made Elijah clench his fist tight till his knuckles turned whiter, and a look of fury consumed his gaze.
Taking closer step’s to the bed, Elijah’s gaze shifted to the single twin blade in his grasp, the edges of the sharp blade glinting against the penetrating moonlight, and all of a sudden, the rumbling of thunder in the air snapped him out of his dark thoughts, and he looked back at the window, staring at the lines of lightning that flashed in the sky above.
"Even the thunder is here to take your soul away. Why won’t they make you suffer?" Elijah turned to look at the sleeping figure on the bed, and something malicious flashed in his red glinting eyes.
"You don’t deserve to live."
Raising the sword up in an attempt to stab the sleeping King, the door to the room was instantly kicked open, disrupting Elijah’s moment. Alarmed, Elijah raised his head up to see who had entered, but was stunned to see Alaric standing at the entrance, his shocking gray colored eyes expanding in horror as it shifted from Elijah to the sword that was raised, and then to his father.
"Who are you?? And what are you doing to my Father?"
More of Alaric’s guards rushed into the room, pointing their weapons at the frozen intruder. Seeing his glinting red eyes that shone with malice, Alaric was awestruck after coming to the conclusion that he was staring at a vampire. But this vampire, the look in its eyes, gave off a more negative aura unlike Cassian.
Instinctively, Alaric drew out a sword from one of the guards waist, and when he wanted to lunge an attack at the intruder who dared to commit treason, the second glass window broke, with pieces of glasses soaring in their direction in a swift motion.
When Alaric and his guards looked away to avoid getting hurt by the flying glasses, from in between his fingers, Alaric noticed a vague figure that rushed past with lightning speed, heading for the intruder, and with a tackle to the Intruder’s abdomen, it had the two strangers falling off the window.
"Wait!" When the glass pieces finally settled on the floor, the two Intruders were nowhere in sight. The guards hurried to the window, peering down, but the two intruders who fell from the window had vanished through thin air.
"There are... more of them." Uttered Alaric in disbelief.
Meanwhile, Elijah was being harshly dragged by his red hair down the empty street, far away from the palace, and when he tried to resist his attackers hold, he got viciously thrown to an abandoned building, sending him breaking through the walls with force and crashing to the ground.
It had begun to drizzle lightly, and Elian’s glinting red eyes shone with anger - an anger he could no longer hold back as he watched Elijah rise to his feet with a low chuckle echoing through the walls of the empty quiet street.
"Are you insane???" Elian raged, "how many more blood will you take, how many more lives will you deprive the right to live till you become satisfied??!!!"
"I’ll take as many lives as I can till I eventually become satisfied." Elijah answered calmly, dusting off the dust from the shoulder of his shirt, and he returned his lazy gaze back to Elian who stood out in the drizzling rain.
"I could have killed that old man, but you ruin things for me." He sighed, "why do you keep getting in my way? I’m looking for reasons not to end your pathetic life Elian, but instead.... You give me reasons on why I have to get you out of my way."
"I can let you get away with taking the lives of others, but I won’t let you make the mistake of harming a family member. Stay away from Father."
"He’s not my father." Elijah strongly disagreed, "believe it or not when I say he’s also the reason why we’re like this. If he hadn’t left us in that stupid traditional home of ours, if he didn’t abandon us there in the first place, we wouldn’t have been abducted. We would have been great people Elian, we would have been normal like everyone else, but now we’re murderers, monsters, lingering in the darkness and hiding from the light. You have no fucking right to stop me from getting my revenge."
Elijah rubbed his forehead with his cold palm, and then he laughed painfully, "you should have seen his face, he looked so peaceful, and that is something we can never have. He probably doesn’t remember we once existed, why would he? He never bothered to find us, and do you know what I had in mind? To stab that peacefulness off his face."
"Stop!" Elian silenced his brother, unable to take anymore of it. "Blaming Father or anyone else won’t make us human Elijah. You speak about others but let’s talk about you, you let the monster behind our predicament brainwash you so badly that you can’t think about anything else except the hatred and the urge to kill every soul out there. Why did you think I left in the first place? I didn’t want to end up in the likes of you and you know this behavior of yours is damn wrong!!"
"I know I have done a lot of bad things." Elijah accepted it without hesitation. "I’m sorry I couldn’t be a good brother to you, I lost my mentality ages ago and sold every being of me to the devil. I am a walking psycho, and you can never get me back, nothing you say will bring me back to the Elijah you once knew, so my advice to you, kill me first, or get killed."
He raised his blade at Elian, but Elian, for the first time, hesitated. "You don’t have to do this. What will it take for you to get rid of this hatred? There has to be another way! You can’t keep living like this and letting that monster control you!!"
"I’m in too deep." Elijah whispered, "there’s no turning back on this one now fucking raise your sword let’s end it here!!" He yelled out the last part, and Elian’s fist balled tightly in anger and pain.
He brought out both his sword, but seeing as Elijah only had one blade now, Elian chose to play fair by throwing his second blade, setting it aside. "If I end up dying in this battle, then can you make me a promise? One I need you to fulfill as a brother Elijah! Will you do it??"
"What do you want from me?" Elijah’s eyes narrowed Instinctively, and Elian took a deep breath.
"When you’re done getting the satisfaction you want, the peace you desperately crave for, before you end your own life, I want you to kill the monster who made you do this, kill the monster who made me hate you for this, can you do this??"
Silence reigned between the two of them, and the drizzling of the rain kept the silence company. Elian knew there was a decision to make, if he couldn’t get to the mastermind, then he’d get Elijah to do the job, but all that strictly depended on Elijah’s approval.
"Till I breathe my very last breath." Elijah’s eyes darkened as the thunder above resounded in the dark empty street, and with the flash of a lightning, he raced towards Elian with his sword raised.
