The Baroness Misbehaves -
Chapter 153: The Foreign Wife
Chapter 153: The Foreign Wife
"Whitebrige city?" Alaric’s brows creased inquisitively, not looking too surprised as he’s always found the Whitebrige city to have a rare aura emitting from it. He’s only ever taken that route when he had outside meetings to attend, and the natives of Whitebrige city have always looked queer and secretive about themselves, but he never allowed himself to think too much of it.
"Where can I find this woman?" Asked Alaric, his gaze stern and demanding as he signaled for Cassian to apply more pressure, but before the young lad could commence with the evil idea playing in his head, the Fiend he had trapped started speaking in a fast tone.
"I don’t know where she is, my duty was to find and eliminate her before she gains power, but you came in my way after abducting me and ruining everything!!" Its ink-black eyes gave away its hostility, locking his disdainful gaze with Alaric who shifted his cold attention to Cassian instead.
"Can you get rid of it?" Asked Alaric, and Cassian grinned. "Do you underestimate me? Your Majesty?"
Smirking at his illicit response, Alaric crouched down to one of his knees and dropped the key close to the entrance of the cell door. Rising to his feet, he patted the frozen Duke on his shoulder, jolting the awestruck man to the present and signaling they should both take their leave and attend the luncheon meeting.
"Join us when you’re done." He said, and the Duke looked at his son for a brief moment before turning and following the King as they exited the dungeon. He had many questions to ask, and the first thing he needed to know was how Cassian made it this far while keeping all his achievements and tribulations a secret.
"Sigh....that little rascal." He whispered before shaking off the thought from his head.
Finally alone, Cassian released the Fiend who instantly got to its feet in the nick of time, its raging eyes were set on Cassian as it didn’t wait a second before lunging an attack and pouncing on Cassian, but the Young lad was more than prepared as he grabbed hold of the Fiends neck on time, his slender fingers gripping the neck like sharp claws as he slammed the body to the wall with force.
"I really thought you were better than that."
"I will KILL YOU!!" The Fiend struggled as it tried to claw at Cassian’s face, determined to get its revenge, but Cassian’s grip on its neck tightened mercilessly, squeezing every ounce of air from its throat.
"If you know what is good for a mortal like yourself, you better release me!!" The Fiend warned, still trying its best to speak. "There are more of me out there, even if you kill me, I will make sure to haunt your entire existence, do you hear me?"
"You talk too much. It makes you look more pathetic than me when I first mutated." He sighed, fuelling the Fiend’s anger, and in a dangerous attempt to free its neck that was being desperately held in a choking slam, the Fiend succeeded in clawing a finger at the side of Cassian’s face, drawing out blood.
Cassian’s gaze darkened with further amusement, and when he returned his stare to the Fiend, the Fiend who thought it had succeeded at some point, soon regretted it as it took notice of the red beams staring intensely at him.
"I’m guessing the child’s play is finally over." Saying this, Cassian threw the Fiend across the cell until its back came in contact with the hard-iron bars, and a muffled groan was heard as the Fiend fell to the ground with force, blood escaping from its mouth.
Seeing its own blood being spilled, the Fiend couldn’t get any angrier as it rose to its feet, but before it had a chance to strike, Cassian threw a hard punch at its face, sending the Fiend rolling to the other end of the cell, its teeth clenched in fury and pain.
In no time, the Fiend was covered in bruises and blood, and it smelled like the blood Cassian had perceived on Elian that day, making him aware of what the young Vampire had been up to to have their blood on him.
"Do you know why I’m getting rid of you?" Asked Cassian as he strolled to the side where he had the Fiend weakened to its spot. He reached for the hair, helping the Fiend up to its feet by tugging the hair harshly.
"I’m getting rid of you cause the owner of this body won’t be in peace seeing a filthy thing like you take over it." His nails grew. "There is something I’ve learnt, and that is how well I need to use these nails." He smirked, revealing his fangs.
In an instant, Cassian’s nails sliced through the Fiend’s neck in a clean cut, the blood splashing against the walls. Releasing the Fiend he had slaughtered, Cassian watched the lifeless body disintegrate into tiny ashes.
"Whitebrige city." Cassian hissed out, thinking of all the things the Fiend had uttered. "Fae, witch, and a human." Cas’s lips pursed as he remained in the silent-filled cell, hoping that none of this has anything to do with his innocent wife.
At the wide office that took up a whole floor, Duke Richard cleared his throat before moving closer to whisper to King Alaric who was busy with a file in front of him, but also appeared to be at sea as he stroked a finger under the tip of his nose.
"Your Majesty."
"Yes? Duke?" He answered, his gaze unshifting as they raked through every word on the file in front of him.
"I never really gave much thought to what I’m about to say, but for safety reasons I think I should tell you." Richard curtly began. "The late Baron of Carmarthen, I did some research considering the carriage accident he had with his wife and daughter. I needed to get more info for promising reasons, but his late wife looked quite foreign to be a native of Carmarthen. Rumors had it that she stepped into Carmathen after marrying the late Baron."
Alaric’s gaze raked the rest of the council who were still coming up with a decision he had ask regarding what Estate should be provided more shelter and protection. With their attention side tracked, Alaric looked at the Duke and whispered.
"I’m not acquainted with the late Baron you speak of, but my father should."
"If you want me to, I can find out more about the Late Baron and his wife."
