The Baroness Misbehaves -
Chapter 122: Torture
Chapter 122: Torture
After having some delicious meal to fill her hungry stomach, Madeline rested a bit, and when she woke up after a few hours of sleep, the sky had darkened, and Cassian was nowhere to be seen, as expected.
Sitting up on the bed, Madeline glanced around the room, having nothing else to do but stare and admire the beauty of her new room. Curious to see what Cassian’s house looked like on the outside, Madeline gently slipped out of the big comfy bed.
Standing on her two feet, her footsteps were silenced by the comfortable carpet on the floor, and even though she remembered Cassian’s order to not get out of bed just yet, Madeline had a feeling that she would die quicker if she sat idle on the bed for much longer.
Convincing herself that she also needed a little walk to strengthen her weak bones, Madeline stepped out through the heavy wooden door of Cassian’s grand room, only to enter into a bright and inviting hallway.
Her already big eyes grew bigger when they took up the neverending sight of the hallway, and her lips parted in wonder as she took quiet steps through the adorned hallway, gently running her fingers through the wall to feel its texture.
The walls were adorned with intricate wood paneling, framed by tall columns of white marble that ran the length of the hallway. The floors were made of a glossy wood that was impossibly polished, forming a smooth runway beneath her bare feet, and it felt cold to the touch.
Madeline’s footsteps echoed softly as she walked deeper into her new home, and as always, everything was perfectly placed in where they should be.
She continued on to the spacious living room, where she was greeted with a vast space illuminated by the light streaming in from the floor to ceiling windows that flanked the walls. The ceilings were high, and the room was decorated in rich, warm hues, with plush sofas and armchairs huddled around a grand fireplace.
"His house is beautiful." Madeline couldn’t stop herself from commenting as she took in more than his lovely home had to offer.
Making it towards the grand dining room with an enormous chandelier hanging from the ceiling that glittered and shone. The long table was positioned in the center of the room, surrounded by velvety chairs with ornate gold frame work. The walls of the room were adorned with grand paintings of landscapes, replete with rolling hills, vast mountains and fields of flowers.
As Madeline continued her walk, weaving through rooms filled with grand furnishings, wallpapered walls and delicate chandeliers, she felt a sense of awe wash over her. She had never seen such simple grandeur in her life, and she felt really grateful to be experiencing it right now.
Her eager feet led her to the grand library, row upon row of books lined the shelves that went from floor to the ceiling, with grand armchairs and a small table by the window, providing a relaxing space to indulge in a good read or ponder life.
"I am just as surprised as you are." Inna’s voice made Madeline turn to look at her. "He had a house of his own, yet he never bothered to mention it to anyone."
Madeline barely realized she was cold, not until Inna draped a warm coat on her shoulder, and she felt the comforting warmth emanating from the soft fur coat.
Stepping outside of the house with Inna by her side, Madeline looked back at Cassian’s simple porch, struck by its unadorned beauty. It was a stark contrast to the elaborate facades of the other houses in the neighborhood, but it had its own charm that drew her in. The wooden chairs and table were simple yet tasteful, and she could imagine sitting there with Cassian over a warm cup of tea.
The cool night breeze brushed past her, rustling the leaves of the trees and carrying with it the scent of blooming flowers. Madeline let out a contented sigh, feeling at peace as she sat there, taking in the sights and sounds around her. The cool breeze played with her hair, and she closed her eyes, feeling the moment wash over her.
"This is more relaxing than having to stay in that no-peace mansion." Inna also relaxed on one of the wooden chairs. "I’ve always known Jeremy to be dim-witted on many occasions, but to think he would do something so disgusting...I should have given him a slap of my own."
Madeline smiled faintly hearing Inna take her side genuinely, but she was honestly worried about one thing. If word about this eventually gets out, then the people will blame her and accuse her for seducing, and Madeline really hopes Cassian doesn’t do anything extreme.

’BANG! BANG!’
"You piece of shit!!" Jeremy cursed out loud when both his palms were shot and pinned to the table in his confinement. His attacker was so fast that he had no time to prepare himself before he got mercilessly shot, the sound, echoing dangerously in the tight space.
Orson watched the young lad who had now hidden his face with his mask, take unhurried steps to Jeremy who was silently grieving over both his hands that were pinned to the table by bullets. His bleeding wouldn’t stop, and it was just his pure luck that Cassian couldn’t risk getting any blood that isn’t his wife’s blood into his mouth.
Orson felt the need to speak up before Cassian goes out of line with this, yet he didn’t have courage to interrupt.
"If you keep screaming out, everyone might assume I’m committing murderer." Cassian, whose identity was hidden under his mask, spoke coolly to Jeremy who’s eyes had reddened from anger and silent torture.
"How dare you pin my hands to the table?!! You have no idea who my father is! I swear to God you’re gonna fucking pay for this."
"Are your hands really stuck?" The man in a mask sounded shocked, and his expression would easily make one believe that he wasn’t the cause of it, but then, a menacing smile curved his lips.
"Allow me."
"No no no, wait...AHH!!!" His hands that was ruthlessly pinned to the table, was forced out as Cassian pulled his hand away, and Jeremy could barely stand the torture.
What he wasn’t aware of was the fact that Cassian was trying to destroy the hands he used to touch his wife. He wanted to reveal his identity and murder the idiot, but remembering his promise to Maddie, he couldn’t take the risk.
"Listen to me." Nonchalantly grabbing Jeremy’s hair and throwing him back onto his seat, his cold blistering Amber-brown eyes stared deeply into Jeremy’s, and he asked.
"The content, what is the name, and who exactly gave them to you?"
