Chapter 242: Funeral House
Chapter 242: Funeral House
10 days after the saint’s death.
Dong!...Dong!...Dong!..
The clock reached 10 am.
The funeral house was filled with so many nobles in black funeral attire. Outside the funeral house, commoners were gathering in front of the gate, saying that she didn’t deserve to die. Her death was planned by someone who wants Romos to fall into the hands of demons.
Since a saint was the symbol of holiness, her absence will gravely impact the upcoming war. Without her power, Romos was hopeless.
Right after the bell rang, the crown prince finally woke up. It took him 10 days from recovering from his terrible state so after he woke up, he found himself drenched in sweat. An odd smell was coming from all over his body but somehow, it resembled roses but rotten.
"What is going on?"
He tried to sit but a throbbing pain made him go back to his previous position. He looked at the ceiling that he used to see a lot when he was a child.
"This is the royal infirmary. But what am I doing here?"
Suddenly, he saw a man sitting right next to his bed, peeling an apple. His hair was white but it had a hint of silver that matches his deep silver eyes.
It was Viktor.
After seeing his face, things that happened before he lost consciousness began to replay in his head. And that’s when he couldn’t help but become suspicious of his acts.
"What just happened?"
"Oh, you’re finally up. Good morning, young prince."
He tilted his head a bit to his left and saw the clear face of Viktor, peeling an apple.
"What..what are you doing here?"
"What am I doing? As you can see, I am peeling an apple for you. You must be hungry. Come on, try to get up on your own."
As the prince tried to lift his torso, he noticed a slight change in his body. His mana core was heavily injured.
He placed his hand on his chest and said, "What happened to my body? What happened to my fiance?"
"Oh, is your head still filed with roses?"
"N..no. I just feel like I was under some kind of spell. My fiance... wait... was she even my fiance?"
He looked at Viktor with a pale complexion and finally realized what had happened. "My god.. what have I done.."
"No need to cry over spilt milk. Now focus on your future and figure out what do to with your mistakes even if you’re not directly involved."
"She’s dead. Isn’t she?"
The room became silent as he asked the question to Viktor. But he didn’t expect Viktor to smile after all those things had happened.
Still, he blamed Viktor.
"If you knew how to lift the charm spell, why didn’t you use it on me before? Why!!"
He grabbed Viktor by his collar and barked, "Do you know how many people died because of you!!"
Viktor pointed the small knife to his neck with a smile. He was calm, smiling and his complexion didn’t look like he was sitting in front of a crown prince.
"Child, think before you raise your voice when you’re talking with me. Did you really think you’d listen if a nobody like me? She was a hero with a system. A hero you guys summoned. So do you think I’d get away with my life after I kill her without any solid evidence?"
"But still!! Those people!!"
"I am not a hero. I am someone who doesn’t care about anything than my life and Adonis’ life. I don’t care if a whole planet gets destroyed. As long as Adonis and I are alive, that’s all that matters."
"So you’re happy with your wife living on a planet alone huh? You’re a scum."
"Eh... pftt... ahaha...."
After laughing for a few minutes, his mood immediately shifted to cold and asked, "Wife? I don’t have a wife though. What are you even talking about? Adonis is my knight. And I am okay being a scum. It’s better than saving lives and taking responsibility. That’s not my job. It’s your job and your failed."
"You’re a citizen of Romos. Of course, you have a responsibility to save and help people."
*Sigh...*
"Kids are harder to deal with. I was correct, I am not good with dealing with annoying kids even after living for this long."
He threw the apple through the window instead of giving it to him and stood up. He then walked near the exit and looked back.
"Kid, my job is finished here. Unless you don’t want to be addressed as an idiot scum, learn to accept your mistakes instead of blaming them on another person. You’re more scum than me if you blame it on another."
THUB!!!!
The door to the infirmary closed with a bang.
*Sigh...*
"Yir, aren’t you going back?"
Yir was always with him for the past few days because of his master’s order. For that reason, no matter where Viktor went, he tagged along.
Even in the bathroom when he took a shower.
Yir nodded his head and smiled faintly. "I was ordered to aid you until you are heading back to Helsia. Since Lord Adonis cannot help you with the job you gave him, he thought sending me would help you."
"I can take care of myself, Yir. You know that very well."
"I am a servant, my Lord. I am here to aid you, not to help you," he chuckled and looked outside to see the thunderstorm. A thunder stroke on the tomb of the funeral house, making the guests startled.
"Kiki is angry," Yir sighed and again said, "My Lord, what are you going to do now?"
"Kiki is angry huh? Of course, he is. A hero just died. And about my job, we are going to continue what we planned and leave for my next quest."
.....
Somewhere in the corner of the royal funeral house.
Viktor looked at the small cube by narrowing his left eye and chuckled a little. It was the small parasite which was inside the hero’s dead body for 10 days.
The small parasite was collecting information slowly without revealing its presence to the tower system by Uranium’s command.
After 10 long days, it collected data as much as it could and came out of her body when Viktor went closer to the coffin and placed a flower near her body.
’Uranium. Did you check what this small bot has collected?’
He used his telepathic skill to ask Uranium and it answered immediately, using the small earpiece he was wearing deep inside his ear.
*From my calculation, if we want to take over their control, it would take about 10.4 billion years. The information the small bot has collected is nothing but a drop of water from a vast ocean. I will recommend following System 009’s advice and looking for the ’KEY’ as he instructed. It would only take a minute if we got access to the tower system and shut it down permanently.*
He shook his head in frustration and said, "Follow his instructions, huh? Before that, I need to hunt down the dragon lord and immediately leave before the system can tie me up with another death tag."
*MASTER, it looks like someone is approaching you.*
Since the system had a direct link to his visions, Uranium could see everything he was seeing. He made a link because when he talks, his mortal body becomes vulnerable to far-distant attacks.
So when he talks with Uranium, Uranium takes care of his surroundings and gives him updates when he’s not paying attention or dozed off.
"Ah, I see."
A girl with a black mermaid tail gown approached Viktor with a glass of champagne. She looked dashing, her eyes were sharp and her deep blue hair resembled the water of the blue sea.
With a faint smile, she said, "Hello, I am Natasha Velmot. May I ask for your name?"
With an indifferent expression, Viktor replied, "I am Viktor E. North. It’s a pleasure to meet you, young lady."
Viktor slightly tilted his head to his left and smiled faintly. "May I help you?"
"Ah, I thought you must be sad because of her death that made you stand in the corner all alone. So I wondered if I could help somehow."
"You’re so thoughtful, lady Natasha. But I am alright. I was her professor and I aided them on their journey for the past 4 months. A bond was indeed made between us. It’s just, it feels unreal to see a saint, a great figure of our empire, who is dead because of some nasty curse."
Natasha smiled awkwardly and finally, she decided to show her real face. "I heard she wasn’t cursed. Her death was planned."
"My my, lady. What are you talking about? Planned? Murder? You must be joking."
Natasha chuckled and replied, "Mhm...If there is smoke, there is always a fire."
Viktor then looked at her book and opened it out of curiosity. And that’s when he saw an unbelievable thing. It was so huge that it made Viktor speechless for some moment.
’Anti Hero party? Sent by the 7 lords? And they are all planning to attack Romos after a few years? Heheh.. but sadly, the demon lord will be going on a vacation to get a key. You see, I am a very busy person who’s thinking about saving his own life. I have tasks on tasks on tasks that they’ve piled up like a huge building.
I have to deal with the elemental guardian realm and save Earth and the rest of the small part of the universe by making Ifrit the god, I have to take care of Name, that trypophobic freak, I have to DELETE a whole tower and save Kobayashi’s territory, to do that, I need to finish a quest and go to a whole different planet just to search for a damn key, I have to cultivate my core to 5th stage so I can join the succession tournament and finally face Elesis, I need to deal with Lucifer and build my business.
But my damn instinct is telling me there is more waiting for me.
*Sigh....*
"Man... I really need a vacation..."
Natasha looked at Viktor by narrowing her eyes and asked, "What are you talking about? Excuse me, are you even listening?"
’Oh...I forgot that I was talking with this kid-_-. Ugh... Adonis...save me...’

Somewhere in Helsia.
*Achooo!!!!*
Adonis was shocked that he sneezed when he was supposed to be free from any diseases because he was a demigod. So he complained, "Is someone talking behind my back somewhere?"
