Chapter 240: Hero’s death. 3
2 months until the dragon lord quest deadline.
A week later the heroes accepted the quest, the emperor became a little furious because they weren’t strong enough to face it. But he eventually had to accept it because sooner or later, the hero party had to face the demon lord.
But his worries didn’t die down. To ensure their safety, he personally requested Viktor to aid them. They were all happy because a trusted person was going to accompany them but deep down, Viktor knew it was all a part of someone’s plan.
To Viktor, it was nothing but coincidence. Everything was happening as if someone had prepared his stage beforehand. It was growing suspicious.
As he was enjoying his afternoon tea, a person rushed into his room and went to the balcony where he was having his peacetime.
"Sir Viktor!!! We have a problem!!"
Viktor looked at the servant who rushed in and asked, "Is something that matters?"
"Y..yes! The saint, she’s not in her good condition. She’s coughing up blood! The crown prince has requested to use your healing magic on her."
A grin appeared on the corner of his lips. He then put the tea cup down and stood up. "Yir, we are going to harvest a soul."
"As you wish, my lord."
But the servant couldn’t figure out whom he was talking with. He simply followed Viktor in a hurry and decided to forget what he heard.
•Soul harvest•
It’s a term where a God or a demigod or a ’Guardian’ who has the fragment of God captures a soul from a newly dead mortal. It stops a soul from walking the path of reincarnation and becomes a spirit that works like an item. It doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong because it’s solely based on a god’s wish. After all, he is the creator of the universe and not bound to any rules or regulations.
If a god wants to stop a soul from walking the path of reincarnation, he is free to do it. If he wants to destroy a planet or a whole universe, he is free to do it. And, if a god wants to eat a soul, he is also allowed to do it.
A soul of a mortal is a type of energy, a food that doesn’t really help a god gain something. But many do this out of curiosity, due to rage, anger, sorrow, happiness or even celebration.
It varies from god to god but it’s true that once in a god’s lifetime, he has tasted a mortal soul. And that’s what Viktor was going to do.
....
....
The room was filled with healers from all over the empire. They were all gathered around a luxurious bed, covered with golden silk and a soft phoenix feather mattress.
To fix her illness, the healers were emitting a green hue out of their hands that seemed to be some kind of high-class healing magic but that didn’t help at all.
Her health wasn’t improving at all and that made the prince worry. He was crying by holding her hand, desperate to hear her voice once again.
Of course, he was under the charm and it was still working because she was alive. The charm he was carrying was so dangerous that his life was in danger.
The emperor knew his son’s condition so he requested Viktor to heal his son beforehand.
Yes, it wasn’t for free. Viktor charged the emperor a huge sum of cash.
...
The moment Viktor entered the room, a blow of air filled with rose aroma kicked into his nostrils. It was the effect of the saint’s charm magic so he had to clean the air by using wind magic secretly.
He hated the smell of roses but it’s beauty.
He then approached the saint and saw her body was genuinely skin to bones. Not an ounce of fat was in her body that made her skin look rough like dried ground. Most of her hair was gone and wrinkles appeared all over her body.
The beautiful saint with dark galaxy hair, rose lips and eyes filled with dreams were gone. Now, it was just an old, wrinkly, smelly lady who was on the verge of death.
Viktor stood near her head and took off his hand gloves to check her pulse. It was slow and he also sensed a deep curse connection to the tower system.
*Uranium, record her system for 5 minutes.* he mumbled under his voice and commanded Uranium to capture the type of curse she was suffering from.
Why 5 minutes? Because that’s how much time she had to live until her death.
*Understood, MASTER.*
A small parasite-like rader entered her body under Uranium’s command and started to collect information.
"Sir Viktor, please heal her. You are our last hope. We couldn’t do anything with our power. Our healers are exhausted after fully emptying their mana cores. And still, it wasn’t enough to heal her health."
Viktor nodded his head and cast holy magic on her but intentionally, he reduced the flow so the tower system could detect it and delete it as a cheat.
As he hoped, the system deleted the flow.
He then showed off a sad complexion on his face and put on his hand gloves. "It’s a curse of the god. I’m afraid my holy magic isn’t powerful enough to lift a god curse."
’God curse my a** -_-. I can’t wait to check the result and harvest her soul. She’s a great material for my experiment and lastly, my food.’
The whole room became silent as Viktor announced it was a curse of a god. The prince burst into tears and grabbed Viktor’s legs to beg.
But Viktor already had cast healing magic on him as promised so the moment he started to beg, he lost his consciousness and fell.
The whole room became chaotic as they saw the prince lose his senses because he couldn’t bear the sorrow in his heart. To calm the situation, some healers carried him to the next room to heal him and let him rest.
Viktor stepped back slowly from the saint and let the other heroes bid her goodbye. But Viktor in the corner of the room was plotting something else.
Since he was a demigod, seeing spirits was a normal thing. So he was also able to see new souls forming in the womb or a mother, a reincarnated soul going inside a newly formed baby, a soul coming out of the body.
He could even see the soul of a man walking around in confusion when his body was in a coma. So naturally, he was about to see the soul of the saint coming out of her body in a minute.
Viktor put his hand inside his dimension pocket and took a magic scroll he prepared before going inside the tower. However, his plans were busted by the system 009 and he never had to use it.
But it was the best time to use it because a soul travels so fast and to capture it, he needed a magic scroll that slows the time of the target.
"Yir, now you need to get closer to her and pull her out from her body right at the moment her soul gets separated from her vessel."
"Shall I bring her to you after I capture her?"
"Yes. I will be waiting outside in the garden."
Viktor then turned around and vanished into the darkness of the corner of the room. But nobody noticed it because they were all busy with the saint who was going to die. The only thing they could do is to pray and hope she’d ascend to heaven.
....
....
Yir’s POV :
’It’s been a while since I helped a soul, huh? I can see her soul is corrupted to the point of being barely recognizable. If I were the past Yir, I’d kick her and make her fall deep into hell without hesitation. But it’s different now. I want to see what my Lord does with her soul. He’s probably going to eat it, I presume.’
Yir changed his attire into God realm’s natural attire and wore the erring that Viktor gave him. It was gold, emitting a golden hue and it was made with one of the best infinite mana stones.
It was a golden mana stone that allowed him an infinite supply of holy magic.
With that earring, he was as powerful as a great god.
Yir stepped on the table next to the bed and looked at the soul who was about to leave. As mortals can see spiritual beings right before their death, the saint looked above and saw a person standing right next to her head.
Yir extended his hand to her and said, "Poor soul. Do you want to become a part of my lord?"
His smile, his radiant glow and his incomparable beauty made him look like a god to the saint’s eyes. She mumbled with the remaining energy in her body, ’Is that you, god?’
Yir didn’t answer her question and pulled her soul out of her body. Her soul took the form of her previous look the moment Yir grabbed her hand and took her outside.
"So this is the afterlife?" She hushed and looked at Yir and his beautiful golden pair of wings.
"Excuse me. Where are we going?" Even in her body-less form, she tried to use her charm magic on Yir but sadly, it didn’t work. Instead, a part of her soul got separated from her body and flew to Yir.
"W..wait... I didn’t mean to do that. I am sorry." Naturally, she knew every part of her soul was important so she wanted to take it back. But Yir already took it and gave her a grin.
That made her think about whether she made the right choice to hold his hand or not.
"Um... where are we going?"
"You’re going to meet the Lord of all living records. Behave when you see him. Maybe he will show some mercy."
"W..What? Lord of what?"
Yir didn’t even pay attention to what she said afterwards because he was eager to see what Viktor would do with her soul.
