Chapter 218: A corrupted saint

Viktor’s staff comes with so many functions. From attack magic to shape-changing, it is an all-in-one type of staff that only operates when the owner touches it.

Since he had to carry the staff all the time to ensure his safety, he made a function that turns its actual size into an earring. It was also easy to carry around so he wore it all the time instead of carrying it in his hand.

So Viktor wore the erring before entering the classroom and then, he stopped the heroes from appraising his status. Not only that, the otherworldly saint was trying to use charm magic on him but sadly, none of them worked because of his multifunctional staff.

Viktor chuckled behind his book and said, "Today’s lecture is over for now. Those who want to join the practical class, please form a group with other students from class 1 and gather on the training ground at 2 pm. Please bring your staff or wand, wear a safety suit and bring healing potions if you feel like you need it. See you at 2 pm. Class dismissed."

The moment Viktor was going to walk out of the classroom, the saint grabbed Viktor’s overcoat and said, "P..professor, can you explain this magic circle again? I can’t understand it well." She looked at Viktor with her eyes and emitted a charming aura. But no charm spell works on Viktor and he was too old for old honey traps so he replied,

"If you were attentive to my lectures instead of flirting with the prince, you’d understand it already. I don’t give personal lectures so excuse me. I have other classes to attend."

Viktor then walked inside class 2 for his second lecture without wasting a second.

The saint was shocked.

She said, "It’s odd. Why didn’t my charm work on him? Also, I didn’t feel much mana from his body when I touched his clothes. My skill works even if I touch a person’s clothes instead of his skin. My skill is saying that he has less mana than me. But why didn’t my skill work against a weaker opponent?"

At that moment, Akira approached her and said, "You are forgetting something. This isn’t your world and you’re not the main character in it. So don’t try to make every man fall for your dirty skill. Even though we have godly skills, this is a magical world. Stay alert all the time if you don’t want to get caught off guard."

She turned back quickly and saw Akira had already left for the training ground. She glared at his back for a minute and said, "It’s you who’s acting like a main character. I wish I had his great hero skill because my dominance would become greater. My charm isn’t powerful enough to control a big crowd."

She then went inside the restricted library of the academy by manipulating the guards with her charm magic and decided to stay there until it was 2.

But who knew Viktor only went inside class 2 to meet with the teacher who was about to retire?

Since the restricted library of the academy was only available to the teachers, Viktor received a key from the principal. He had some work inside the library so after meeting with the teacher, he walked closer to the library and felt the charm magic aura in his surroundings.

’Ugh.. this reek of roses... I’m sure that kid used her charm magic on the guard to enter the library. But what is she doing inside?’

He opened the door after showing his teacher’s ID to the guard and slowly entered. The door shut on its own and he used floating magic from the staff to stay silent while walking. He slowly flew to the centre of the dark library and saw the saints reading a banned book of black magic. Not just her, but another person from her world was with her.

Viktor sat above a tall bookshelf to see what they were doing and suddenly, he noticed a huge magic circle. It wasn’t her first day at school without any doubt because the circle she drew was a heavenly guardian-level magic circle. Not only that, it was a summoning circle, a beast-summoning magic circle.

It was already entertaining to Viktor so he sat and paid attention to their conversation.

"Are you sure this is going to work?" A boy asked.

"I followed this book’s instructions. I’ve also tried to summon spirits at home but they refused to form a pact with me. I don’t have a trusted companion so now I’m going to summon a magical beast. I hope someone from the book of legends comes out."

Viktor frowned his eyebrows and said, ’She’s talking about the book I bought from an old shop, isn’t she? I’m sure she said the book of legends where someone wrote down the legends and monsters’ names and their whereabouts. I am not sure but with her tremendous amount of mana, something big might come out.’

Viktor secretly cast a barrier around them and opened the book of legends. There were 106 legends listed so there was a chance someone might get a summoning request because of the magic circle.

But she made a mistake while drawing the summoning magic circle. Instead of making a link to the ancient living beings on Erok, she drew a monster summoning circle and drew it in the opposite direction at that.

So there was no guarantee whether a monster or a demon might get summoned. Even there was a chance that a human might get summoned with that.

Viktor mumbled, ’Is she attending this school for doing shady stuff? How is the principal not noticing it? And she’s inside the library where all the teachers are supposed to research magic. Why is she here?’

Viktor then felt an invisible eye floating around the barrier. It was a type of magical surveillance camera trying to get inside the barrier but it was strong. It was actually the strongest barrier that Viktor uses.

’So she was under surveillance of someone.’

At that moment, she activated her magic circle and it began to glow. After a couple of seconds, the circle made a small electric spark and then turned off.

Viktor held his laughter back somehow and flew out of the barrier to laugh.

"Ahaha!!!! What did I even expect from those dumbs? Ahaha!!"

Suddenly, he received a signal from Keya in the small magic item she gave. It was a small messaging device that demons use to communicate quickly.

*My Lord, the demon king has prepared an arrangement for your arrival in our territory.*

He quickly typed on the floating screen on his arm and replied, *How is the situation in devildom?*

*Our people are waiting to see your face. They wish to follow you. It’s getting difficult to maintain the crowd because they all want to go to the mainland. The kind has ordered the border guards to tighten security.*

*I guess I need to go tomorrow then. Oh, a quick question.*

*Yes, my lord?*

*The principal of this academy is half-demon. Isn’t he?*

*Looks like you figured it out, my lord. Yes. He is neither human nor a demon. That’s why he’s not interested in the fight between demons and humans. Since he was loved by both of his parents, he doesn’t hold any grudge against any of them. It’s a mere coincidence he took you in as a teacher. Please don’t kill him. He is a good child.*

Viktor chuckled after seeing her text and said, "Well, it’s best to keep this news secret from him until I visit Devildom. But before that, I need to take a practical class. It’s nearly 12."

The two heroes went outside the room after cleaning the floor where they drew the magic circle. Viktor followed them a minute later.

...

Surprisingly, class 2 of elites were far greater than class 1. He was surprised by those students’ manners, intelligence and skills. It made him happy so he asked, "Most of you students are from noble families, right? Your progress is very good. I have high expectations from this class."

Viktor closed the year report of the students written by the retired teacher and again said, "

The top student replied, "Yes, professor. But the majority of the top students of the academy are commoners. Unlike us who lived inside our family estate until the age of 15, the commoners are stronger because they have lived in an open environment since birth. They started hunting at a very young age and practised magic after they turned 5."

"Hum, but you’re wrong. Everyone can grow stronger if they work hard. If you have all your limbs intact, have mana and have enough willpower, nothing can stop you from growing stronger."

"But how is that possible, professor? Isn’t our mana becoming weaker as we grow old? Learning from a very young age sharpens one’s body."

"That’s true, but magic has no limitation. If you have mana and know the correct path, even if you turn 100, you can still cultivate that small amount of mana to live a thousand years."

The students couldn’t laugh because Viktor wasn’t some ordinary professor. He taught a magic circle to the students in an hour that took the retired professor a whole month. So they had no choice but to believe in his words.
