The call was from Cao Songxin.

Ji Yang and his party turned the car around and headed back.

Upon returning to the county, Ji Yang found several team members entering his office with somber expressions on their faces.

Seeing them come in, Ji Yang asked, "What’s happened?"

Cao Songxin hesitated for a moment before replying, "We’ve received word that there may be personnel adjustments in Chunshui County."

Ji Yang grew curious; he had not been informed about this matter in advance, so how had they suddenly come up with such an idea?

"What exactly is going on? Everyone, sit down and let’s talk."

After everyone had seated themselves, Ji Yang also took out cigarettes and offered them around before lighting one for himself.

Lu Xiuli said, "It seems that we might be transferred away from Chunshui County, and new officials will be parachuted in from above."

The construction of Xincheng was underway, and this sudden move left Ji Yang somewhat puzzled.

"Is the meeting in Quyang City tomorrow to discuss officials related to this?"

"No news has come through," said Cao Songxin, "but I suspect it’s not about adjustments to our county’s officials, but rather some other changes."

"However, Secretary Ji, everyone’s a bit panicked."

Ji Yang looked at Cao Songxin and could tell that he was also anxious. They had all thrown in their lot with certain people, and now that those leaders in the city had been replaced, they had lost their protection, and it had become difficult to obtain information. Just then, his cellphone rang, and when Ji Yang checked, he saw that it was a call from Chu Shuyuan.

Seeing that Ji Yang had a call, Cao Songxin took his leave.
