Chapter 427: Chapter 427: Going to the Countryside

With materials being transported in by the truckload to Xincheng, the construction had fully commenced. The area had turned into a massive construction site, with everyone deeply engaged in the construction work.

Ji Yang, though still busy with many things, was not as rushed as before. He spent his days in the office listening to reports and occasionally went down to inspect the work in person.

The development of Xincheng was like a locomotive that could drive the growth of the entire county. Ji Yang could not neglect the other towns and villages. He was now studying the development of these areas too.

Chunshui County consisted of one town and eight villages. The old county seat was in Chunshui Town, and there were eight other villages. With the construction of Xincheng, which was located in one of these villages, Daba Township was inevitably on the fast track, and the next step would be to lead in development ahead of Xincheng.

The construction in Xincheng influenced the development of at least five villages. However, there were still three villages that could not benefit from it, and today Ji Yang planned to visit one such village called Kuzhu.

Ji Yang intended to visit this village, located deep in the mountains, where there were virtually no roads. The villagers had to walk several hours on mountain paths each time they ventured outside.

Joining Ji Yang were his secretary, Su Zhiping, and his driver, Gao Changjun.

These two were now considered Ji Yang’s trusted aides, selected by Ji Yang himself after various discreet evaluations. Particularly the driver, Gao Changjun, who was a former special forces soldier with excellent combat skills. Even Ji Yang, who was very strong himself, could see that Gao Changjun was quite capable.

The three wore straw hats as they walked along the mountain path.

Su Zhiping, familiar with the terrain, led the way, so Ji Yang did not worry about getting lost.

"Secretary Ji, Kuzhu Village has a population of over three thousand. It is one of the smallest and hardest to manage villages in the county. The population is scattered throughout the mountains, with some villages having just a few households."

Su Zhiping had been sitting on the cold bench in the county government for many years. Now that he had been brought on as a secretary by Ji Yang, he knew it was his opportunity. He had done his homework well. Since Ji Yang was visiting Kuzhu Village, Su Zhiping had thoroughly researched the situation.

"Hasn’t the county ever looked into the problem of roads?"

Now that province-wide road construction plans were in effect, it was surprising that there was still a village without roads, which somewhat shocked Ji Yang.

"Secretary Ji, you are aware of Chunshui County’s situation; previous leaders did not prioritize this area."

Ji Yang did not respond further, understanding that this issue was due to the previous leadership. Now that he was in charge here, he was naturally determined to focus on this issue.

"The first thing to address is the road problem. Roads are being built everywhere, and for a village, having no access to roads is unacceptable."

Ji Yang couldn’t help but feel exasperated, not expecting such a situation.

Su Zhiping added, "Secretary Ji, there were plans for road construction in the past. It was supposed to be a winding mountain road that would connect the village to the town center if constructed."

Ji Yang did not say much more, standing on high ground and looking around.

Previously, it was believed that the county had no tourist resources. But now, surveying the surroundings, Ji Yang realized he had been mistaken; South Dian was full of mountains which were themselves beautiful landscapes. If developed, these could indeed become attractive tourist areas.

Currently, what Xincheng lacked most was tourism. If he could develop this area, perhaps it could bring about a change?
