Chapter 135: Chapter 135: To Each Their Own Game
Several days later, Ji Yang noticed that although the public sons who arrived were largely divided into a few major factions, most of their time was still spent pursuing their own pleasures.
Today, he heard that Ning Weisheng had entertained some visitors from the Capital City and then took them up the mountain with hunting rifles to hunt.
Hearing this, Ji Yang could only shake his head. These public sons were earnest at first, indeed attracting a good amount of investment, but before long, their true nature emerged. They were all fond of fun, constantly calling friends to join them, turning this place into a playground.
In light of these events, Ji Yang followed Chu Shuyuan’s advice: ignore them and just do his own job well.
Ji Yang had expected some cadre adjustments, but that hadn’t happened; things remained as they were with the original cadre team, which actually eased his mind quite a bit.
Lately, Ji Yang had established a regular daily routine, coding words for his online novel after his official duties were done. There wasn’t much else he could do; at most, he was responsible for making arrangements for the visiting investors.
Sitting in the office, Ji Yang opened the novel website.
To his slight excitement, his novel had successfully made it through the fourth round of recommendations and now boasted over fifty thousand followers. This book seemed promising!
After a chat with the editor, it sounded like the response was good, with an impressive readership. The editor mentioned something about Three Rivers or a similar recommendation coming next week.
After the chat, Ji Yang continued typing.
Sometimes, Ji Yang felt that being an official wasn’t that difficult. As long as he delegated the tasks to others and guided the overall direction, there really weren’t any problems. He was still a junior official with much to do personally, but when one day he would have secretaries to draft his speeches, life would be even more comfortable.
Then there was a knock at the door.
After minimizing his writing, Ji Yang called, "Come in."
Miao Xiaoying entered.
"Chief Ji, the hospitality expenses have somewhat exceeded the budget!"
Ji Yang let out a wry smile, "Just report the situation to Chief Li. It’s up to them to deal with it."
"I just wanted to let you know."
At that point, Miao Xiaoying took the initiative to top up Ji Yang’s hot water before saying, "The cadres are getting restless again."
Ji Yang knew she was referring to everyone courting different leaders’ favor and said, "Don’t worry about those things. Just focus on doing your job well."
"By the way, they’ve started to hire nannies."
Ji Yang looked at Miao Xiaoying.
"This isn’t my doing. I don’t know how, but those nannies who had issues in the past took the initiative to apply for jobs, and then they just started hiring them."
Ji Yang was somewhat speechless. After some incidents, the guesthouse had reorganized, and several problematic nannies were dismissed. It seemed they had offered themselves for hire again.
"Is someone helping them?" Ji Yang didn’t believe this was happening without someone pulling strings behind the scenes.
"Recently, Wu Guoping and Chen Yongwei’s relationship has risen rapidly. They often arrange activities together, and Fang Yong, the former guesthouse director’s brother, also seems to get along with them quite well."
"Are you suggesting that they are behind these things?"
"Wu Guoping is getting closer and closer to Chief Li now."
Ji Yang understood; from the current situation, Wu Guoping had aligned with Li Xiaoming, and Chen Xiaowei also wanted to get close to Li Xiaoming, so they might have formed an alliance.
"And Fang Yong?"
"He used to help his sister find beauties."
"Has he gathered those dismissed ones?"
"It’s a possibility."
Wu Guoping seemed to be making rapid progress! The former Wu Guoping was the type to look down on others, but now he could collaborate with Chen Yongwei, indicating his quick growth.
If the public sons got involved with those trained women, it would be hard for them to leave.
"Why don’t they court Chu Ning?" Ji Yang was somewhat surprised.
"Somebody’s already approached her."
"Who?"
"Liu Yun."
Ji Yang looked at Miao Xiaoying, not expecting Liu Yun to stir trouble again.
Miao Xiaoying said, "Seeing Liu Yun turning to Chu Ning made it impossible for them to do the same. They turned towards Li Xiaoming instead. I’m not sure if Liu Yun has made a direct approach, but she has indeed referred several dismissed nannies, arranging Chu Ning with a younger nanny from Lu Shijie’s household."
Well, these people had already started to make their moves without him even realizing.
Of course, Ji Yang didn’t want to interfere too much. Given that they were all public sons, meddling in their affairs might lead to unwanted resentment, even if it was for their own good.
"What should I do next?" Miao Xiaoying asked.
Ji Yang pondered for a moment and said, "Why do I feel like there’s going to be trouble in the township again?"
Miao Xiaoying softly laughed, "I had already observed it. Those people are all public sons. They’re not accustomed to hardships. After some repression, they’ve reverted to their old ways. After the Li Family took over Director Qian’s residential compound, many renovations were done, and a luxurious bath center was built there."
"You just keep watch covertly. Don’t get involved."
"I’m not that foolish. Despite their impressive family backgrounds, their capabilities, well, haha."
Miao Xiaoying was a smart woman; she understood the situation very well.
