Chapter 159: Lunar reckoning 2

The howling outside stopped.

"Who.. who could be howling outside?" Aegis asked, getting irritated.

"Go check it out," he waved his hands, and walked towards his chambers.

Faunana gritted his teeth, and rolled his eyes, "Why is he backing down all of a sudden?" He arched his brow.

"You dare challenge the king Faunana! Where is your respect?"

"He does not deserve any form of respect.. not from me!"

The howl echoed again through the night air.

"It seems that pesky wolf wants a battle of some sort, who is that? How did he get in?" Faunana frowned.

"Let us go find out," Kaid suggested.

"No way Faunana, and the rest of you with him are coming with us, you are traitors!" Aether scoffed.

Nox, one of the guards who had taken Faunana’s side stamped his foot, "Oh well, let us see how you take them down without us!"

"We will be so fine without you traitors!" Aether gritted his teeth.

Nox clenches his fists and moved forward, but Faunana held him back.

"Be calm, let them be. Since they can handle it, let them," he said calmly, and led them away from the rest of the guards.

The howl echoed again, obviously summoning them to war.

"Let us go confront whoever is howling. He does not know who is challenging!" Kaid growled, and they all followed his lead outside.

"You do not know what you doing? They are obviously summoning them to war, and you are just going to let it happen?" Risa asked, her eyes popping out of their sockets.

Aegis shrugged, "What does it matter?"

"They are guards, not warriors!"

"They are Lycans too! Do you think they are petty omegas just like you are?"

She gasped, her cheeks burning with anger, "I.. you can not call me that!"

He sighed, and faced another direction, "Whoever that is, and whatever he came here for, would obviously flop."

Risa stamped her right foot, "Stop talking nonsense! You just want to get them killed!"

A smug smile appeared on Aegis’s face and he faced Risa, "Hm, you are quite smarter than I thought. Yes, yes, I do want to get them killed."

Her face fell, "Why?"

"Probably because I do not need them. Those guards are a bunch of traitors. The only Lycans I need around me right now, are my warriors, not those silly guards," his lips turned downwards, putting his hands behind him.

"You.. you are so evil! They trust you! They even guard you with their own life! Why are you being so cruel?" She yelled at him, her veins popping out all over her face.

Aegis’s eyes grew dark, "I would advice you not to raise your voice, I am not you child who you can just yell at."

She clenched her fists, "I am going to tell them what a horrible King you are to them!" She walked towards the door furiously, but Aegis held her back.

He twisted her hand, drew her backwards, and flung her to another part of the room.

"You seem to be taking my patience for granted. Well then, I have to take care of you myself," he cocked his head to the side, an evil grin plastered on his face.

"I might be a bad person myself, but one thing I can not stand is betrayal! You want to betray those who trust you!"

He rolled his eyes, "Shut up, do not act as if you are one perfect creature. You betrayed your sister too, hmph, taking her place, acting as though you are her?"

Risa’s eyes drooped.

He sniffed, "I smell blood in the air. I am quite bloodthirsty too," he shrugged.

She tried to stand up, "I am not as bad as you are," she gently shook her head, "I can still change it, I can still change everything," she clenched her.fists.

"I do not care what you are going to do, I am still going to do what I wanted to do."

He sighed, disinterest flashing in his eyes, "You still will not learn.. will you?"

He growled. His arms shortened, morphing into muscular forelegs. His hands transformed into paws, claws extending like sharp knives. His face elongated into a snout, nose flattening, and his teeth sharpening.

Soft, gray fur sprouted from his skin, covering his body like a wave.

His eyes turned primal yellow, burning with a primal intensity.

He rose on four legs, towering and powerful. A majestic creature, untamed and free. He gave a long, haunting, howl.

Risa’s chest began to rise, and fall in sync with her heavy breathing.

He walked over to her. Standing in front of her, he sniffed her out, and a deep growl escaped him.

Her heart skipped a beat, was he going to kill her in this way?

Without thinking, she poked her middle fingers in his eyes. It yelped, and jumped backwards, trying to recover from what Risa just did.

Using this as an opportunity to escape, she got to her heels, and rushed to the door, but was not quick enough to open it.

She heard a raging growl behind her, and she panicked, trying so hard to open the door.

There was a mad rush, and she sensed he was coming for her. She quickly dodged his blow, and he broke through the door.

"Oh my goodness, what should I do?" She bit her nails. For once, she wished she had silver around.

"You have to do something, unless you will nothing less than all fur, and bones."

Her eyes brightened when she remembered something, her mirror! She ran to her wardrobe as fast as she could, and brought out her mirror, "This should do," she said breathlessly.

It broke through the door again, and rushing madly at her.

She was all sweaty, and shook uncontrollably as she tried to point the mirror in his direction but she was shaking too much, and couldn’t even hold the mirror properly.

It was blinded by rage, and could tear her apart in one blow.

Without thinking twice, she pointed the mirror at him, and looked away, her limbs shaking like a leaf.

It stopped in its tracks, and yelped, slowly shifting back into a human. When his shifting was complete, he lay on the ground without moving.

Risa sucked her lips in, and quickly ran out of the room.
