Chapter 139: Claiming her domain

The session with Aegis was quite an easy one. Nyx was able to gain his trust quite quickly.

She slumped on her bed, in the room she was being given to. She looked at the ceiling, a corner of her lips curved up in a smirk.

"Thank the moon goodness, now I have gotten his trust, I will be able to start my plans," she closed her eyes, trying to take the moment in, "this is my moment, do not screw it up."

She sat up with a crease on the brows, "I had said I wanted to be his adviser, hmph, o really do not want to do anything like that," she closed her eyes, and sighed.

There was a knock on the door, her senses immediately became alert.

"Who is it?"

"It is the cook my lady," a voice responded from outside.

She got down from the bed, walking towards the door.

"What does the cook want all of a sudden?"

She opened the door, "Yes?"

"The king wants to treat you to a special kind of menu. What exactly are your tastes madam?"

She raised her brows, "May I know why her wants me to be treated with a special menu?"

He shrugged, "He says you are his special adviser, and needs to be treated with care."

She arched her brow, "Okay?"

"Yes my lady," he bowed slightly.

She sucked her lips in, "I see."

He nodded.

"I love roasted meats, fish, seafood, sweet diahed, stews, braises, and wine."

He blinked, "okay my lady," he bowed, and left.

She rolled her eyes, "ugh, I will be as fast as possible. I do not want these people around at all."

She was about to go back when a hand pulled her back.

Her eyes widened, "Wh-"

"You are alive? How come? I thought I had killed you?"

Nyx tried regaining her balance, "who-" she managed to regain her balance.

"Risa?"

"How are you still alive?"

She dusted her shoulders, "oh please, do you not have other things doing? Leave me alone," she gritted her teeth with irritation.

"How? How are you alive? What happened?"

Nyx scoffed, "what happened is that I am way ahead of you. You thought you were smart, but I am only lucky," she grinned.

"Are you? I knew you were dead! Probably this is some kind of prank or something?"

"Prank? Oh, do you think I am fake like you are?"

Her heart skipped a beat, she clenched her fists, feeling the urge to just slap her across the face.

"I am not fake! You are the fake one here!"

"At least I did not pretend to be someone else."

She gulped, trying to regain her composure, "uh.. I.. am.. it is.." she stuttered.

"Whatever you have come here to do is just a waste of time. One thing is for sure, I will make sure everyone of you pays," she held her head up, a smirk on her lips.

Risa gulped, "what... What are you doing here? You should leave from here at once!"

"No. I have come here to stay!"

Risa flinched, Nyx was being a little more stubborn.

"Where.. did you grow these wings from? What have gotten into you?"

"I am not the Nyx you knew six years ago. I would like to say I am now q completely changed woman."

"You.. are.. I will kill you again!" She yelled, and made to hit her, but she was quick to counter it.

"Do not dare it Risa, please do not try annoying me. I am not as nice as I was before."

Risa blinked, what was going on?

’This is not the Nyx I used to know, what has gotten into her all of a sudden?’

Nyx let her hands fall by the side, "ugh,you are making me waste my time on such an unimportant matter. Please, go away, stop being a pest," Nyx sighed

"What do you mean by that? You.. I will make sure I finish you off!"

"For what? It is not as if you are going to have Oberon anyway," she chuckled, "so forget about it," she grinned, turned around, and entered her room.

Risa stood outside the door, her mouth agape. She blinked her eyes in shock, trying to process everything that just happened.

"She slammed the door on my face.." she gritted her teeth, her eyes popping out.

She took some steps backward, her teeth clattered as she tried to take all what Nyx had said.

"She.." her back gently hit the wall, her cheeks on fire, "she is different.. she really is not the Nyx I knew back then. What.. how did all these happen?"

She exhaled deeply, trying to calm her raging self down.

"I will definitely make her pay.. this is the worst thing she has ever done to me," her fingers slowly reached her mouth, and she bit them.

"I will make her pay. I know she did not come here to be Aegis’s adviser, she came here for something else, and I will dig it out, and makes sure Aegis knows about this."

Nyx sat at the dining table beside Aegis, a warm smile on her face. Risa was disheartened to see that Aegis paid no attention to her that evening. All of his attention was now on Nyx.

"Aegis, you are literally choosing her over me?"

He shook his head, "She holds more importance than you do," he said coldly.

Nyx felt a corner of her lips go up in a smirk.

’I am just beginning,’ she smiled to herself.

"Aegis, I have just thought of something," she battered her lashes, "Since the last battle with Oberon failed, what else have you been doing?"

He dropped his spoon when she said this, "Well, I can not decipher what his movements are. I have to be very careful if I want to ever attack him again."

Nyx chuckled, "Hmm. What exactly do you want to do?"

He clenched gritted his teeth, "I do not know. I have still not thought of something. Well, you are here, you should be able to help me. What do you think I should do?"

She closed her eyes, and sighed, "I think you should go after him. If you let him come to you, he will come with a full force, and you might lose another battle to him."

"So what do you suggest I do?"

"Go look for him, you could also.. uh.. in the process sabotage his plans," she shrugged.

He nodded, "would that be a good idea? I do not think so."

"What else do you have in mind then?" She squinted her eyes.

He sucked his lips in, "I.. do not know."

Risa was listening to them, Nyx was now against Oberon?

’What is up with Nyx? Why is she suddenly against Oberon? He needs to know about this!’

"I hope you do not have.. uh.. traitors?Risa’s heart skipped a beat, why was she bringing that up?

"All of them are loyal to me. I can vouch for that," he said with a hint of pride in his eyes.

"Hmm, I think you are being overly confident," she turned her gaze to meet Risa’s.

Risa quickly looked away, her cheeks flushing with anger.

"Risa? Tsk, she is too dumb to do anything of a sort. Do not worry about her," he said carelessly.

Risa’s jaws dropped, a kind of lump she couldn’t swallow formed in her throat. She tired hard to fight back the tears that were gradually forming in her eyes.

She stood up, "Excuse me," she said quietly, and quickly walked out.

Nyx almost snickered but she placed her hands on her mouth.

Aegis did not care much, all he wanted was an advice to bring Oberon right into his trap.

"Is she angry?" Nyx faked concern.

He rolled his eyes, "she is not important as of now, I am thinking of better things, she is so not included."

Nyx shook her head, "well, I guess so," she muttered to herself feeling pleased

Risa walked furiously to her room, her eyes burning with tears. She felt so insulted, first she had been tongue lashed by Nyx, as if that was not enough, Aegis had just called her dumb.

"All because of her? What is so special in Nyx?" She stamped her left foot on the floor.

She reached the door of her room, flung the door open, and angrily walked into the room, her heart pounding.

She sat on the bed, her head hanging, "why does it always end this way for me? Oberon never loved me, now Aegis has directed all of his attention to Nyx the minute she came!"

Tears flowed down her eyes, her head pounding.

"What else have I not done? Why do everything I do go wrong? Nothing, nothing at all works for me," and closed her eyes, more tears racing down her cheeks.

"Killing her did not work? What else can I do?"
