Chapter 263 - 261: Strength in Numbers
Chapter 263: Chapter 261: Strength in Numbers
Compared to warriors, Su Ausis leaned more toward spellcasters. Fighting four dragons in a confined space as a spellcaster was absolutely irrational.
So Su Ausis transforming into a sand whirlwind and flying out of the pyramid had nothing to do with cowardice or fear of the four dragons... Judging by their sizes, these dragons were all Adult Dragons—not the disgraceful True Dragon like the White Dragon, nor the substandard Black Dragon. Anyone would have to think twice before confronting them.
The sand whirlwind moved incredibly fast, rivaling the flying speed of a Djinni. In an instant, it flew out of the pyramid and landed on a pillar next to the grand pathway outside... Previously confined to the main burial chamber where visibility was poor, now outside, Su Ausis could clearly see that half of his pyramid had been dismantled by the four dragons.
He wasn’t entirely dead. He still had emotions, his eyes could move, and even his heart could beat—though it didn’t need to. Yet realizing that the pyramid, crafted with meticulous effort and countless resources, had been reduced to half its original glory, almost made him spit out a mouthful of blood... if he still had any left in his body.
As soon as the sand whirlwind exited the pyramid, Leon immediately gave chase, only to spot Su Ausis standing atop the pillar.
Since the enemy was already prepared and he had lost the chance for a first strike, Leon didn’t rush to attack. Instead, he said, "You can’t escape."
"I never intended to run," Su Ausis replied. "You’ve torn apart my pyramid. I won’t let this go."
"You won’t let it go? I won’t let you go either." Leon straightened his posture, standing taller than the pillar.
"What makes you think you have a right to be angry with me?" Su Ausis’s voice sounded agitated. "I didn’t provoke you. You barged into my territory without permission and destroyed my pyramid without saying a word."
Leon was momentarily at a loss for words. After thinking hard about why they had traveled such a long way to get here, he said, "It’s because your pyramid suddenly appeared deep in the desert. It’s because your pyramid seems to be holding many treasures and valuable knowledge."
"Thieves," Su Ausis remarked.
"Yes, we’re thieves. But you’re no saint either," Leon habitually criticized others from a moral high ground. "Hidden away in your pyramid, you must be hatching some insidious plot—to conquer the world and drag it into the Abyss of darkness."
"Brother, why waste words with him? Just kill him and continue dismantling the pyramid," Salovis rushed onto the scene.
She was a bona fide Evil Dragon, never bothering to justify her actions. Doing whatever she pleased, she continued, "There’s definitely more treasure inside that pyramid."
Salovis didn’t hold back. As she spoke, she lunged at Su Ausis, only to be struck by a greenish energy from his raised, withered finger.
It was Death Finger, a spell that inflicted severe pain on the target. If a humanoid were killed by this spell, they would reanimate into a zombie permanently obedient to the spellcaster.
As a Young Red Dragon, Salovis naturally couldn’t be killed outright by a single Death Finger spell, let alone turned into a zombie. However, the agony disrupted her movements, causing her to crash face-first into the sand.
It had to be said—Salovis was fierce and impulsive. Even after falling to the ground and enduring the excruciating pain, she immediately sprang back up, ready to attack Su Ausis once more... Truth be told, her actions hindered Leon, who was wary of hurting her. Whether it was Samadhi True Fire or Hand Palm Bomb, Leon couldn’t use them freely.
"Impudent little Red Dragon," Su Ausis sneered coldly as he rose into the air, hovering above the ground. He muttered Command Truth under his breath. Command Shock struck Salovis and rendered her unable to resist, leaving her stunned and frozen in place.
In the game, Command Shock only affects targets with Life Points below 150; otherwise, it has no effect. Ordinarily, as a Young Red Dragon, Salovis’s Life Points would certainly exceed 150. However, having just endured a Death Finger spell, her Life Points had dropped below that threshold.
With Salovis incapacitated, Leon seized the opportunity—or rather, forced himself to create one. He feared that Su Ausis might cast a Command Death at any moment, ending Salovis’s life outright.
There was no doubt—Su Ausis was extraordinarily powerful. If he unleashed a series of spells, killing Salovis, a mere Young Red Dragon, wouldn’t be impossible. The disparity between them was significant.
Whether it worked or not, Leon tried anyway. Since activating his Fearsome Presence required no mana expenditure or effort, he triggered it as he clenched his resolve. Unsurprisingly, it had no effect.
Immobilization spells were pointless, certainly incapable of restraining Su Ausis. Leon opened his mouth and cast Samadhi True Fire, only to be caught off guard by how quickly Su Ausis executed Mysterious Steps, teleporting away just before the fire could hit him, leaving Leon’s flames to scorch empty air.
Ultimately, it had to be Hand Palm Bomb. Leon raised his hand and unleashed a bolt of lightning aimed squarely at Su Ausis. However, it seemed to have no effect, most likely due to some Magic Items shielding Su Ausis.
Indeed, Su Ausis was a Pharaoh—a High Priest of the Funeral Ceremony Sect. He undoubtedly carried numerous Magic Items on him, including potions, scrolls, magic books, wands... an endless arsenal.
Salovis remained incapacitated, while Leon fought fiercely against Su Ausis. Naturally, Tassera and Cecilia wouldn’t stand idly by on the sidelines.
They knew Leon could maintain an invincible state, so they weren’t afraid of injuring him. They unleashed Lightning Breath and Confusing Heart Breath without hesitation.
Surprisingly, the breath weapon of the Green Dragon wasn’t Poison Breath. Su Ausis countered by casting Dimension Gate—a long-range teleportation spell. He evaded their attacks and reappeared at Reincarnation Gate. However, Reincarnation Gate was purely symbolic in religious contexts and had no other function.
"So you have the numbers... Let’s see whose army is larger now."
"Arise, my army."
Su Ausis opened his arms and recited a spell. Shortly thereafter, the ground began to tremble as countless hands emerged from the sand beneath.
A multitude of fully armed Skeleton Warriors climbed out—some wielding sword and shield, others carrying bows and arrows. Judging by their equipment and disciplined formations, their challenge level was undoubtedly higher than ordinary skeletons.
Following the Skeleton Warriors were cavalry units—Skeleton Cavalry armed with heavy cavalry spears and clad in armor. Unlike noble Skeleton Knights, these Skeleton Cavalry lacked the status but made up for it with greater numbers.
"Screaming Skull Catapults," Tassera exclaimed as she noticed the catapults in the dark.
Screaming Skull Catapults resembled other race’s catapults. However, instead of ordinary boulders, they launched screaming skulls as ammunition. The haunting cries of these skulls were so horrifying, they could terrify even the bravest of warriors.
Cecilia promptly took to the skies, narrowly avoiding being grabbed by a giant skeleton hand.
The owner of the skeletal hand was not a Skull Giant but a Skull Colossus. Its torso and limbs were crafted from white marble indistinguishable from authentic bone. Towering over giants, its weapon of choice was a massive bow.
"Protect yourselves!"
"Is Salovis awake yet? Get her out of the battlefield."
Leon stared at Su Ausis and his army, taking a deep breath before decisively activating Three Heads and Six Arms. He manifested six swords out of thin air, ready to throw everything he had into the fight.
