Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might
Chapter 149 - 148: Make the Best Use of Everything

Chapter 149: Chapter 148: Make the Best Use of Everything

The familiar lines stirred something in Leon’s heart.

Considering that the bronze dragon dislikes killing any creature it does not intend to eat, and makes a special effort to avoid killing merely defensive animals, as long as he chose to surrender and leave, the bronze dragon would most likely spare him. Therefore, Leon did not plan to kill the bronze dragon here, but he would not let her off easily either.

Leon had countless ways to deal with good dragons, he looked around and noticed that except for the Wanderer, who was uninjured due to his adeptness at avoiding harm, everyone else was more or less scratched. The Barbarian still had fighting power, but even a brain as small as a walnut knew better than to fool around in front of a Red Dragon. He said, "What will happen to the others if you die?"

The bronze dragon was full of righteousness, but not brainless. The Red Dragon was threatening her with the lives of her companions. She roared with fury, "Despicable and shameless."

"I am a bad guy. I am a bad dragon," Leon shamelessly declared, "I am definitely despicable and shameless."

The Elf Ranger’s ears twitched; he had excellent hearing and was a righteous person, he could not bear to see the kind-hearted bronze dragon threatened, and said, "Your Highness the bronze dragon, do not let us be threatened by him, find a way to escape without worrying about us."

Leon’s eyes slanted, and his tail swung like the trunk of an elephant, skillfully wrapping around the Elf Ranger’s calves and lifting him up, then violently smashing him onto the sandy beach, scattering countless sands and pebbles, "Shut up, did I allow you to speak?"

What a flexible tail it was. The bard thought heartlessly, watching the Red Dragon repeatedly throwing the Elf Ranger with his tail, not feeling pity for his kind, all he could think about was how flexible the Red Dragon’s tail was despite previous stories suggesting Red Dragons could only lash with their tails.

"Enough, let him go," the bronze dragon couldn’t bear to look, "What do you really want to do?"

Leon dropped the bruised Elf Ranger, turned his head towards the bronze dragon, and suddenly didn’t know what he truly wanted.

"Let them go," the bronze dragon slowly closed her eyes, tears trickling down, "I agree to your terms, do whatever you want to me."

Leon frowned upon hearing this, "What did you just say? I didn’t hear you clearly."

"How long do you want to humiliate me, how long do you want to pretend?" the bronze dragon raged, "You male dragons, I know exactly what’s on your minds. You Colorful Dragons love to bully and demean Metal Dragons."

This time, Leon heard clearly and understood, confirming he hadn’t misheard, becoming furious, "Who wants to do what to you, what do you think you’re... I’m still a teenage dragon, not yet mature. Even if I wanted to do something, I have females, Blue Dragon and Green Dragon, prettier and smarter than you, not as foolish as you are."

Recalling the human form of the bronze dragon—a female knight—so are female knights all busty and brainless, full of righteousness, and then have all sorts of strange ideas? Don’t indulge in R-rated novels, Orcs do not like Elves, nor do they like female knights, and goblins do not rely on other races to reproduce.

"Who did you call stupid?" the bronze dragon, upon hearing Leon’s words, struggled to raise her head, attempting a Lightning Breath at the Red Dragon on her back.

Leon pushed the bronze dragon’s head down again, pressing it into the ground, not allowing himself to be outdone in sheer strength by a mature Red Dragon, let alone by a young bronze dragon, stating, "I said you’re stupid."

The bronze dragon tried to lift her tail to strike Leon, but her tail got entangled by Leon’s.

"What are you doing?" the Efreeti finally arrived, belatedly seeing Leon holding the bronze dragon down on the sandy beach, tail twisted together. He had never seen two dragons mating, but had seen lizards mate, "Do you like enforcing love by not touching Tassera and Cecelia?"

"Shut up," Leon glared at the Efreeti, "Why did you only arrive now?"

"I was just presiding over a ceremony," the Efreeti answered.

"I don’t understand ceremonies, but you better not lie to me, or if I find out, you’re in for it," Leon said, "You watch those people, don’t let anyone leave."

Well, now that the Efreeti had appeared, there was no chance. The Wanderer felt it would have been better if he had escaped earlier. As long as there was a chance to jump into the sea, there was a chance to escape.

"Watch them for what?" the Efreeti holding a Big Scimitar, though eager to capture slaves, also cared about the type of slaves; those disobedient ones better be killed sooner than later to avoid inciting rebellion, which would be a bigger loss, "How about I finish each of them with one strike?"

"Do exactly as I say," Leon now in Dragon Form was not in a good temper, "Stop your nonsense."

The Efreeti shrugged his shoulders and said no more. With Leon becoming increasingly powerful, defeating him has become easier, and he has become more obedient.

"Now the Efreeti has also come over." Leon bit the fin of the bronze dragon, "You have no chance now."

The bronze dragon remained noncommittal.

Leon pondered for a moment and said: "I want to take over Watchtower Port, and I want you to take me there to meet their leaders. I want to talk to them."

"You wish." The bronze dragon said, "I will absolutely not assist in committing atrocities."

"Then I have no choice but to kill them." Leon glanced at the adventurers, "It seems like if you don’t take me there, I can’t find them. Watchtower Port is right there, it can’t run away. I just don’t want to destroy Watchtower Port; I rather prefer a peaceful handover. Or do you want to see me break into Watchtower Port and start a massacre, leading to utter devastation?"

"So this is what you are like, bronze dragon..." Leon nodded, "I understand now."

The bronze dragon felt at a loss. She would definitely not serve evil, and dying was not a concern, but when her refusal to serve might lead to even worse outcomes, what should she choose then?

"Alright." The bronze dragon murmured, "I can take you to meet the Mayor of Watchtower Port, but you have to promise me, you won’t start a massacre there."

She didn’t believe that Watchtower Port had the power to resist such a mighty Red Dragon; only if all nearby forces united, there might be a slight chance.

"I will do what I want to do," Leon said. "If the residents of Watchtower Port obey, I won’t slaughter them unnecessarily, who would work for me then? But if they disobey and oppose me, I can’t help it. I can’t just stand by while they attack me."

Leon suddenly realized he could make use of the bronze dragon beneath him and said: "How about you help me convince them... As long as they work for me, follow the rules I set, and pay taxes on time, I guarantee their safety."

The word of the bronze dragon certainly carried more credibility than that of the Red Dragon.

"Hmph." The bronze dragon scoffed.

"What are you laughing at?" Leon asked.

"It sounds like you still want to properly rule over Watchtower Port... Tyrannic rule will eventually be overthrown," the bronze dragon said. "You are strong, those adventurers might not be able to handle you, but our Metal Knight Order will absolutely not allow a Colorful Dragon to rampage and spread evil in this world."

"Wow, the Metal Knight Order... Are you still a member of that what, Metal Knight Order?" Leon laughed, "You Metal Dragons really know how to play; I think I could start an organization too."

"Forget it, we’ll talk about that sort of thing later." Leon thought for a moment without any clue, it was just a whim, and for now, serious matters were more important, "How do you know I’m a tyrant?"

"All Red Dragons are tyrants, need I say more?" the bronze dragon said.

"That’s a prejudice," Leon huffed, "On the contrary, my rule is rather merciful. First of all, I don’t like slaves; my rule does not allow the existence of slaves, slaves don’t create any value..."

Granted with knowledge from modern society, Leon had plenty of ways to make money, from personal income tax to corporate income tax, from consumption tax to deed tax, such as selling land, developing real estate... Exploiting others brings short-term benefits but is in the long run detrimental to development and social stability – it is just like killing the goose that lays golden eggs.

Leon considered seriously, shaking his head and chanting a myriad of slogans, slogans from his memory... he wouldn’t chant them now.

Leon spoke eloquently, and the bronze dragon was stupefied.

"You think I would believe that spiel?" the bronze dragon burst in anger, "You think I was born yesterday?"

"What benefit would I get from lying to you?" Leon said, "It doesn’t cost anything, what’s the harm in believing? Even if I can’t achieve what I said, things couldn’t get worse."

The clearly good Metal Dragon, who would do anything for profit, was more useful compared to the evil Colorful Dragon, of course only if one could employ the services of a Metal Dragon... No, it should be said that both Colorful Dragons and Metal Dragons had their uses, a leader must understand how to fully utilize resources.

Leon licked his lips and said: "I can let you go, and your companions too, without holding your reckless acts against you, provided that you work for me. I won’t ask you to do evil deeds, you have the right to refuse evil, but you also can’t stop us... because sometimes sacrifices are inevitable."

The bronze dragon looked at Leon, feeling that she would eventually be utterly consumed by this Red Dragon before her.
