Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -
Chapter 139 - 138 Watchtower Port
Chapter 139: Chapter 138 Watchtower Port
Leon merely exhausted his mana, he still had strength, but it was not easy to push away the agitated Green Dragon. He subconsciously wiped his face and said, "Calm down a bit."
"I can’t calm down," Cecilia’s eyes were ablaze as she stared at Leon.
She was a young dragon, already matured and ready for mating.
"Calm or not, it’s of no use," Leon’s heart was without ripples, "I am still a teenage dragon."
Hearing Leon’s words, the Green Dragon wilted suddenly, losing her strength.
Leon didn’t attend to the Green Dragon; he looked around and saw numerous corpses. Those cultists and monsters who attacked him under Angmog’s order were all dead, either killed by suicide and mutual destruction manipulated by the Soul Summoning Mantra, or directly by his own hand. Perhaps there were a few survivors, but now there was no trace of them, he said, "We shouldn’t stay here long, you gather the loot, once you’re done we need to leave quickly."
"As for me—" Leon added, "I need to rest for a bit."
Cecilia busily rifled through the dead bodies. As a Green Dragon, although not as adept as a Red Dragon in assessing the value of items at a glance, she still could easily discern what was valuable and what was not.
Leon couldn’t figure out whether he was human or a Red Dragon. Regardless, he hadn’t reached his end yet; he lacked the courage to disturb the dead, let alone consider eating the corpses of ambush dragon beasts, guardian dragon beasts, and flying dragons lying around. Those dragon beasts and dragons had nothing to do with him; the flying dragon could be considered a distant relative.
Leon tasted the ambush and guardian dragon beasts, which were mediocre, but then found the flying dragon meat surprisingly tough. After eating his fill, he found a spot to rest with his eyes half-closed.
To fully recover his mana, a long rest was necessary, but even a short rest to regain some strength was not bad.
Leon was just squinting his eyes, not asleep, as he couldn’t be carefree to sleep just anywhere.
In fact, he was quite worried about whether the Hunting Demon he hadn’t killed earlier was still tracking him, perhaps ready to deliver a fatal blow at any moment. Although the chances were low, they weren’t zero.
Leon let his thoughts wander, pondering problems like initially he didn’t want to deal with Tiamat, or step into the Cloud Giant’s castle, yet the Cloud Giant was deceived by the cultist to leave his castle to find him, and he had to respond. After much deliberation, he decided to strike first, eventually encountering Angmog...
Angmog must have been central to Tiamat’s schemes; after all, being a mature Red Dragon, he wasn’t just a starter dish. Now that he had driven off the opponent, it should mean thwarting Tiamat’s plans.
But would Tiamat continue causing trouble?
Who knows?
Only time would tell.
Not to mention the Hunting Demons. Fight off a devil, that really was his limit.
Chaotic and evil, the Red Dragons are quick to fight, Leon really wanted to finish them off, but it was tough, Samadhi True Fire was less effective against those immune to fire, Sword Control Technique struggled against highly armored foes, and only Hand Palm Bomb was a bit useful...
It all boiled down to his low mana, otherwise, there were plenty of tricks up his sleeve.
So, his previous opponents were of the level of the Efreeti, slightly higher or lower, he handled them with ease, now his challengers climbed a notch, making it no longer so easy, let alone allowing the Hunting Demon to escape, and ultimately only managing to drive away Angmog.
Leon decided, that once he reached the seaside, he would look around and then return, planning to lay low for a while.
Finally, Leon also suddenly thought, defeating Angmog meant defeating his mother wouldn’t be a problem either, not to mention that foolish sister... not knowing when he might meet them again, but once he did, it would be a case of ’you ignored me before, now you’re too noble for me’.
Cecilia quickly finished gathering the loot.
Leon struggled to open his eyes and asked, "Anything good?"
"A curious item, a Flying Wing Cloak," Cecilia said, "When you wear the Flying Wing Cloak, you can speak its command word to transform the cloak into a pair of wings allowing you to fly."
"Doesn’t seem very useful to us, but selling it to those who can’t fly would probably fetch a good sum," Leon asked, "Anything else?"
"There’s still one more magic wand." Cecilia said, taking out a magic wand that looked like an icicle, "This wand requires synchronization, it can be used to cast Frozen Ray or Snow Storm."
"There’s also an Eternal Burning Sword, the weapon of that Half-red dragon cultist." Cecilia continued, "So I’ve put the stuff here for you, you’ll know once you check."
Leon glanced at Cecilia and turned his head to look at those trophies, somewhat moved, but said, "It was me who drove away Angmog and killed the others, but without you telling me about your encounter with Tiamat, there would be nothing now... How much do you think I should share with you?"
"The thunder and the dew are all your grace." Cecilia sneaked a look at Leon, "I’ll take as much as the master gives."
Sometimes Leon really admired the way Green Dragons talked. They truly mastered the art of speech, making it always pleasant to hear, "Wouldn’t one-tenth be a little too little?"
"Not little at all." Cecilia quickly said.
Of course, she wanted more, but she knew the more greedy she was, the less she got.
"Let’s settle it this way then." Leon waved his hand, collecting the items he wanted and left the rest to Cecilia, "Let’s go."
Having rested a bit to recover some mana, just enough to ensure a getaway if they face a strong enemy. Not fully recovered in terms of mana, Leon was not confident to wander around carelessly. After leaving the village, he immediately found a cave in the mountains with Cecilia to get some good sleep.
Normal dreams do not affect sleep quality, but nightmares seriously do. Leon always had good sleep quality, however, Cecilia’s wasn’t very good as she had a nightmare again, seeing a sky-shrouding enormous shadow, the furious Five-headed Dragon Queen.
"My child, do you have anything you need to explain?"
Cecilia looked at the huge Green Dragon head hissing, after a long silence she said, "I think only sincerity can win sincerity, deception, and lies eventually reap evil results."
"You are a Green Dragon, the one best at poison and lies, a natural liar, and now you tell me only sincerity can win sincerity?" Tiamat couldn’t help but laugh, "Or are you lying to me now? Really audacious..."
"I dare not." Cecilia quickly lowered her head, she definitely didn’t dare to provoke Her Majesty Tiamat, even knowing the opponent couldn’t do much to her now.
"Never mind. Green Dragons are also my beloved children. You just need to know you’re a Colorful Dragon." Tiamat compromised, "Keep an eye on him for me, guide him onto the right path, back to Mother’s embrace, and I will not be stingy with my blessings."
All true dragons are homothermic, but unlike most warm-blooded creatures, dragons don’t have an obvious method to dissipate excess body heat. They don’t sweat. Instead, their blood vessels extract heat from the bloodstream and store this energy up. Despite this, Cecilia, awoken from her dream, felt as though she was sweating.
Her Majesty Tiamat was indeed furious, but as long as Cecilia was still of use, she wouldn’t be ignored.
Cecilia glanced at Leon, thinking her future depended entirely on him, so she decisively snuggled closer.
Cecilia went back to sleep, this time sleeping soundly and waking up well-rested. She went out for food because her bloodline was activated by Her Majesty Tiamat, she needed more food, and also prepared food for Leon... Beyond that, she couldn’t do much, neither could she fight a Cloud Giant nor touch a mature Red Dragon.
"You said you saw her again yesterday?" Leon woke up around noon.
After Cecilia recounted in detail, Leon nodded, thinking that Tiamat’s true body was in Aphnas, the first layer of the Nine Prisons, and it wasn’t so easy to interfere with the Material Plane, and he wasn’t important enough to concern Tiamat that much.
Leon had a rough idea of what was going on in the Lost Plateau; the area was filled with goblins, Orcs, Humans, Dwarfs, giants, and dragons. The minerals were fairly rich and there was enough game, much better than the desert, but it was not the ideal place for Leon, he had to keep moving.
Crossing the Lost Plateau, the first thing that appeared wasn’t the ocean but a forest. Only after crossing the forest was there the boundless sea.
Compared to the numerous events they encountered before entering the Lost Plateau, their journey from the plateau to the ocean was very smooth... only two dragons caused trouble, and generally, no one would trouble two dragons, Leon didn’t want to stir things up, even if they encountered an unmanned Mage Tower, he wasn’t eager to approach, and Cecilia didn’t dare to make decisions on her own, so naturally, nothing happened.
Ahead was Watchtower Port, the only town near this sea area. Leon and Cecilia landed early, transforming into human forms, otherwise two dragons, one red and one green, recklessly approaching the port could easily cause a commotion.
Watchtower Port was a small to medium-sized town, mainly focusing on commerce and fishing, then the surrounding flatlands provided some food for the town. The population was not small, much busier than Oasis City, with the bustling docks where ships were constantly entering and exiting, including both merchant ships and fishing boats.
Leon found a restaurant led by a Halfling chef, tasting delicious seafood soup for the first time; the dish made of light tomato fish soup, aperitif, a pinch of fennel, cod, clams, and mussels was the tastiest thing he had eaten since coming to this world, and it was said to be even better with a bit of Dragon lobster meat.
Leon had a very good first impression of Watchtower Port, although his good impression might not be a good thing for the residents of Watchtower Port.
