Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might -
Chapter 124 Agile Fatty
Chapter 124: Chapter 124 Agile Fatty
No need for any tests, Leon could clearly feel the tremendous change occurring within him as he achieved Dan Formation.
Despite having scales and wings, a dragon’s body characteristics are more akin to those of feline animals rather than reptiles, and they move just like cats, elegantly so.
However, as dragons gradually grow, they become clumsier. Despite their graceful strides, turning and jumping become increasingly burdensome, akin to how a large ship struggles to make sharp turns. In terms of numbers, a baby dragon’s agility remains the same as that of an Ancient Dragon, with no increase whatsoever.
Leon had always been troubled by this issue, often having to endure damage head-on because his body didn’t allow him to perform intricate dodging maneuvers. At most, he could only tilt his head to dodge arrows, except when using the Gathering Form and Scattering Energy technique to show off.
But now, that was no longer a problem. With the Dan Formation turning his Essence, Energy, and Spirit into one complete Dan, where there was no separation between them, his movements became agile once again. He returned to his baby dragon agility, effortlessly sprinting and jumping, suddenly bursting forth in a sprint or even jumping to heights he previously couldn’t imagine ... transforming back into a big cat.
If there were a data panel, Leon was sure his agility had significantly improved. Even if it wasn’t to the level of his strength or close to his physical stats, improving wasn’t too difficult. The benefits included higher armor levels, increased agility exemptions, and better initiative.
Leon couldn’t help but think, although dragons possessed tremendous strength, sometimes they couldn’t run because, as their body grew larger, the neural transmission time from the brain to the limbs took longer, muscles reacted slower and delays heightened, naturally making movements seem slower.
But now, his movements were quick because the Dan Formation significantly improved the speed of neural transmission; a mere thought could now swiftly control a body response, greatly reducing delays and enhancing reaction speed.
As Leon’s partner in Dual Cultivation, Tassera watched him closely having successfully achieved Dan Formation with him, observing him as he hopped and jumped around on the desert sand and suddenly shouted, "Leon!"
Leon turned to look at Tassera, who raised her hand and, using the readily available sand of the desert, crafted a large disc before throwing it into the air.
Leon, looking up, saw the disc approaching, leaped mightily to a height of dozens of meters, slapped the sandy disc into pieces with his palm, then flexibly twisted his body while falling to land perfectly on all fours, showcasing powerful balance.
"Continue," Leon shouted towards Tassera.
"Ready." Tassera swiftly created several more sand discs,
"There’s no need to increase the difficulty so suddenly."
Despite Leon’s complaints, it didn’t stop him from keenly focusing on the sand discs, leaping up, smacking one disc to pieces with one palm and quickly another with his second hand. As the last disc flew overhead, he swished his tail while descending, achieving a dragon-tail triple kill.
"Continue?" Tassera was eager to try more.
"That’s enough for now," Leon declined.
The complex movements lead to rapid energy consumption, which was completely within his expectations.
Tassera chuckled, "I’ve noticed you’ve become a nimble fat guy."
"I’m not fat; I’m big," Leon responded, looking at the Blue Dragon, whose size was comparable to his, "I’m a nimble fat guy, you’re just a clumsy fat guy."
"I’m faster than before, too," Tassera said, "No more fumbling around during experiments."
Leon had also made this discovery incidentally.
His control over his physique had improved as well; previously, he could only sweep the floor with his tail, but now he could perform more complex maneuvers, like an elephant’s trunk wrapping around objects, using it as a hand, and the fingers had also become more nimble, making grasping actions effortless.
"By the way, I haven’t tested how much my spellcasting has improved," Leon said, standing up, raising his hand, and launching a Hand Palm Bomb towards the sand, blasting a big hole.
Indeed, his mana manipulation had quickened which meant faster spellcasting. If only a little mana was needed to cast a less powerful Hand Palm Bomb, it could be done almost instantly.
Apart from that, his total mana hadn’t increased much, but the mana utilization was more efficient - this could be likened to a flat-management approach reducing unnecessary departments and cutting needless expenditure - now, a spell required less mana and more spells could be used.
Now only one issue remained: the Inner Core Dual Cultivation Method could not be shelved yet. As he continued to grow in the future, he needed to keep practicing, and as new materials were added, the Dan must be repeatedly refined, otherwise, movements would slow down again.
Before, Leon’s agility resembling that of a big cat did not make Tassera envious, but the effortless casting of the Hand Palm Bomb truly dazzled her. Longing, she asked, "Could I eventually do the same, cast spells like you?"
Leon glanced at Tassera, thinking that she didn’t know the Inner Core Dual Cultivation Method or the Foundation Establishment and totally relied on him to boost her level, and said, "It’s a bit difficult."
"If one year doesn’t work, then two years, if two years don’t work, then three years," Tassera said. "Don’t worry, I can wait."
"I don’t need to cultivate anymore," Leon said, "We’ll talk about it when I reach the teenage stage."
Upon hearing Leon’s words, Tassera clearly paused, then asked, "So we stop training? Until you become a teenager?"
"Yeah," Leon said confidently, "I’ve already mastered my divine skills, didn’t you see?"
Leon pondered for a moment, realizing that Blue Dragon was really helpful to him and he couldn’t be ungrateful, then said, "If I have time, I can help you, just purely helping you."
Tassera stopped herself mid-sentence; she wasn’t a naive fairy who thought everyone must help her. She was well aware that even the property and territories of dragon spouses were clearly divided. She was grateful for Leon’s willingness to help, as he was indeed the dragon she favored, but it still wasn’t enough. After thinking it over, she said:
"If I agree to enchant the Catastrophe Blade for you, allowing you to change its size with a gesture or command to facilitate its use in both your Dragon Form and human form, would you be willing to work a bit harder?"
Leon’s Sword Control Technique was linked with the Catastrophe Blade. Using it in Dragon Form was no issue, but it was tricky in human form. If it could be made more versatile, he would definitely agree. He never thought his Inner Core Dual Cultivation Method could also be used like this, and said, "Deal."
After the deal was made, Leon continued to "go crazy." After achieving Dan Formation, his control over his body reached a new height—like having a high-performance new computer that might only be used for browsing websites or watching videos in the future, but for now, he was very happy to explore it more.
The computer had been set up, with all software installed and the desktop background changed too. Leon prepared to play games on his computer, looking at Tassera, he said, "Let’s have a game."
"If you want to bully someone, just say it," Tassera said, knowing full well she wasn’t a match for Leon even at her fullest power.
"Bring in Efreeti and Green Dragon, three against one, you guys still have a chance," Leon thought of Brass Dragon, considered including him to make it four against one, but felt it was a bit too much, and besides, since Brass Dragon as a Metal Dragon didn’t mingle with the others often, he would be too troublesome to find.
Leon was thrilled, and thus an hour later, a big battle was ready to start near the Molten Lava Lake in the desert. Of course, it was a friendly match, nothing too serious, like how Leon forbade the use of Samadhi True Fire.
Looking at Efreeti, Green Dragon, and Blue Dragon, even in a one against three scenario and having achieved Dan Formation, Leon dared not take it lightly.
With Dan Formation, Leon’s spellcasting was incredibly fast; he raised his hand and fired a Hand Palm Bomb towards the weakest, Green Dragon, and then started running...
Indeed, his control over his body had improved tremendously. Although walking on his two hind legs was still inconvenient, he could run with one forelimb supporting his legs, while the other forelimb—or rather, hand—could be used to wield the sword.
Leon’s target was Tassera, being a Storage Dragon and a Mage, she had to be taken down early. Before he even reached halfway, Efreeti, holding a scimitar, stood in front of him. With a feint, Leon dodged left and right and not just that, he used his tail to wrap around Efreeti’s foot and tripped him.
Naturally, Tassera wouldn’t just stand still and wait for Leon; knowing that illusions wouldn’t work on Leon, she had prepared Mysterious Steps early on and dodged with it.
Leon turned and ran towards Cecilia without slowing down at the turn, frightening Green Dragon into unleashing a Poison Breath, which was futile against the agile Leon...
Leon jumped over the Poison Breath, then flapped his wings twice and took to the air, diving towards Green Dragon and drove the sword into the sand just beside Green Dragon’s neck, then bit down on Green Dragon’s neck.
Cecilia was out of the game.
Of course, it wasn’t her fault; she was inherently weaker. As a Green Dragon, the Primitive Forest was her home field, and fighting in the desert she couldn’t unleash her full combat power.
Now, only Tassera and Efreeti were left, and it didn’t take much effort for Leon to take them down.
Even though it was just a friendly match, especially with Tassera as a Mage, she surely had plenty of one-time use magic items and scrolls, and probably wasn’t using them fully. If it were a real fight, who would win was still up in the air.
"Master is really strong," Cecilia praised him, her emotional value surpassing everyone else combined.
Leon smiled, feeling that the Inner Core Dual Cultivation Method should be a high-tier reward. Just pondering the time needed to cultivate it, and the possibility that one might not become very powerful afterward, he quickly came to terms with it.
"Master is so powerful now... shouldn’t we be doing something?" Cecilia suddenly asked.
"Hmm?" Leon glanced sideways at Green Dragon.
