Chapter 987: Chapter 987: Cherish Life, Stay Away from the Rooftop.

"Of course I don’t believe. I’m a soldier! I’m an atheist! You’re a soldier too! And an educated one at that, how can you believe such nonsense?" Qin Jian stroked An Hao’s hair, criticizing her idealistic thoughts.

"Do you believe in reincarnation then?" An Hao looked up at him, unable to see his eyes, only his tense lines and firm jaw.

"If only reincarnation were real," Qin Jian tugged at the corner of his mouth, "then in the next life, I would still find you. To make up for the regrets of this lifetime."

"Really?" An Hao smiled, her fingers fiddling with the military uniform buttons on his chest, "Then in this lifetime, you’ve cared for me enough. What other regrets could there be? Maybe like..."

"Like my personality, quiet and reserved, cool and aloof. If there’s a next life, I’ll do it better."

Upon hearing this, An Hao blurted out excitedly, "You’re already better than your previous life, okay!"

"Previous life?" Qin Jian looked at An Hao perplexed, reaching up to touch her forehead, "You’re not delirious from a fever, are you?"

"That’s possible," An Hao quickly deflected with a casual remark, steering the conversation away.

"The fever has subsided; you lie down for a while longer. I’m going downstairs to see if the food Mom prepared for you is ready," Qin Jian said as he released An Hao, helping her to lie down and tucking the blanket around her.

Just as he was about to get up and leave, An Hao caught hold of his clothes.

"What is it?" Qin Jian looked down at her.

"Kiss me."

He laughed and bent down to place a gentle kiss on her forehead.

Qin Jian turned and left.

An Hao closed her eyes, but her mind was in turmoil.

The same dream appeared again, broadly similar in scene, but with different details.

What in the world could this annoying dream mean?

It clung to her relentlessly!

Could it be that her dreams had gained the power of premonition? Or was it just that she was under too much stress lately and becoming mentally frail?

It was so irritating!

She hated the rooftop of the twelfth floor that appeared in her dreams!

That was where she had jumped off and died in her previous life, but it was also where she had been reborn! Without that desperate leap, there would have been no second chance at life.

But would the heavens grant her another chance to be reborn a second time?

That was the crux of the issue!

No matter if a second chance at rebirth existed or not, An Hao silently told herself in her dreams. Stay away from rooftops! Cherish life!

In this life, she would definitely not go to the twelfth floor, never set foot on the rooftop!

.............................................

The next day, An Hao’s fever had gone, and she felt much more spirited.

After breakfast, Qin Jian wrapped her in a thick coat, with the scarf around her neck wound tightly, leaving only her eyes visible to prevent her from catching the wind when she went outside.

"What is this for? You’ve wrapped me up like a zongzi!" An Hao protested. Her clothes must have weighed seven or eight pounds in total, making her feel quite heavy as she walked.

"I’m afraid of you catching a cold! Your immunity is at its weakest after recovering from a fever!" Qin Jian insisted, pulling her along as they headed out.

The car was already waiting at the door; Qin Jian opened the car door and stuffed An Hao inside.

After dropping her off at school, Qin Jian went to the hospital to see Yan Ye. He wanted to ask about the possibility of surgery for illnesses like that of An Hao’s father, Ning Yibin.
