Chapter 946: Chapter 946: Celebrating His Birthday

Having selected the gifts, An Hao and Gu Shuangshuang took the bus back to the military compound. As they just reached the entrance, they spotted Cheng Yue and Li Zhi holding a large cake, with Cheng Yue also carrying a bouquet of fresh flowers standing there.

"Just the two of you? Why didn’t Zhang Chaoqian come?" Gu Shuangshuang casually asked. These three were basically an iron trio, often coming and going together.

"That guy ate something wrong and is having bouts of vomiting and diarrhea in the dormitory. So, he didn’t come," Cheng Yue said.

"You can’t get in, can you?" An Hao wondered, seeing the two men hanging around without moving.

"Yeah," Li Zhi said, scratching his head in embarrassment, "Got carried away today and forgot to ask Teacher Yan for his number. Only realized I’d forgotten it when we got here. Here we are, waiting for the two of you. With you here, we can follow you in."

The guard recognized An Hao and let her pass.

It took about fifteen minutes to walk from the gate to the small two-story building at the far end, following a road lined with Chinese parasol trees, the gentle breeze bringing coolness and comfort.

Rows of soldiers chanting slogans marched past them.

Cheng Yue’s gaze searched the compound, wondering if he might run into Yan Ye’s sister.

After realizing this, Cheng Yue felt annoyed at himself—why on earth was he bothering to look for that woman for no reason!

That woman whom he was sure to have bad luck with whenever he encountered her!

An Hao led Cheng Yue and the others to Yan Ye’s doorstep and took the opportunity to introduce their homes.

"That house belongs to Teacher Yan’s family. Just across that alley, that building over there is our house."

"So, your home is really that close to Teacher Yan’s?" Cheng Yue said, subtly surprised.

"Didn’t you know that Teacher Yan is the son of the Deputy Commander? Just by looking at the position and layout of the house, you can tell."

"Teacher Yan sure keeps it well hidden," Li Zhi clicked his tongue.

"You think everyone is like you? Always showing off so obnoxiously," Gu Shuangshuang glanced at Li Zhi.

"You’re slandering me!" He exclaimed. When had he ever been anything but low-key? He’d never boasted in front of others about his own father who was a regiment commander.

Especially since other people’s fathers held higher positions than his own; he had nothing to boast about.

"No wonder," Cheng Yue muttered.

"No wonder what?" Then he turned to ask.

"That time I gave you a call and ended up ringing Teacher Yan’s house."

"What? Teacher Yan’s house? You must be dreaming. Last time it clearly went through to the PLA sister at home, right?" Li Zhi was still somewhat confused and had not fully grasped the situation.

"Yan Huan is Yan Ye’s sister!" Cheng Yue had found out only recently.

Previously, both he and Li Zhi thought her name was "Yan Huan," not realizing it was actually "Yan Huan."

They had completely missed the connection because Yan Huan didn’t sound too similar.

Otherwise, they would’ve definitely spotted that Yan Huan was Yan Ye’s sister.

"Stop, stop, stop! Let me get this straight! Cheng Yue, you’re saying Yan Huan is Teacher Yan’s sister, and I’ve got that right, haven’t I?" Li Zhi was now hesitant to believe it.

"Of course, you haven’t got it wrong. If you don’t believe me, follow me," An Hao responded, picking up where Li Zhi left off.

An Hao stepped forward and knocked on the door.

The one who answered was Feng Yuzhi.

It was dinnertime, and today was also Yan Ye’s birthday. Feng Yuzhi was busy preparing a lavish meal in the kitchen, apron on.
