The warrior who had brought them arranged their accommodation and then left.

An Hao placed her luggage, looked around the room, and found the light very bright, the bedding clean, and the room simply but elegantly furnished. There was a pot of blooming jasmine on the windowsill, and outside the window were several stems of lush bamboo.

An Hao was very satisfied with the environment.

"This place is really nice. Why don’t we go outside and have a look around?" Like An Hao, Gu Shuangshuang couldn’t stay still and wanted to explore whenever she arrived somewhere new.

"Sure," An Hao agreed, taking out a pair of flat shoes from her luggage and handing them to Gu Shuangshuang, "The paths are all through the woods, cloth shoes will be more comfortable to wear."

"Thank you."

Gu Shuangshuang changed her shoes and left with An Hao.

The sanatorium was built amidst mountains and water, and just outside was a vast forest with many trails leading to different sceneries.

An Hao chose a relatively flat path. Walking through the woods with a gentle breeze stirring her clothes felt very comfortable.

The little life inside her seemed to sense her mother’s joyful mood and started to kick around, expressing its own happiness.

"This place is really great. Outside it’s the height of summer heat, but you can’t feel it here at all," Gu Shuangshuang couldn’t help but exclaim. "When I get pregnant, I’ll come here for a vacation too."

"Good idea," An Hao laughed softly.

They walked along the woods for a while before they emerged to a clear bay flowing through the mountains. Further downstream, there was a depression filled with water that looked cool and inviting.

"Let’s go. We can rest by the water," Gu Shuangshuang said cheerfully.

"I’ll just sit by the stream," An Hao chose a relatively flat and safe place, sat on a large rock, took off her shoes, and dipped her feet into the cool water for a moment.

She didn’t dare to indulge in the coolness; just a couple of splashes sufficed.

Gu Shuangshuang walked to a spot about ten meters downstream from An Hao. It was a clear pool where the water was so transparent the bottom was visible. She sat down like An Hao and submerged her pale feet in the clear water.

The refreshing feeling made her feel much more comfortable.

"This is really a nice spot," Gu Shuangshuang gazed at the water surface. Suddenly, she noticed there were fishes in the clear water and said, "An Hao, isn’t it strange? They say where water’s too clear, there are no fish, but it’s not entirely true. Look, there are little fish here. Come and see."

When An Hao heard Gu Shuangshuang’s call, she walked towards her.

But the path was difficult, with many stones.

Gu Shuangshuang, worried An Hao might fall, quickly stood up, "Take your time walking, I’ll come and help you."

"Okay. Be careful yourself. Look where you’re standing; it’s not flat and too close to the pond, too dangerous. If you accidentally fall in, I want to see who will fish you out! I definitely can’t save you," An Hao said.

"If I really fell in, I wouldn’t need you to save me! I’d climb out myself," Gu Shuangshuang replied, giggling.

"Can you swim?" An Hao couldn’t remember Gu Shuangshuang ever mentioning she could swim.

"Nope. Don’t worry, I’ll be extremely careful. When you come over, we won’t stay on this side, it’s really hard to traverse..."

"Then be careful," An Hao said.

"Don’t worr—" Before she could finish saying ’don’t worry,’ Gu Shuangshuang suddenly slipped and yelled out as she fell backwards.
