"Congratulations to Commissar Zhang for the promotion to division commander! And congratulations to you, sister-in-law, on becoming the division commander’s wife!" An Hao said with a beaming smile as she walked in.

"Oh my, you sure have a sweet mouth! Come in and have a seat!" Zhang Lanxiang greeted them with a smile and led them into the living room.

Qin Jian placed the gifts they had brought on the table, "Knowing the division commander enjoys a good drink, we brought two bottles of wine for you to try on this special visit."

"Look at you two, why bring such complete gifts for just a meal? That wine must have cost a pretty penny. You’re going to have kids soon, you need to save." Zhang Lanxiang couldn’t help but start lecturing Qin Jian and An Hao.

She didn’t regard Qin Jian and An Hao as outsiders, always considering their needs in everything she said and did.

"It’s not like we buy it every day. This is just a one-time thing." Qin Jian responded, "The division commander has this one preference. Sister-in-law, you can’t always be obstructing it."

"Qin Jian understands me best," Zhang Jianguo said happily to Zhang Lanxiang, "Quick, put it away for me. This wine looks top-notch; I need to treasure it and savor it slowly. Oh, and this one’s red wine. That’s for you."

"Look at you," Zhang Lanxiang said with a laugh as she gave him a playful glare, "you’re more affectionate towards wine than you are towards me."

This comment set off a round of hearty laughter among everyone, and the room immediately warmed up.

After the polite small talk, Zhang Lanxiang started to prepare tea for Mr. and Mrs. Qin.

Seeing Zhang Lanxiang bring over two cups of tea, An Hao quickly gestured with her hands, "Sister-in-law, I don’t drink tea! Let the division commander and Qin Jian have it."

"Your tea is specially brewed by me, and neither of them gets a taste of it!" Zhang Lanxiang said with a smile.

"What kind of special tea is this? Why the special treatment, sister-in-law?" Qin Jian asked with a light smile.

An Hao took the tea cup, lifted the lid, and inside was a cup full of dates and goji berries.

"Your sister-in-law knew you were coming today and cooked it especially for you. She noticed you’ve been looking pale and tired lately, so she made it just for you. She heard it’s good for you!" Zhang Jianguo said with a smile.

"Really, thank you so much, sister-in-law. You’re so considerate!" An Hao said gratefully.

"Why be so formal? Haven’t I told you before? I consider you family! Within the family, we don’t need to stand on ceremony with thank yous," Zhang Lanxiang replied.

"Alright then. I won’t hold back."

"Enough with the pleasantries, go cook! Politburo Liu and his wife will be here shortly, and I want to see what you will feed us," Zhang Jianguo urged.

"I got it. I bet you’re just thinking about your braised fish." Zhang Lanxiang teased as she headed to the kitchen, "Let’s see if my cooking at noon can match up to An Hao’s."

"Want to eat my braised fish?" An Hao immediately caught on to what was implied and stood up as well, "That’s easy, I’ll make it."

"With you being pregnant..."

"It’s fine. Cooking one dish is no problem."

"How about this, you guide and I’ll cook!"

"Deal," An Hao agreed.

The two women headed to the kitchen, and just as they placed the wok on the stove, the door knocked again.

"That’s probably Politburo Liu and his wife," Zhang Lanxiang said while walking to the door, but to her surprise, standing at the doorstep were Hen Zhiyuan and his wife.
