Chapter 1201: Chapter 1201: Can’t Hold On Anymore
There were ready-to-eat foods available in the break room. Knowing this was the busiest area, the hospital leaders had bought everything in advance to make it convenient for people to eat right after coming out of the operating room.
Upon receiving a piece of bread, Ji Chuan handed it to An Hao standing beside him. It was only then that he remembered An Hao had also been standing for twelve hours straight.
Such depletion was indeed too great.
As a pregnant woman, she must be finding it somewhat hard to bear.
"Are you okay?" Ji Chuan asked.
"Yeah. So far, so good." An Hao, who was starving, took a big bite of the bread and chewed it deliciously, "I really learned a lot today. I’ve encountered all sorts of operations in one day."
"Yes. It’s rare to have such a high volume of surgeries in one day." Ji Chuan took a sip of water, swallowed the bread in his mouth, and said, "After you finish eating, call your family and then head back first. Come back here early tomorrow morning."
An Hao thought for a moment before asking Ji Chuan, "Director Ji, it might not look good if I leave now when everyone is so busy, right?"
"Most people are aware of your pregnancy to some extent. Besides, you really are tired today." Ji Chuan noted the fatigue on An Hao’s face and wouldn’t allow her to continue, "Now is not the time to be stubborn. Listen to me and go back to rest."
"Okay." An Hao agreed, feeling indeed that she had reached her limit.
For the sake of the child in her belly, she couldn’t push herself too hard.
Ji Chuan then inquired about the other interns to see if any couldn’t carry on. Apart from two who were unwell and had endured the day with sickness but couldn’t hold on any longer and had to leave, none of the others left.
All the official doctors, even the sick ones, were doing their best to carry on.
At this time, the department was busy, lacking surgeons, and the rest of any one person could affect the rescue of the injured.
Therefore, all doctors capable of wielding a scalpel were trying their best to hold on.
An Hao finished her food and quietly slipped out.
As soon as she reached the corridor, a nurse from the nurse’s station called out to her, "Dr. An, your family called many times tonight to ask about you. I told them you were still in the operating room and wouldn’t be out until at least midnight. Later, your family came to wait for you, and I directed them to the benches at the end of the corridor."
"Okay, thank you." An Hao walked towards the end of the corridor and, sure enough, Qin Jian was waiting there.
Possibly because he had waited for so long, he had fallen asleep.
When An Hao approached, Qin Jian heard the familiar footsteps, opened his eyes, and awoke.
"What time did you get here?" An Hao sat beside him and asked.
Qin Jian rubbed his face and checked the time on his wristwatch, "Is it so late already? I’ve been waiting here for you for four hours."
"A major accident happened today, with severe casualties... I’ve been in the operating room the whole time... Sorry to have kept you waiting so long." An Hao said softly, hugging him, "Although I’m a medical student and used to dead bodies, experiencing such a shocking scene firsthand is honestly still distressing. Everyone is striving to save lives, and I couldn’t leave early either..."
"I understand. I do." Qin Jian held her and kissed her forehead, "Even though I regret trying to stop you from attending Military Medical University, now that you’ve chosen this career, I will support you wholeheartedly."
An Hao looked at him gratefully, "Marrying you is truly my fortune. Let’s go, it’s getting late, and I really am tired. Let’s go home."
The couple had just stood up when there was another commotion in the corridor.
