Chapter 1151: Chapter 1151: Not Going Back Tonight

The sentinel on duty at the gate happened to know An Hao. He approached and saluted her, then said, "Sister-in-law, are you here to see the Chief of Staff?"

"Yes. I know he is in a meeting, I’ll just wait here for a while," An Hao said.

"The Chief of Staff’s meeting has already dispersed. He just walked out to the door and then received a call to go back. If you are looking for him, I can make a call for you," the sentinel said.

As soon as he finished speaking, Qin Jian arrived at the gate in a jeep.

Seeing An Hao and a man standing outside, he stopped the car, got out, and walked directly up to An Hao. "How come you’re here? It’s raining, aren’t you afraid of getting wet?"

"I don’t know when you’d be done with the meeting, so I came to look for you," An Hao said and turned to introduce Ji Chuan to Qin Jian, "This is Director Ji. He was the one who drove me here today!"

"Hello! Thank you very much!" Qin Jian extended his hand and shook hands with him.

"Not at all!" Ji Chuan replied humorously, "I came under the entreaty of your old lady to bring her over! Since the two of you have met, I should be heading back now."

"I appreciate your trouble," Qin Jian said thanks again.

Ji Chuan waved to him, held an umbrella with one hand, and hopped onto his vehicle to merge back into the curtain of rain.

Qin Jian frowned as he watched his retreating figure.

Thinking he was jealous, An Hao quickly explained to Qin Jian, "Don’t overthink it, he really just gave me a ride."

"You’re not allowed to ride in his car next time," Qin Jian said authoritatively.

An Hao pouted, "So stingy! Do you think just anyone would be interested in me?"

Qin Jian pointed at the gradually distancing Ji Chuan and said, "Just look at him, holding an umbrella with one hand, riding his vehicle all wobbly. I’m really worried about you."

"Oh, come on, he’s already brought me back! You don’t even have a word of gratitude and still..."

"I’m worried about you!" What if you fell from that back seat and got hurt?

An Hao: "..." Is it necessary to be this observant...

The rain grew heavier, turning the ground into winding rivers. Qin Jian picked up An Hao, ready to get into the car.

In the blink of an eye, he changed his mind.

"We’re not going back tonight," he said.

"Where are we going to stay?" An Hao was puzzled.

"Have you forgotten? We have another place here," Qin Jian took out a key from his pocket and dangled it in front of An Hao, "Come home with me."

"Yes!" An Hao instantly became joyful and excited.

Qin Jian drove the car, with An Hao alongside, to the family quarters. They got out and went straight to the third floor to find their home.

"Is there anything inside?" An Hao worried that even if they went in, there wouldn’t be any living supplies.

Without a word, Qin Jian used the key to open the door.

As An Hao entered, she saw that nothing essential was missing—from pots and pans to a double bed with military bedding.

"When did you arrange all this?" An Hao asked in surprise.

"I’ve been sorting it out bit by bit ever since you mentioned it last time," Qin Jian explained as if it were a given, since even when he didn’t come home for lunch, he needed a place to rest, "Well? Are you satisfied?"

"Satisfied is an overstatement. It’s barely passable," An Hao commented after walking around the room, "There’s no hint of life in here, it feels cold."

"Yes, with the lady of the house not present, how could there be any warmth?" Qin Jian smiled, "But it will get better from now on! I’ll leave this home in your hands to take care of."
