Chapter 1149: Heart Thumping
Chapter 1149: Chapter 1149: Heart Thumping
So it seemed that even if she could stay in the hospital smoothly, she couldn’t enter the cardiac surgery department!
As Ruan Fangfang was thinking, suddenly she heard Ji Chuan’s voice beside her ear, "Ruan Fangfang, get out! The operating room is not a place for you to be distracted."
Ruan Fangfang was startled by the rebuke and quickly stole a glance at Ji Chuan.
His eyebrows were arched, his eyelids drooping, his piercing gaze focused intently on the shiny scalpel, half of his face hidden behind a mask, looking serene, cold, yet extraordinarily charming.
He was always concentrating on the surgery, never taking his eyes off the scalpel for a moment. How did he know she was distracted?
As Ruan Fangfang was thinking, Ji Chuan suddenly lifted his eyelids and looked at her.
Immediately, Ruan Fangfang’s heart skipped a beat, "I’m sorry, Director Ji, I won’t be distracted again."
Ji Chuan didn’t say a word, just lowered his eyes and continued with the surgery.
Ruan Fangfang breathed a sigh of relief, her heart pounding, her cheeks flushed with a shade of red.
When she left work in the afternoon, Ruan Fangfang seemed like she had lost her soul.
The thought of returning to cardiac surgery suddenly faded; she felt that if An Hao went to cardiac surgery, staying in General Surgery might not be such a bad thing after all.
Thinking this, she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders, and even her steps became lighter.
When she exited the hospital, the weather outside was gloomy, with fierce winds, as if brewing a thunderstorm.
Ruan Fangfang stood in the lobby watching the weather outside.
The sky darkened, and after several claps of thunder, it started to rain.
Many people crowded here to take shelter from the rain, and it seemed they wouldn’t be able to go home for a while.
An Hao came out of the operating room and stopped at the entrance of the lobby.
The weather was fine in the morning, but it became overcast and started raining in the afternoon.
She definitely couldn’t go home now and could only wait for Qin Jian to pick her up.
This place was too far from where they lived; Xiaoliu, the security officer, had brought her to work that morning.
If Xiaoliu didn’t come to pick her up, she could only wait for Qin Jian.
The rain continued for a long time, and she waited in the lobby for just as long, without seeing any sign of him arriving.
Ruan Fangfang was also waiting for the rain to stop, and became increasingly agitated as the rain showed no signs of letting up.
Just as she was about to head back to her department, Ji Chuan came down, holding two umbrellas.
Ruan Fangfang’s eyes were sharp, and she spotted Ji Chuan immediately; she quickly tidied her clothes and hair, ready to go over and find him.
But then she saw Ji Chuan heading towards the other side of the lobby; her eyes followed, just in time to catch sight of An Hao, also taking shelter.
"Still waiting for someone?" Ji Chuan walked up and patted An Hao’s shoulder.
Turning around, An Hao saw Ji Chuan and said with a smile, "Yes! The rain outside is heavy, the water is already over my ankles. I’m afraid I can’t wade back."
"Take this," Ji Chuan handed an umbrella to An Hao, "wait here for me and don’t move."
"What? Are you going to take me home, Director Ji?" An Hao was surprised.
"Is there a problem with that?" Ji Chuan casually retorted.
"It would be my honor. But I’m worried about my family..."
An Hao hadn’t finished speaking when Ji Chuan interrupted her, "Today’s knights in shining armor haven’t shown up. Your father-in-law and your husband are at a meeting in the army and won’t be back for a while. Your mother-in-law riding here is too far, and her skills aren’t up to it, she might not be able to safely take you home. The Director Yan upstairs is still battling in the operating room. So right now, I’m the only one available..."
