Surviving The Fourth Calamity
Chapter 781 - 580: The Provoked Suren

Chapter 781: Chapter 580: The Provoked Suren

Lynn shifted uncomfortably in his chair, knowing what Hill’s smile meant at that moment.

The ’Teraxil Elves’ were the same, a mocking smile creeping onto their faces whenever that Divine King was mentioned.

Once, the Elven City Guards were the proudest Crusaders, unable to tolerate even a jest about elves.

But the more they heard, the less they could refute.

Elves were stubborn, not obstinate!

They had come to realize that these so-called ’Teraxil Elves’ had nothing to do with real elves anymore, except for an elven appearance.

If they wished, they could easily don disguises of Dwarves or Gnomes as well.

They were just mercenaries hired by Coron.

Though they appeared as elves to other races, Lynn and his companions knew differently, it was not the same.

Thus, the elves in the City Guard had recently become more active, aware that should the mercenaries leave, the city would have to rely solely on themselves.

The deterrent presence of these immortal kin wouldn’t last a year in a place like Toril once they departed.

Coron’s actions had merely given the Toril Elves a chance to start anew.

Coron was truly benevolent, forever the father figure in the hearts of the elves.

Yet, not a single Toril Elf wished to speak of that ’Teraxil Elven God King,’ who could very well stand shoulder to shoulder with Coron and Rose’s son.

It’s just that one epitomized incompetence and foolishness, while the other, evil and foolishness.

Perhaps the difference in mothers mattered? The son born to the current Goddess Queen was quite capable.

Lynn quickly changed the subject, feeling something was amiss, "Anyway, Rose really put a lot of effort in this time!

Since Tevinar lost his divinity and reputation over this Divine Artifact and couldn’t even use his name anymore, Coron has been determined to destroy this Kirasha Rose.

He even had a bounty for clues to this artifact all over the world at one point!

Unfortunately, this rose then vanished without a trace.

Although Kirasha Rose is dangerous, it hasn’t appeared for a long time, and Rose didn’t want it caught by Coron.

Its greatest ability is to harm elves, but it’s also easily destroyed by Coron’s power."

After a few seconds of silence, Hill said, "Rose knows the ’Teraxil Elves’ are undying and fight fiercely. She shouldn’t take such risks, really."

"I had just visited the Harpist Building before coming here," Lynn smiled, "although the Harpists had no information before the incident, they now have the most detailed explanation.

No obstruction to the prophecy could occur after the fact.

The deities within the Harpists found their reasons.

Miliel was not in his Divine Kingdom the past few days, I don’t know where he went, I couldn’t find him.

Luckily, the Harpists were willing to communicate with me this time.

Baal, for this resurrection, surrendered a part of his divinity.

Rose, always had a peculiar fondness for murder and betrayal.

Divine Artifacts like the Rose could always be recreated, but divinity is different.

Although Baal has been drifting in the Stellar Realm, he still firmly holds most of his divine power of murder!"

"What about Bane?" Hill asked, "He is still being hunted by Tampas! Why would he exert so much effort?

After this time at Santarin, it definitely cannot continue to exist, that was his strongest church."

"Bane... got played." Lynn revealed a sly smile.

When he heard this news at the Harpists, regardless of which deity’s follower it was, their smile was strangely twisted.

Bane had indeed made enemies of all gods of the Kind Alignment.

For so long, this Tyrant Monarch concocted countless plots in Ferun Great Land, subverting numerous national powers, and seducing countless deities’ followers to betray, including a former Paladin of Tyr who now guards the gates of Santir Fortress.

It was unexpected that one day, he himself would be duped by Baal.

Since the Years of Turmoil, Baal had been duping him.

Just like the incident when the Tablets of Fate were stolen, Bane put in great effort, but among the Three Gods of Death involved, only he lived well, not only was he resurrected, but he also returned to great divine power.

Baal was still alright, at least able to wander the Stellar Realm, actively seeking methods of resurrection. Another, Milko, was completely obliterated.

You know, the divinity between Bane and Baal was never fully inherited by anyone, and the title of the second-generation Grim Reaper of Milko has now passed to the fourth generation.

When Bane was resurrected, he even stepped on Baal’s foot!"

"Who?" Hill recalled the lords of Santir Fortress but couldn’t think of anyone who would be so ruthless.

The Evil Faction has always preferred to follow those stronger than themselves. Choosing Baal over the powerful Bane and the weakened Baal is truly inconceivable!

"Lord Orgos—the only neutral lord," Lynn replied. "He is quite powerful, maintaining balance between Bishop Bane Fuzor Cheberi and the former Prince Manshien.

We all thought he would have been assassinated by now, but surprisingly, he’s still around; though, it’s unclear why he would help Baal.

It’s probably the opportunity that Bishop Bane provided. He has been trying to eliminate Prince Manshien and has thus continually courted Orgos.

You know, in Santir Fortress there are five lords in total, and the other two are supporters of Manshien.

This time, in the assault on Agleya City, when command was most coveted and the political tension was irreconcilable, Fuzor Cheberi handed the command to Orgos.

Do you know about Orgos’s famous subordinate: Selura Anji? The former Tyr Paladin, she has built a strong army for Orgos."

Hill blinked. "I only know that one of the lords in Santir Fortress is impersonated by an Abyssal Demon."

Lynn stood up suddenly: "What?"

He paced the study excitedly, "If that’s the case, it makes sense then! Demons love chaos and have always tried to meddle in the realm of death.

That Castle of Death, filled with souls, allows devils to tempt souls inside but completely forbids demons; they’ve always been dissatisfied.

But what can they do when the current Grim Reaper was betrayed by demons! His avatar even went to the Abyss recently to slay for several days and nights!

Demons only have other methods to infiltrate the realm of death, and Baal must have given them that opportunity.

The damned fellow! He’s betraying the entire world!"

Hill tilted his head, estimating, and then realized—it must have been when Mystra resurrected the Black Staff.

The Grim Reaper, always just and orderly, could never comprehend the changes in Midnight; he would rather Midnight abandon the Kind Alignment than become what it is now.

Every time, he would hate even more those foes who disfigured them. Unable to capture Cyric, he could only continue venting his anger on the demons.

Hill laughed, "There’s nothing that can be done; Baal is an Evil God, he only cares for his own survival.

He’s doing this under the watch of the Goddess of Misfortune.

But what’s going on with the Harpists?"

Lynn’s added remark was understood by him; Lynn and his supporter Miliel were still members of the Harpist Alliance!

Would Mystra dare to ostracize him?

The Black Staff left the Harpists long ago and harmed many when he left; there should be many in the Harpists who still hate him.

The covert hostility between Agleya City, where Lynn resides, and Kelben’s Deepwater City, coupled with the Harpists’ neutrality, was already uncomfortable. But considering Deepwater City is still part of the Silvermoon Alliance, Hill said nothing.

But if they dare to sit askew, Hill would expel the Harpists from his territory!

Lynn shook his head, "Sometimes, some information is suddenly kept from me by the Harpists.

I asked Miliel, and she just told me to be patient for now.

It seems the Harpist Alliance is also seeking their own new positions.

Before this internal turmoil ends, nobody knows which way the Harpists will go.

The Bards have decided to just observe for now; our initial desire to join was because the Harpists genuinely contributed greatly to the peace of The North.

If they abandon their kind stance and become merely an intelligence organization, most bards will probably leave.

We wander far and wide, willing to provide information to the Harpists, not for the intelligence fees they offer."

Hill nodded, understanding why information from the Harpists was so slow this time.

Even if multiple powerful Divine Powers collaborate to conceal, the Harpists, who are best at finding clues in minutiae, should not be completely clueless.

At the very least, they should have discerned the presence of a Necromancer, for the Undead Scourge outside Agleya City couldn’t have been staged overnight.

Hill eyed the unusually bright Silvermoon to the east, a nimble figure seemingly confronting the dancing motes of light within the Silvermoon.

Those motes of light must be Suren’s incarnations.

He watched intently at the battle unfolding there, Suren was truly using Divine Magic, "Who is that? Why would Suren be so angered to take action herself?"

"A Dark Elf matron, probably the holder of Kirasha Rose, and she had to come out, or Suren would have the power to shred the darkness.

Suren truly was provoked this time," Lynn replied. "They’ve been exhuming bodies along the way, not even sparing those of Silvermoon priests and priestesses.

They have always walked under a dark canopy, so even Suren’s vision was obscured.

But just now Dawn tore through for a second, Suren must have been watching here all along...

Her priestesses, even if only shells were left, wouldn’t be allowed to be humiliated like this, Suren always protects her own."

Hill turned and asked, "Isn’t she worried about Shaer?"

"For now, Shaer shouldn’t bother Suren.

After all, her beloved sister just helped her a great deal," Lynn said coldly, "Toril was nearly destroyed."
