Surviving The Fourth Calamity -
Chapter 780 - 579: The War of Upgrades, Kirasha Rose
Chapter 780: Chapter 579: The War of Upgrades, Kirasha Rose
"The Undead Tribe has already chased us out of the city." List wanted to report just this, "The Silver Shield Paladins charged directly, they received the task to protect these paladins, so they had to follow out."
"Why are the Undead Tribe being so compliant this time?" Hill wondered.
"There was a small problem..." List said in a strange tone, "William’s filter messed up what Coron did."
"Too realistic?" Hill asked in surprise, "But I remember that the illusions they saw were quite frightening too, the Undead Tribe shouldn’t all be scared, right?
A lot of people like that style."
"It was too exaggerated!" List said outright, "The undead said that the zombies looked like they were covered in cartoon-style poo flowing down, the skeletons’ eyes were ridiculously large and BlingBling sparkling, it made them want to vomit.
It seems William had warned Coron to block some things that shouldn’t appear, but the latter was too curious and used too much Divine Power in that aspect."
Hill just imagined it for a moment and felt a bit nauseous, "Is it adjusted now?"
"The Temporal Artifact in the mission hall chased after that Seraph leader’s head for quite a while, he finally got through to Coron to pull back some of the Divine Power." List said softly, "Originally, he wanted to hear more of the Undead Tribe’s witty complaints!
I think at that time, it should have been the God of Time and Space there, not William."
Hill hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded in agreement.
If it was overly realistic, William would definitely have been pro-active in changing it, but if it was cartoonized to the point of being nauseating, Hill also felt he would enjoy making the Undead Tribe suffer a bit longer.
Especially when the Silver Knights were chasing out, and the Undead Tribe might fail to complete the area task if they didn’t follow.
Watching the Undead Tribe struggle painfully between the rich experience and the nauseating perspective, William must have felt a great sense of vengeance.
Anyway, getting scolded for everything and anything, being scolded thousands of times more, even hundreds of thousands won’t make him feel anything.
"It’s good that it has recovered... I guess," Hill knew he sounded a bit reluctant, his tone filled with regret, but then... he did enjoy watching the action!
Because he was busy with proper matters, missing out on such an interesting event was truly regrettable.
No wonder the Undead Tribe could endure for so long, there are no air walls on top of his city walls.
With Hill’s understanding of the Undead Tribe, even if the large group didn’t leave the city, there would definitely be many who would charge out to test their mettle.
Experience is the source of their life.
So being killed and shrieking in pain, loudly cursing, henceforth they would pursue endlessly the enemy who killed them.
Whether it’s NPCs in their eyes or their own kind.
And the same kind goes without saying, though some resign to their fate, many more would gather friends to fight together, it might even escalate into a battle of tens of thousands.
But, such collective activities are different, happiness is good, happiness is best, dying a few times doesn’t matter.
"The sun is about to rise." Hill stood by the window, looking toward the sky showing a trace of white.
How will that million-strong army of Undead continue to battle the Undead Tribe?
The number of Priests and Paladins of the Undead Tribe was never small, innately they are the bane of the undead; under the sunlight, the undead will only face a more miserable defeat.
Hill suddenly stood up in shock, "Is this the work of several Evil Gods together?"
The sky to the east suddenly became overcast, the black clouds spreading rapidly, and the sky for tens of miles outside Agleya City turned black.
Hill stared intently, a peculiar Black Rose condensed in the sky, swaying under the clouds.
That was... the High-grade Artifact, Kirasha Rose!
Only this artifact’s created Dark Arts, are impossible to dispel by any means.
"Rose..." Hill murmured, he finally realized, someone he had overlooked.
The Spider Queen Rose.
The eternal enemy of Toril and the elves. How could she simply watch the elves rise again?
This powerful Evil God of the Bottomless Abyss, isn’t as easily dealt with in Toril as in other worlds.
Rose and Bane are indeed allies, it would be too normal for her followers to help out in a war aimed at the extinction of elves.
Hill felt a bit bewildered; how could he have forgotten this Spider Lady.
This wasn’t like the time in Teraxil when they were enemies of the Elven God King! Back then, they weren’t allies with Rose, either.
Just had a common enemy that’s all!
If it weren’t for Rose’s power not being strong enough to cross the Crystal Wall, her Maid wouldn’t have missed targeting William.
Hill felt somewhat relieved that he had sent the Little Fairy back to the Joyous Court.
Otherwise, if the other creator of this rose, the Void Dark Queen of the Court of Sorrow and Rage looked over, it was very likely she would also mark Hill’s territory as an enemy.
Hill was not afraid of this sad queen, but, he truly wished for no more trouble.
The complex relationships on the side of Toril, he was almost unable to make sense of them.
Hill truly felt that with every additional friend, a tangled mess of relations followed; it seemed like everyone had allies, everyone had enemies.
The only consolation was that Toril never considered the allies of his allies to be his own allies.
The enemy of one’s enemy might still be an enemy.
Hill felt that even his usually sharp mind was struggling to untangle this conundrum.
"Sir," List looked anxiously towards the east, "what should we do now? Should we activate the Holy Shield of Agleya City?"
Hill shook his head, "Once the Holy Shield is activated, we can’t leave the city anymore, which is too disadvantageous for the Undead Tribe.
Go tell Lynn to have the Elven Guard Army evacuate the civilians of Agleya City to this side, and it would be best for them to come along to maintain order.
Wasn’t the large residential area demolished? Just move a few Alchemy Huts there.
Tell him I won’t handle those matters; he will have to manage them himself.
Don’t worry about the Undead; the Kirasha Rose’s poison won’t kill them."
List nodded and quickly disappeared.
The Kirasha Rose’s poison was extremely potent but effective only against elves; this Divine Artifact was created to bring disaster to elves, spread evil, and weaken the Elf Deity System.
However, this artifact did have a famously notorious side effect—it could create a ’Sleeping Beauty.’
Any elf of a good or neutral faction that touches the rose or uses it for non-evil purposes, if done so three times, would be pricked by the poison sting on the rose’s stem and suffer a fate of deathlike sleep, incapable of being awakened by any means other than a limited Wishing Spell (which can only wake them for three days) and a complete Wishing Spell (which fully awakens them). In their sleeping state, the victims do not age and cannot be harmed by any means.
Hill remembered this artifact precisely because of this all too familiar side effect.
Suddenly, a streak of golden light flashed across the sky, and at the moment the sun rose, the Power of Dawn noticed the swaying Black Rose in midair and took action.
But perhaps because Lansendel himself was not in Toril, the eastern sky only brightened for a few minutes before it completely fell silent.
Hill couldn’t help but smirk bitterly.
He wondered if Coron had foreseen today’s events when he agreed to Lansendel’s request to pass through his domain.
The master sun, still in slumber, had no intention of dealing with this darkness, busying itself with illuminating other places.
Meanwhile, that darkness was slowly and staunchly trying to infiltrate the sky above Agleya City, only to be blocked by a swath of golden light.
Approximately one hundred thousand Undead Elven Priests appeared atop the city walls, continuously chanting Holy Songs.
Although somewhat mechanical, they were at least very orderly.
While the priests on Toril’s side sang Holy Songs melodiously and touchingly, they certainly did not possess the staggering presence of the Undead.
After all, normal people, without long-term training, have their own interpretation of tune and rhythm; they might achieve beauty but never uniformity.
Hill chuckled; these priests had never left from the beginning, indicating that Coron was mentally prepared all along.
Indeed, perhaps Bane’s forces might clash with other cities, and Rose, as an ally, would likely watch dispassionately, but Agleya City, being directly under Coron, wouldn’t have intervened unless she was in a good mood.
Wait, he suddenly widened his eyes.
The power of the sun indeed did not penetrate this layer of darkness, but the beautiful Silvermoon quietly appeared.
A ethereal and clear song echoed through midair.
Suddenly, Suren intervened.
Hill tilted his head in puzzlement, wondering why Suren would suddenly interfere in matters concerning elves?
The wars between elves and Dark Elves were seldom meddled with by other deities in Toril.
"Hill," Lynn walked in, "our people have all been evacuated here. Apart from the Silver Shield Knights, no one else stayed back in Agleya City.
Did List say that the Dark Arts definitely won’t spread over here?"
Hill smiled, "Sit down, Lynn. I had you come over because I’m worried about the poison emitted by the Kirasha Rose. The Dark Arts might not even get past the city walls.
That’s a Priest Legion composed of 100,000 people."
Lynn sighed, "We always thought Dark Elves might come from underground to cause trouble; we never expected Rose to directly deploy a Divine Artifact."
Hill uttered, "Are you that worried about Dark Elves?"
"So many elves!" Lynn said, a bit shocked, "For Dark Elves who please Rose by killing elves, Agleya City is the perfect hunting ground!
This place isn’t like Eternity Island; Dark Elves can only enter through a Portal."
Hill unconsciously scratched his head, "I don’t know if you’ve heard about those stories from Teraxil; I really forgot, Rose would become our enemy."
Lynn fell silent.
Of course, he had heard it!
Lately, those elves from Teraxil wouldn’t stop exhaustively sharing those past enthralling tales with them.
The so-called ’Elven God King of Teraxil’ made the elves of Toril cover their faces and flee, thankfully, he didn’t stay in the Elf Deity System.
