Chapter 508: Chapter 307 Fran’s Departure, Adrian’s Legendary Journey

Hill, who couldn’t come up with a solution, lay sleepless throughout the night, thinking about the naturally lazy Nils. He had no idea what to do.

Can’t make him run on a wheel, can he?

Hill remembered that the thing only worked if they liked it. He had seen a fat cat that lay motionless in a wheel, even if the owner pushed it; it would hang there like a dead cat.

Nils would definitely do the same. Without Sharlene around, no one could control his food. As long as the meals and snacks were delivered on time, he could lie dead on the swing.

But when Hill walked out of his room in frustration and saw Nils running like mad outside, he was speechless.

Valery had left during the night, so Nils was genuinely exercising on his own.

"Nils is much smarter than Valery!" Ula, preparing to go hunting, looked on with amusement. "His dad took a year of beatings to behave."

Hill remained silent. It seemed the Earth Bear legacy had its logic.

Laziness was likely a gene engraved in their bloodline, and these bears knew well how to handle it.

Hill knew every Earth Bear had their bloodline inheritance, a bountiful gift from their parents.

At this growing stage, the three Little Bears needed only time.

Sharlene and Valery wanted Nils active to prevent bad habits from forming, which could get him thrown out by the clan leader to fend for himself later.

Even an Earth Bear would struggle without the clan’s care in the wild.

During this period, Hill just checked the food stock in the kitchen daily and allocated the future rations for the three Little Bears.

A year later, they would be eating the results of their parents’ hunting.

And also, he had to climb and pick Oriana off the treetop every night once she got up there.

Since Hill perfected the activity area, only this brave little she-bear dared defy him while the others obediently played on the climbing frames.

Of course, Nils now worked hard daily, even finding a spot to sunbathe on the frame.

The other two climbed trees too, but just enough to train their climbing skills, usually climbing down once they reached the branches.

But Oriana loved overlooking from a height, even starving a few times couldn’t deter her from this grand activity.

Ula’s hunt ended quickly, and Bucky reluctantly bid his mother goodbye.

Among the three Little Bears, only he truly couldn’t bear to let go, clinging tightly to Ula’s leg.

From touched to helpless to furiously beating her son and throwing him back home, Ula took just less than an hour.

Hill began living with the three Little Bears.

Oriana initially tried to stir trouble upon noticing the absence of big bears, even planning to charge out of the Mithril Range to see the world outside.

When Hill discovered her move, he simply used his power to exhaust the little she-bear, trapping her in the mountains.

Hill only dragged Oriana out by midnight.

As he dumped the dejected she-bear back in her room, Hill noticed the frightened and panicked gazes from the two other houses.

Sure enough, these two also thought about running away.

Oriana’s impulsive action likely involved their complicity.

Hill helplessly shook his head. Bucky might just have been checking the wind before deciding to follow. Nils, however, surely egged Oriana on.

Though lazy, Nils was the smartest and most emotionally intelligent among the three.

With Oriana’s fiery temper, she would push Nils’ swing daily. Hill knew from that moment that Nils was good at sweet-talking.

Also, from Valery’s decreasing return frequency, it was evident Nils understood opportunism and pragmatism.

As long as Nils behaved and exercised daily, his father wouldn’t appear.

If laziness lasted more than three days, an angry big bear would arrive swiftly.

Hill didn’t know how these Earth Bears knew what was happening in camp, but evidently, they could see it.

Even if Nils asked Hill to keep it secret, it was useless.

Hill circled the camp a few times, finally focusing his gaze on the centuries-old cedar trees nearby.

Hill vaguely recalled the clan leader was half a Druid.

With so many Earth Bears around, a few with Druid potential could easily communicate with plants and trees, knowing all the news without an issue.

Hill looked sympathetically at Nils. The little bear, catching Hill’s glance, understood clearly that his parents could see everything happening in camp.

After one day of slump, Nils perked up again.

He scheduled his time well, exercising vigorously in the morning to complete the quota set by his parents, then curling up on the swing for an immobile nap post-lunch.

As for Bucky, after initially following Oriana for a few days, the excessive exercise became too much for him to bear.

Yet Bucky disliked being alone and ended up trailing Nils instead.

But since Nils napped in the afternoon, Bucky played up and down the activity area by himself.

Life at the Ring Mountain fell into a routine, letting Hill begin his training again.

His goal was to go to the World’s End and cast Blessing Spells to aid in the cedar trees’ growth, not to plant them by hand.

But for Hill now, using any spell was challenging, even with Elemental Crystals to replenish mana.

Hill used to think his spells were well-honed and easily controlled. Connecting with Laws required just a finger snap, marking him as a successful legendary warlock.

But in the depths of this wilderness, he felt like an apprentice again.

Hill didn’t dare use his spells. Even in camp, he frequently triggered small Elemental Storms.

The storms he caused couldn’t be allowed into camp to harm the three Little Bears, so Hill had to block them with his own body.

After trying various elements, he found Earth and Metal spells triggered violent storms, leaving him battered.

Wind spells summoned tornadoes filled with tiny blades, slashing Hill till he was bloody and covered in scars.

In the end, Hill could only use Water and Wood spells.

Though they still caused harm, at least his accompanying Healing Spells could aid recovery; dealing with occasional ice shards and leaf swords was still tough.

Hill trained arduously every day at a camp corner, returning in a battered state to check the Little Bears’ daily routines before bathing and sleeping.

Despite every inch of skin and muscle being cut, his Healing Spells proved effective, making soaking in water feel like a slight needle prick Hill had grown numb to.

He needed the bath to ease his tense nerves. This self-inflicted suffering clashed with his life philosophy, making Hill constantly battle his instinctive fear of danger.

Hill once thought finger-snap spellcasting was impressive, but now he had to abandon the habit.

His days were filled, and his fingers nearly battered from his new discipline.

Hill knew Oriana had watched him for days. Recently, she behaved more maturely, not making him climb trees at midnight to fetch bears.

Nils glanced at Hill once, and thereafter addressed him with the utmost respect whenever Hill returned, regarding him with a martyr-like gaze.

The two likely thought Hill’s harshness on himself meant harsher treatment for them, best not to stir up trouble.

Bucky, having watched once, then pushed himself hard for a few days following Oriana, only to gradually revert to Nils’ more laid-back pace.

In this place, neither Agleya nor Fran could contact Hill.

Hill was completely cut off from external news.

Immersed in his spells, Hill aspired to control their effects within the range of his fur, like the Earth Bears.

Hill didn’t aim as high. He just wanted to cast spells within his flowing hair.

But the most crucial thing for him was to stop using fingers for spellcasting; he needed to use the mental sea, directing spells precisely to where he envisioned.

Hill’s days were thrilling, filled with meaningful pain, while the continent witnessed an event closely linked to him.

Fran left at some unknown time, and no one knew if he took the starry road or the Elemental Realm.

When Adrian discovered his teacher had quietly departed, he didn’t spread the news.

The matter came to light only when the Mage Association sought Fran to craft weapons.

Adrian, who had remained silent, then returned to Fran’s Magic Tower, taking over control of Diamant.

Adrian and William took a month off to handle affairs.

Many thought he planned to temporarily close the Magic Tower and relocate the Magic Town people to the capital. Instead, Adrian quietly advanced to legendary status.

As a master of potions, Adrian ultimately followed the paths of Alchemical Law and the Law of the Earth.

It suited his character well, exceeding even Fran’s expectations.

Adrian managed to control the Law of the Earth, using the bit of Earth and Wood Laws he mastered.

The Law of the Earth greatly aided Adrian. Though he lacked the ability to traverse the starry sky, he touched the Law Line, peering through the door to glimpse the real starry realm.

Agleya greeted Adrian just outside the door before whisking him back into the world; lacking the ability to venture out, Adrian felt content.

Adrian initially thought he couldn’t even push the door open!

Joyously opening his eyes, Adrian realized he too had become legendary.

Despite his teacher’s departure and Hill hiding in the wilderness with unknown pursuits, he no longer worried about securing everything for himself.
