Surviving The Fourth Calamity -
Chapter 469 - 267: Departure! Outside the Dwarf Capital
Chapter 469: Chapter 267: Departure! Outside the Dwarf Capital
After confirming that Hill intended to accompany the army to the Dwarf Kingdom, William took his leave directly.
Hill felt that, more than wanting him to come along, William probably wanted to borrow that Demi-God Artifact Painting.
But Hill could now protect his own safety and no longer needed to worry about the Dwarves’ assassination attempts. William felt awkward about asking for the painting directly, so he first asked Hill if he wanted to participate in the war.
Although William appeared calm and composed, Hill could still sense his urgency.
Was there some emergency in the Dwarf Kingdom?
Hill once again concealed the Cloud Ship, invoked the Wind Element Laws, and quickly reached the ground.
Though different from William’s method of teleportation, the speed of the wind also allowed him to avoid most eyes.
He blended into the ranks of the Undead, heading straight for the Teleportation Array.
William must have already issued a mobilization order, as there were many from the Undead Tribe going to Hill’s Domain.
They were there to replenish potions and various necessities.
When Hill went back to the Magic Tower to retrieve the painting, he found that it could only be put into the pendant, not the storage ring.
He touched the pendant hanging on the crystal necklace, which in some ways, after integrating those remnants of a half-plane, had already surpassed the limits of a storage device.
List stood aside, briefing him on the latest situation in the domain.
There were no major issues.
What List was troubled by now was Kais of the Wind Element.
He refused to live in the Elemental Realm but was keen to visit. He constantly moved in and out through the Elemental fissure near the Earth Element Lord, and if this continued, he would be beaten up.
Hill shook his head, "Don’t worry about them. Even if Kais gets beaten up, it doesn’t matter, the Elements have their ways of resolving issues. They’re bound to fight sooner or later."
In Hill’s Domain, the reason the Earth, Wood, and Water Elemental Spirits could maintain peace was precisely because the Earth Element Lord was the strongest, and there were two of them.
They had their own conflicts, but they would unite against any other Elemental Spirits starting trouble.
Kais remained outside because the Earth Element Lords were not sure of this Wind Element’s capabilities; once they got to know him, they would inevitably have a showdown.
Once their conflict ended, regardless of who won or lost, at least in the Elemental Realm, Kais would have familiar elements to rely on.
He wouldn’t be like the space-time element, which is still viewed with suspicion by the Elemental Realm.
Hill knew that when he left this world, most of the Elemental Spirits wouldn’t be able to leave with him.
Even if Elemental Spirits liked solitude, they would still find a quiet place within their communities.
A solitary Elemental Spirit, after wandering for a while, would still join a community.
The Elemental Realm was their true home.
Hill did not plan to worry about matters several years in the future, since even if he left this world, he could directly summon his own Elemental Spirits through the Elemental Realm.
He left the domain and returned to Central City, bringing enough supplies.
List had thought things through well; if the Undead ran out of resources, Hill could restart his old business and sell some miscellaneous goods.
After thinking it over, Hill decided to go directly to the Lord’s Mansion to find Adrian.
Although, as the lord of Central City, Adrian was not supposed to go to the Dwarf Kingdom, Hill was still a bit worried and wanted to make sure.
"Hill?" Adrian looked up from a massive pile of documents and greeted him, "Is there anything? I don’t have time for a while."
"Nothing, just wanted to ask if you were going to the Dwarf Kingdom." Hill felt he really didn’t need to come; Adrian was likely to be tied down to the mansion.
Adrian chuckled coldly, "His Majesty the King has just issued an order. He plans to take away all the King’s Guard, not to mention Spencer. I just handed over some tasks to him. It’s too sudden, I can’t go anywhere for a month."
Hill nodded slightly, "Then I’ll leave first. Aren’t you delegating some work to Belter?"
Adrian pointed to his left, where Hill shockingly saw a pale face staring at him, "Mr. Hill, do you think your Uncle Adrian is a selfless good person?"
Hill smiled awkwardly.
He thought all those people there were just clerks; he didn’t expect Belter to also be hiding there, probably to facilitate task management.
Looking at the dissatisfied faces of Adrian and Belter continuing their work, Hill turned and quickly ran away.
It seemed that both Spencer and the Captain of the Guard were going to follow William to the Dwarf Kingdom, dumping all the responsibilities on Adrian and Belter.
The Saral Nobles coming from the country were not going with William, and their related affairs had always been shared by Spencer and others.
Now the two of them had to do the work of four people, they must be insanely busy; it was better not to cause more trouble here.
Hill returned to the Cloud Ship, cleared out the top floor of the small building, turning it back into a large hall, opened all the windows, and hung up the Demi-God Artifact Painting.
The warm power of the sun god immediately swept across the vicinity of the Cloud Ship.
The vibrant life force almost exceeded that of the Sun God Temple outside Central City.
Hill no longer needed to hide the Cloud Ship, as one of the sun god’s most prominent features is never to conceal its presence.
So his power was the same.
Of course, he wasn’t worried that someone would visit Hill’s Cloud Ship at this time.
Many knew that Hill had a semi-divine artifact painting, after all, the people here had experienced the power of those legendary paintings.
When Hill lay on the ship’s rail to look at the scenery below, he noticed that the crowds that usually gathered under his cloud ship had completely disappeared.
Probably unable to determine how far the semi-divine artifact’s radiation reached, they simply stayed completely away from within a kilometer of Hill.
The power of the sun god was so fervent, Hill was very satisfied.
This time, William marched to the Dwarf Kingdom with only one king’s ship and had chosen to depart at night.
Perhaps because most of the Undead Tribe were already in the Dwarf Kingdom, William had no interest in calling them back to regather and depart.
Although that would have looked more magnificent and spectacular, he didn’t have such a vain pride to do so unnecessarily.
Hill’s cloud ship quietly followed behind, keeping a bit of distance.
Even so, those standing on the deck of William’s King’s Ship quietly moved away from the stern, and most gathered towards the front half of the ship.
Hill felt for the first time how unwelcome he was.
Then he blinked and saw two people talking and walking towards the stern.
One was from the Knowledge Church, and the other was from the Agricultural Church.
They didn’t look towards Hill’s cloud ship, but Hill felt they were there to enjoy the sunlight.
After thinking, he moved the cloud ship forward a bit to let the power of the sun god envelop the two men.
Then he received two grateful smiles and gentle salutes in return.
Hill set the core to maintain this distance after the king’s ship and then went to rest.
His last thought before fully falling asleep was, "Does the sun god wake up earlier than Silvermoon?"
These two, they look a bit alike.
Hill slept well under the combined shine of the sun and moon, and when he woke up in the morning, his mental sea felt a bit more lively and refreshed.
He got up, washed, tidied up his attire, and walked up to the deck.
The Dwarf Kingdom below was mostly ruins as expected.
The only creatures moving in large numbers were the Undead.
Leaning on the ship’s rail, he could see the large group of Undead below pointing at the two ships above and heading towards the direction of the Dwarf King City.
Hill saw the long-lost scene of people running behind a horse leader. Except for the leader who was focused on leading, the rest were chatting, joking, looking left and right, up and down, everywhere but forward.
But to the Saral nobles in the sky, those long processions were still quite admirable, and the middle and front sections of the king’s ship’s deck were almost filled with people.
Hill turned his head and noticed the two from the Agricultural Church and the Knowledge Church still stubbornly sitting at the stern, not planning to move.
Clearly, some mages and nobles were curious about them, but they just watched from a distance and didn’t approach to chat.
Actually, if it weren’t for the kind alignment, ensuring they could last ten minutes within the range of the painting without revealing their lie wouldn’t be so difficult, and they wouldn’t have to fear the power of the sun from the semi-divine artifact so much.
These people probably didn’t even know the lies they told, so they dared not touch it.
Hill no longer paid attention to these timid people, instead, he turned his gaze to the distance.
The capital of the Dwarf Kingdom was almost in sight.
Although it was due to the fast speed of the ship, it was evident that the area of the Dwarf Kingdom was not large.
Although the Dwarf Deity System said they had abandoned a large number of civilians, the actual number of dwarves was very small, even less than the elves.
Propagating in a world that doesn’t welcome them wasn’t easy, and the dwarves didn’t have any local races they could intermarry with.
Hill saw that the dwarves seemed to have completely retreated back to the capital, not leaving many behind to struggle.
Even so close to the capital, there was no resistance, and the Undead army below had smooth sailing all the way, with the vanguard apparently already outside the capital.
Hill pursed his lips, was this mostly his fault?
The dwarf habitat must be a place with minerals, and Hill’s task was very well completed by the Undead.
Even some inconspicuous small mines were sealed off.
Although these small mines weren’t on his task list, Hill was generous enough to reward them.
The result was, even the mines the dwarves didn’t intend to open were found and sealed by some of the Undead.
Unable to find a way to deal with the Emerald Butterfly, the dwarves had all returned to the capital, waiting for the Dwarven God’s solution, right?
To stay or leave, to fight or flee, the silent Dwarf Deity System should have made a decision by now.
But it seems, regardless of the choice, the dwarves were preparing to fight a battle with the Undead led by the King of Saral.
