Surviving The Fourth Calamity
Chapter 432 - 231: The Deceived History, The Secret of the World’s Heart

Chapter 432: Chapter 231: The Deceived History, The Secret of the World’s Heart

Snow Cloud Peak’s lips twitched, and he asked Hill to give him a moment to deal with some private matters.

Hill agreed with a smile.

The smile on Snow Cloud Peak’s face vanished the moment he turned his head around.

He walked to the door and shouted outside, "What’s this nonsense? You’re eavesdropping and even dubbing it? Do you need me to play a battle song to cheer you up? Hurry up! Either get lost or shut up!"

With the soundproofing work complete, Snow Cloud Peak put back on his smiling mask and returned to Hill.

After all, Hill wasn’t the kind of noble who paid great attention to propriety; as long as you spoke politely, Snow Cloud Peak could still be relatively informal in his actions.

The more he interacted with the Saral nobles, the more he appreciated Hill’s worth.

He had complained several times about how overly realistic the planning was, saying he didn’t encounter nobles in his life and did not need etiquette training.

He hoped they could make these NPCs’ ways of speaking more realistic.

Having dealt with nobles too frequently of late, Snow Cloud Peak began to wonder if he would adopt a noble’s tone when speaking and handling matters upon returning to his own world.

He felt that if this continued, when he went home to see his parents, they’d probably suspect he wasn’t himself anymore.

Their son swearing was normal, but suddenly becoming gentle and refined, starting every sentence with ’please’ and ending with ’thank you for your help’, suggested either possession or some kind of abnormality.

"Your Majesty the King asked me to inquire Mr. Hill whether he would like to reserve a spot for a Water Temple in Central City.

He said that the true heart of the world lies there, and it’s only because to the south lies the sea, and the original humans didn’t understand that being the center of a continent doesn’t mean being the center of the world.

That’s why humans have always moved north, trying to turn the wilderness into human territory.

The Noble Temple considers Saral especially important because they believe that moving farther north from Saral would bring them close to the continental center.

But they’ve given away the true heart of the world so easily.

Fortunately, when the God of Nobility established his nation, it was near the Triangle Zone, so that deity also built his temple there for the sake of his followers.

His power is so much greater than other deities not only because he has enough believers.

The King said, it’s no wonder that dwarves and elves only occasionally stay in that place, but dare not claim it.

The true original inhabitants of this world are only humans and magical beasts.

If they stay there too long, they will arouse the World Will’s hostility.

Dwarves slaughter magical beasts wantonly in that place and frequently perform blood sacrifices with slaves, all to make the World Will believe these two races no longer suit this world.

The elves have overlooked the demons’ tracks because they assume it’s the dwarves committing these evils.

The dwarves also specifically hired people from the Mage Association to set up an Isolation Array for the cities in the Triangle Zone.

The more sins committed in that area, the mages, even when paid for their services, will gradually slip into the Evil Faction."

And some people have provided Isolation Arrays for free just to get the rights to sell elf or dwarf goods!

They’re even worse off.

Probably many of the mages becoming demons initially did so for that reason.

Having been completely submerged in evil, they would no longer care about joining the Abyss."

Hill nodded. Was William informing him through Snow Cloud Peak about some truths they had uncovered?

Human common sense, much of which comes from elves and dwarves, has indeed been surviving on deception for so long.

It seems that William has found quite a few things lately.

He couldn’t help but ask, "Any news on the demigod who tried to assassinate me?"

"Not at all," said Snow Cloud Peak solemnly. "We’ve interrogated a lot of dwarves, even caught a Legendary one. Using many methods to gather intelligence, but we haven’t got a single clue.

William says that this demigod probably comes from the Pantheon in the Dwarf Kingdom Capital.

That place has always been mysterious, and ordinary dwarves can’t enter it."

Hill frowned but did not inquire further.

He would face them sooner or later; he just needed to be ready.

"Dwarves are tough as nails; they actually told the truth?" Hill was a bit curious.

"Many Silvermoon Sorceresses went, and their Mental Magic is very useful; the dwarves don’t seem to have high magic resistance," Snow Cloud Peak quickly responded. "William doesn’t want to stray from the Neutral Kind Alignment, so he hardly ever uses torture; it’s all done using magic arrays and these Silvermoon Sorceresses."

Hill nodded with a smile.

Let William fool those Undead all he wants!

Not to mention being Neutral, even those designated as from the Kind Faction dare to use torture. This world is colder than winter when it comes to treating enemies.

"Although my main purpose for coming here was for the seeds of the Emerald Butterfly, there’s also another important task," Snow Cloud Peak narrowed his eyes, "His Majesty the King has always been worried that the Triangle Zone is too large. Even with a great number of Undead People, it’s not certain that the demons hiding in the nooks and crannies will be found.

The families of those City Lords have been operating there for tens of thousands of years, after all. No one knows if they have any contingency plans.

But His Majesty Agleya, the Sea Goddess’ Holy Rain has revealed many places’ blunders.

No matter how powerful an Isolation Array is, the areas where demons have stayed for a long time will inevitably start to decay."

William had seen many places and planned to start checking them one by one.

"He asked me to request some Holy Water."

"Relying on these folks who can’t even tell north from south to break through the Illusion Array, the amount they get is too little."

The Undead People eavesdropping outside were already grinding their teeth and swearing.

They had resolved to toss Snow Old Dog into the mix and see how he would find north in the middle of the ocean.

Hill chuckled, "It seems you’re not afraid."

"Her Majesty Agleya and Mr. Hill are similar, neither would ever completely cut off someone’s way out. It’s just that they’re too stupid," Snow Old Dog sneered loudly, making sure the group outside heard every word.

"You seem to be looking for trouble?" Hill couldn’t help asking.

"They haven’t completed their tasks. Hearing that this place was fun, they swarmed over. I was halfway through assigning tasks when I turned around and saw that everyone was gone!" Snow Old Dog said coldly, "And they even bought queue positions from the newly joined clan members, proof that money used to be too easy to make."

"It’s all gone now! It’s all bought with money paid on the spot! Old Dog, don’t play dumb, those who come here don’t want to make money, they just want to have fun!" Someone yelled from outside, "If you can get through the Illusion Array within an hour, the brothers will immediately go back to work! We promise to do it perfectly, to exhaust our strength for it!"

Hill handed Snow Old Dog a silver water bottle made from a conch shell.

"If you can enter on your own each time, this is your reward. This Purifying Bottle can hold all the Holy Water from the fountain." Hill smiled, "If not, it’s just on loan, and you’ll have to return it when this is all over."

Snow Old Dog sighed, "So in the future, I must fill it myself?"

"If Agleya is happy, the quality of the Holy Water will be better. I hope you’ll spend more time with her.

Of course, you can ask someone to help if you don’t have time, but if you do it too often, the bottle might end up being treated as if it was just lent to you.

I don’t have many of these spiral bottles, the materials are hard to find. I wouldn’t just give them away to anyone," Hill said noncommittally.

Matching wits with this Snow Old Dog will be very beneficial for Agleya’s growth.

Otherwise, even if the Law gives Agleya powerful heritage, it will still be useless if rarely applied.

And Hill was truly concerned that Agleya would become all strength and no intellect.

The mind must be used frequently, or it becomes just a ball.

"His Majesty the King entrusted me with a message for you; if there’s nothing in your domain, he hopes Mr. Hill will spend more time in Central City," Snow Old Dog said with a bitter face.

Of course, he wanted the bottle! It was pretty and practical, and one of a kind.

The silver Purifying Bottle stood elegantly on the table. Its lines were graceful, and it shone brilliantly.

Snow Old Dog’s gaze was firmly glued to it, imagining how stylish he would look with it.

But coming here to navigate the maze every few days would be too painful.

Although Agleya was in Xiu Shen Nation, she was continuously improving the maze.

This was Agleya’s birthplace, and even from the distant starry sky, she could control it with ease.

Snow Old Dog closed his eyes and resolutely picked up the Purifying Bottle.

Then he discovered that the task he received stipulated that he could take it after completing 15 tasks.

His face beamed as he looked up at Hill, "I will complete the tasks quickly! Thank you, Mr. Hill!"

Hill smiled at the cheering Snow Old Dog while holding a tablet in his hand; he would not do anything foolish.

The Undead could be used, but one must ensure a sufficiently high bottom line.

He would never fully trust the Undead.

Honor is something the Undead are prone to discard even faster than one might imagine.

Even Snow Old Dog, if not well-controlled by William and if the interest was enough, would sell out Hill without a second thought.

It has nothing to do with morals.

As long as they believe they are in a game world, most of the Undead won’t concern themselves with what they owe to so-called NPCs.

So Hill always maintained a friendly, but by no means close, relationship with the Undead.

"Baldy asked me to tell Mr. Hill that Alice is furious," Snow Old Dog hesitated for a moment, but still conveyed the message to Hill. "I remember that Mr. Hill treated Alice like a daughter, right? Shouldn’t you inform your older girl before having a new daughter?"

Hill was baffled, "What’s there to be angry about? Other than both being girls, there’s no connection between them."

Snow Old Dog widened his eyes, "Hey, Mr. Hill, are you trying to appeal to the girls’ sense of justice? They understand, but when they don’t want to, they just don’t. Especially in front of someone close, just being whimsical or willful means they’re still good girls!"

Hill shook his head, finding Snow Old Dog to be exaggerating, "You’re overreacting.

Even if they start off a bit unhappy, both Alice and Agleya are good kids and won’t cause trouble.

Plus, one’s in the starry sky and the other on the ground; they won’t bump into each other, so no fights.

Given time, they’ll learn to accept each other."

Snow Old Dog chuckled and promptly excused himself to the Illusion Array.

Hill, watching the large crowd of onlookers, couldn’t help but laugh.

It seemed they were indeed eager to see Snow Old Dog in trouble!
