Chapter 428: Chapter 227: The Black Panther’s Resolve, The Path of the Deities!
Merkel, along with his subordinates, crouched quietly under a tree, daring not to utter a sound.
Ever since that Sea God had called out ’Hill’s dad,’ Alice had been in a mode where neither gods nor demons could stand in her way.
Hill himself didn’t see it and therefore missed something critically important: when deities ascend to their divine thrones, they were also broadcasted worldwide by the World Will.
Although Agleya had run off halfway to act coquettishly with him, the World Will had not cut off this broadcast.
If Alice had entered a state of first-level anger when Agleya called Hill ’dad’, then by the time she shrieked about the cat having left, she had already escalated to the highest level of fury.
Then, when Hill gently said he would accompany her to build a Divine Kingdom, Alice had lost her temper completely.
She stood atop the tallest tree nearby, cursing Agleya in all sorts of ways towards the direction of the starry sky.
However, that Little Sea God had absolutely no reaction, not even a bolt of lightning struck down.
Everyone understood she must have heard it; it must be because Hill was right beside her.
Even if Agleya was impetuous, she would not attack Hill’s other daughter right in front of Hill.
And to Alice, her rage might have sounded like the most splendid music in Agleya’s heart.
The wonderful feeling of victory was enough for this newly born goddess to act with magnanimity and grace.
Merkel lay silently, feeling that in the short term, he was going to suffer.
But as long as Alice did not impulsively decide to return to the valley, Merkel felt he could still endure.
It was just enduring some scolding.
As long as his wife didn’t leave, it was bearable.
Alice’s personality was still quite naïve and straightforward, and although she was angry, she had not yet thought of abandoning Merkel since they were currently following the Undead Tribe to attack the Dwarves’ minefields.
Two days ago, people from the Black Rose had already informed Alice of the revenge plan Hill had come up with.
Alice, having received a box of items from Hill, was deeply moved.
She was so happy that she even jumped into a cat’s prance.
Merkel had then agreed to act together with the Undead Tribe, as his own forces were not numerous enough and still weak.
This was a good opportunity for training, as most of the Black Rose’s people brought their Magical Beast friends, and it was easy for Merkel’s men to blend in.
They had just conquered a silver mine and were resting, watching the Undead plant flowers when this incident occurred.
Hill sure knew how to keep secrets.
He had seen that Exquisite Sphere emerging from the Spiral Pearls before when Hill had placed it near the Fountain Pond.
Later, it was taken away.
It seemed that it was kept somewhere else for nourishing, he remembered several floors within Hill’s Magic Tower had particularly strong Water Series Elements, where even the Water Elemental Sprites would go there when they split into small water balls.
Merkel gently shifted his paws, changing his posture.
His ears were sharp, and he had already heard the Undead’s conversation.
He hoped the furious Alice would not hear those talks about her two daughters vying for favor, or how Alice was currently one move short of a strategy.
The Undead Tribe always had such strange concerns, and now the people of this land might well be astonished that Hill had raised a Sea God. He had noticed when that little goddess declared her Divinity, claiming to be the spokesperson for the Water Law.
Merkel licked his paws, no wonder Hill completely disregarded that Legendary Water Sorcerer’s antics and shamelessness.
That guy, even if he really became a Water Deity, would still be the weakest and would have to worship Agleya as the Main God.
Then his Main God would have to call Hill ’dad’!
He wondered if he was still alive? He might have died of anger by now.
Even if he really became a Water God, he would have to call Hill ’dad’ upon seeing him!
Hill was doing well now.
It was just that he had to make an effort himself.
Merkel quietly watched the small white cat going insane atop the tree, a glint appearing in his eyes.
He would definitely take Alice up to the starry sky too!
He would not let her always be the losing side in the competition with Agleya.
When Alice stood outside her Divine Kingdom and cursed, he wondered if she could still hold back, so aloof and disregardful!
"Hahahaha!" William sat on his throne, laughing wildly.
Hill, this child, always brought him surprises!
He wondered if the folks at the Sorcerer Tower were taken aback by now.
Hill had a decent relationship with them, William recalled, during that face-off with the Goddess of the Hunt at his Royal Palace, Hill had even protected the messenger from the Sorcerer Tower.
But after the Sorcerer Tower clearly sided with the Legendary Water Sorcerer Alexis, although Hill still saw the Sorcerer Tower as an alliance, an alliance was not the same as an ally.
The Sorcerer Tower realized it too late, they could only watch as Hill leaned more toward Saral.
William had observed these magicians for a long time before he somewhat figured it out.
They did not just side with Alexis because he had sacrificed millennia of effort for the Sorcerer Tower.
Instead, they believed that Alexis, being a Pure Water Series, was more likely to become a Water Deity compared to Hill who had too many laws.
Hill, being so powerful, wouldn’t care about such a trivial divinity, so it was only right to humble him a bit.
William was simply dumbfounded—were these magicians really thinking about peaches?
Everyone here thinks Hill is the future hope of the Sorcerer Tower, yet you want him to yield to the weaker ones?
’The weak are right,’ is a form of moral blackmail that can only be bred in a society that’s overly peaceful. In a world that honors the strong, it’s no wonder Hill thought there was something wrong with the Sorcerer Tower and continuously ignored them.
William’s goal was to make these powerful individuals obey social order, including not killing at will—this included ordinary people.
He wasn’t there to bind them so tightly that they couldn’t even resist.
If an ordinary person, being a believer of the God of Time and Space, dared to provoke a professional, William had no plans to kill such fools, he would merely banish that professional for some time if a life was lost.
He could only use his status as a deity inclined toward a kind alignment to maintain some justice and fairness within Saral’s borders.
Just like many from the evil factions whom William also despised, he wouldn’t just wander into other countries to eliminate demons and monsters.
In every world, there is its law, and William could only mind his own business.
William crossed his legs. That guy from the Sorcerer Tower—if he’d indeed risen to be a Water God through faith, should he now call Hill "Dad"? No, rather, "Grandpa"?
He really wanted to see that scene!
The God of his main deity is called "Dad," so Alexis certainly would have to call him "Grandpa!"
But Hill, he probably wouldn’t want such a grandson.
There were probably thousands, if not tens of thousands, of Alexis’s descendants, right?
Though he didn’t acknowledge these beings as his children, that nation never mentioned a Water Sorcerer—they were always hidden away.
It was just that the Water Mages and Water Knights were incredibly numerous.
Although Alexis had killed that Great Noble’s entire family, others had merely abandoned him. He wasn’t insane enough to exterminate his own lineage over such matters.
William picked up an apple and tossed it back and forth. This guy’s chance of becoming a deity through faith was very slim; the most basic requirement for becoming a god through faith was contributing more to the world than taking from it.
All those descendants of Alexis who were nobles, a few belonging to evil factions were enough for him to handle.
Of course, an Evil God doesn’t care, but then again, what Evil God is weak?
Does he think everyone is like the Dwarves, existing as strong beings that oppress others through the God System?
Even if they are enemies, William wouldn’t think of the Dwarves as worthless.
Underestimating one’s enemies is the true foolishness.
But, speaking of the Gods of Time and Space, Hill was really doing great.
The God of Time and Space had already told him that Hill intended to build a Divine Kingdom near the River of Time and Space with that little goddess.
That place belonged to the chaotic and kind region, on the same side as Silvermoon, but at the tail end of the River of Time and Space.
No wonder that foolish dog had been so kind to Hill back then—it turned out he had a niece in Hill’s hands!
To awaken him, and yet the fool gave Hill two demi-god artifacts.
Although one was rather useless, the Seed Pouch had really helped Hill a lot.
William had to thank the existence of that demi-god artifact.
However, Hill’s territory was actually already under the control of the Divine Realm of Time and Space, and he didn’t feel a thing. The God of Time and Space was quite surprised that a Natural Deity was being born in his own territory without his knowledge.
Indeed, the world offers the greatest protection to a Natural Deity before its official emergence.
Just like the initial state of the God of Time and Space, he was not yet considered a complete Natural Deity! But he struggled in the River of Time and Space for so long without any deity noticing.
And this was all happening in the starry sky, where the power of deities wasn’t restricted in any way.
William’s eyes shifted as he slightly tilted his head, using his spiritual power to glance at Adrian, wondering what his expression was now.
After Adrian realized what had happened, he paused for a few seconds before bursting into laughter, surrounded by a group of subordinates.
Hill always reassured him not to worry about anyone.
With him around, there would be no problems.
But Adrian couldn’t believe it, knowing that Hill would eventually go to other worlds. Even if Hill had good relations with several deities, those high and mighty divinities wouldn’t care about a child without blood ties to friendly acquaintances.
Agleya was different.
Powerful divine force, temperamental, and even calling Hill "Dad!"
And that Exquisite Sphere he recognized!
At least Agleya definitely knew who Adrian was.
Adrian just felt that letting go of all his troubles was such a beautiful feeling!
He was no longer worried after his teacher and Hill left, about being unable to preserve the heritage of the Magic Tower!
Adrian, completely unconcerned, listened to his subordinates spout plentiful flattery, his face clearly beaming, "Praise me! Keep praising! Today I’m truly happy!"
William clicked his tongue; Adrian’s ecstasy was too obvious, his thoughts written all over his face.
But this world is interesting, no one demands total transparency between relatives, let alone friends.
As long as the final outcome ascends them together, that’s all that matters.
There’s no need to describe in detail how to ascend, nor to blame why someone kept secrets.
Although it’s because in this world, once something is spoken, it might no longer be a secret, but William still envied the distance between people.
