Chapter 184: Chapter 27: Hill Gets Rich (Extra Reward for Unparalleled Heavenly Master)
Hill, described by his deeply trusted grandfather as naively charming, was still diligently studying Wind Magic. He was completely unaware of the many truths his dear grandfather and Uncle Adrian had concealed to protect him.
Hill wasn’t really foolish, but facing an 18-year-old young mother, he naturally tended to believe in Melanie’s innocence and purity.
What sort of conniving thoughts could a teenage girl have?
With typical earthy male reasoning, once he believed someone, unless he saw Melanie’s true face for himself, his good impressions would only deepen.
After all, Melanie had Elven Bloodline, and was extremely pure and beautiful, appearing like a little fairy.
Moreover, the enthusiastic and thoughtful Lina also made Hill believe that although Melanie might be unreliable, she was a good woman.
Hill had encountered too few noblewomen, so someone like Olivia, who strove for progress, was easy for him to discern.
He wouldn’t be tempted by a seductive woman like Cassel either.
But the Hill who had just arrived in this world still retained much of his old world’s thinking. Seeing Melanie’s young, innocent face, he quickly believed in the mother’s innocence and pity.
Melanie argued and made a fuss with the Earl every day, crying incessantly, and Hill truly felt sympathy for this teenage girl.
One could only say it was all arranged by fate.
A week later, "Set Sail for Adventure" brought a large semicircular box. Hill joyfully sent off the Space Box, and Bex detained it.
After giving a generous tip to "Set Sail for Adventure," List placed the box before a very frustrated Hill.
"Sir, I have already told that member of the Undead Tribe that this deal is over," List said. "This box has been tampered with, and despite Bex’s best precautions, it would be better not to trade immediately again.
I think, the Undead Tribe will always find a way."
"Okay," Hill replied. "Bex’s locks have a self-destruct mechanism. They sent it because they didn’t want to offend me, but if tempted a few more times, they might not care anymore."
Seeing that Hill agreed with his decision, List smiled and quietly retreated.
Hill looked at the peculiar box. What exactly was it made of?
After examining it for a while, he confirmed it was made from a large shell.
He placed his hand on the lid and channeled his Mana. The lid quickly popped open automatically.
Bex seemed to dislike the box being empty, as it was lined with pearls.
Yes, these were pearls produced by shells, mainly pink, black, white, and gold, with fewer blue, purple, and red ones. All were large and round, filled to the brim, and Hill couldn’t help but pick up a few to examine.
Taking out a small jewelry box, he moved all the pearls into it. Looking at the few remaining small shell boxes, Hill took a deep breath, hoping for immediate joy from opening the boxes.
The first one made Hill’s eyes widen slightly—inside the beautiful little shell was a natural Space Box containing gently trembling Deep Sea Ice Lilies from the ocean.
He had heard of this item before—it was said that if combined with high-concentration Holy Water, especially when refined with a Saintess’s tears, it was synonymous with eternal youth.
Hill’s eyes glinted with excitement. With this item out, even sending Bex ten times the food would be a huge profit.
Hill was extremely satisfied. No matter the value of what remained, it filled his heart with joy.
The second Shell Box, when opened, made Hill exclaim aloud.
In terms of value, it might not have matched the Ice Lily, but it was truly beautiful!
The entire deep-sea coral, gradually changing colors, almost glowed in the sea water.
Hill bent down for a closer look and realized that the life force of the coral polyps was still present, making it a treasure for any water mage.
He could create a quiet room of a hundred square meters with a water element concentration similar to that of the deep sea.
Less than a minute of excitement passed before Hill absentmindedly walked to the window to look at the fountain outside, wondering if he could sell this thing.
He reluctantly put the coral back into the shell box, planning to put the whole shell into the exquisite sphere later, and to place the spiral pearl on top of the coral.
Then he decided to transform the exquisite sphere into a necklace for the Lake Goddess!
As for the pure water spring produced by the water elemental leader, he decided to keep it for his daily tea brewing.
After all, it was scooped from the sea, where the water was more suitable, and the coral in the shell could purify the sea water.
Hill looked at the fountain helplessly, wondering if Bex had received some kind of mysterious guidance.
A tool of diligence and perfection, he had done it just right.
Unable to help himself, Hill sighed and went back to his desk, opened the remaining two boxes, and thought, surprise or scare, bring it on!
Well, he thought cheerfully, this was indeed a surprise.
Several huge pieces of deep-sea amber sparkled in one of the boxes.
With this material, and an added shell box, Hill could install a small lake inside his own necklace.
This thing was precious, existing only in the very depths of the deep sea, but it had a singular effect of gathering and purifying water. A building made from it wouldn’t need any array at all to summon water in the void.
But such functionality is something many mages could achieve with arrays and water elemental crystals, and yet obtaining it meant risking one’s life, with no guarantee of survival even for a legendary figure.
When Hill used Bex’s shell to make a pendant, he had thought only such a thing could create a small lake inside the pendant, but even thinking such a luxurious thought made Hill feel he was overdoing it.
Unexpectedly, Hill happily caressed the amber, feeling like his wishes were really coming true!
Even though he had to take care of the delicate creature inside the spiral pearl, with such generous compensation, Hill felt much more willing.
In the other box, there were various kinds of shells. Though not from Bex, they were from high-level sea monsters, perfect for crafting very beautiful alchemy huts with large spaces.
But, holding several large conch shells and feeling the vast space inside, Hill realized Bex might look easy to talk to, but in reality, he was no pushover.
The large conches also lived on the seabed and didn’t affect Bex who lived in the upper layers, but Bex didn’t spare these conches’ lives.
So, the octopus that the players killed, was it something Bex couldn’t handle and had shared the sea territory with?
No wonder Bex was so afraid.
Alchemy huts were such an expensive item, originally not many were willing to buy them.
But Hill thought, after seeing the Lord’s Mansion in Black and White Path that hundreds of thousands couldn’t break into, any player guild with enemies would definitely want to buy Hill’s huts.
He eagerly prepared to draw a few more magnificent blueprints and then jack up the price by three times.
Hill hummed a cheerful tune, stepping in rhythm with the music, as he approached the fountain to change the necklace of the Lake Goddess statue with a beautiful new one.
