Chapter 183: Chapter 26 The Real Melanie_3
"There was no helping it," Adrian comforted him, "Who would have thought that all those apprentices were actually on Edward’s side? They clearly didn’t come from the same faction."
Charles is really useless, not even one princess chose his side," he added.
Having spent too much time with those princesses, Melanie’s days became quite decadent, so choosing a Court Duke wasn’t wrong in the end.
"Who would have thought that those people, along with Helen, would unexpectedly benefit the Earl!"
"If it weren’t for Perast, Melanie marrying a King’s illegitimate son who had been granted titles would actually have been fine," Fran confessed, "She felt the path of a Mage was too hard and wanted to enjoy herself, which is not wrong. But if she stayed in the palace, at least I could keep an eye on her and not let her give up her Mage training.
Two years without meditation, anyone would be ruined.
By the time she finally realized the youth and beauty being a Mage brought her were gradually fading with age, what good would madness do!
She secretly concocted that Youth Potion, but her Alchemy skills were insufficient. The consequence of forcing it was getting nearly killed in an explosion.
"I never taught her that Potion; she knew absolutely nothing about the process and still dared to mess with it, so ending up like this is normal."
"How on earth did she get her hands on the formula for the Youth Potion?" Adrian was also puzzled, "Such a thing is banned by all the Grand Temples, and she should have had a hard time obtaining the raw materials on her own, right?"
"Such a disgusting thing, only those princesses could possibly get it," Fran sneered, "In the Noble Temple, what is not available!"
"No wonder during that time when the Undead Tribe was clearing out the Evil Faction throughout Saral, all the princesses had run off," Adrian realized, "Dealing with this stuff, how many young girls must have been killed! Their faction must be thoroughly evil by now, right?"
"Just let Hill be naive like this," Fran concluded, "I really did not expect this child to be more like an Elf than his grandmother.
Luckily, nature favors Hill, and no one can lie in his presence, otherwise, I really wouldn’t dare let him go out alone.
I’m not worried about Hill being killed for real; he has no problems in that aspect.
Fortunately, it later became apparent that he only trusts his relatives too much."
Adrian laughed and nodded, "Actually, Lina did nothing wrong; she was wholeheartedly thinking of Melanie’s best.
She was much more realistic than Melanie, considering Hill would be Melanie’s security when her Mana weakened with age.
Teacher, don’t blame me for speaking plainly, if Melanie was more like Hill, I would definitely have proposed to her."
"Melanie doesn’t know how to explain it, but Hill always thought you became my student because of her rebelliousness," Fran suddenly laughed, "She mingles daily in the palace and abandoned herself after becoming a Mage, how could I possibly choose her to inherit my legacy.
Back then, so many people paid money to be presented before me, but I only had eyes for you.
Those apprentices, after so many years, couldn’t even become an Archmage and they thought about marrying Melanie, they deserved to be played by Melanie.
After all, they also teamed up with that Helen to trick Melanie, so it’s only fair.
"I really hope Hill will always remain unaware of the truth. It’s better this way," Adrian also smiled.
A knock came from the door outside, unaware of what was happening, it was Marsha whom Fran and Adrian had somehow blocked from sensing them.
It was time for afternoon tea.
