Chapter 109: Chapter 90: The Thoughtful Miss Carl_2

Miss Carl’s complexion changed drastically, "No, no, you’ve got it all wrong! I just stay at home all year round and hardly have any contact with the outside world, so there’s a lot I don’t know about. That’s why my grandfather had Rowell bring me along." She turned her head to Phillips, who had already fallen to the ground, and complained, "Rowell, why didn’t you tell me this was unusable?

If I had known, I wouldn’t have brought it out!"

Miss Carl then smiled apologetically to the Undead Tribe, "Since that’s the case, we’ll be leaving now. It’s truly regrettable, but there’s nothing we can do.

Rowell, let’s go, we don’t want to cause any more trouble for others."

Mobi Chenxin pursed his lips, watching the two disappear into the distance, and said loudly to the surrounding magicians who were laughing, "This level is too low, not even as good as Two Lines of Bamboo!

Even Young Master would not be fooled by this!

It’s not as good as real AI! The method is a bit outdated."

A magician commented, "Reading between the lines, isn’t she just saying she’s the granddaughter of a legend?

It’s not like we haven’t killed before!

I’m so jealous of Black Rose, it’d be great if it were our turn too!"

"Tch! What does it matter if her backing is a legend? Our backing is a god. How could that Legendary Mage be stronger than the God of Time and Space?" Mobi Chen continued loudly with feigned enlightenment, "Maybe William ranks too low in their hearts, or perhaps William can’t beat that Legendary Mage called Carl?"

Watching Carl and her companion pause slightly in midair, then swiftly ascend, Hill reluctantly realized they were heading his way.

Sure enough, they quickly reached the side of the ship, and Miss Carl, without changing her expression, asked with poise, "Mr. Polanio, may we stay for a while?

Please forgive us. Although my status is not suitable, Rowell has been slightly affected and doesn’t wish to speak, so I had to step forward."

This young lady’s psychological strength is indeed formidable, much stronger than Melanie’s.

Knowing that Hill had witnessed everything, she still wanted to make an impression, hoping Hill would introduce himself and allow her to interact with higher levels, right?

Hill nodded without addressing the underlying meaning in the lady’s words.

He was not about to show any gentlemanly demeanor at this time.

He then turned to Srei, "Srei, please bring some chairs for the gentlemen and ladies."

As Srei directed the puppets to place several sofas at the bow of the ship, Hill nodded to them, "Apologies, I must leave you for the moment, I have some matters to attend to. These Earth Elementals are my regular summoned companions, they won’t lose control.

The ship can only be so large, so please bear with us."

Ignoring Miss Carl’s hesitation, Hill quickly walked back into the cabin. He then rushed back to his own room and collapsed onto his pillow, laughing.

Pity Miss Carl, she probably has no idea who Two Lines of Bamboo mentioned by Mobi Chenxin is, right?

Hill was truly worried that if he stayed up there, he might have to enlighten Miss Carl thoroughly about the lady’s glowing achievements.

Hill sat up and looked at the Wood Elemental Spirits nestled among the several pots of green vines in his room, beckoning them over.

They cheerfully flew to Hill’s side, sharing the day’s information with him.

Hill had arranged a multitude of green plants in his shop and on his ship so that they could move about and observe at will.

These were all Magic Plants, constantly emitting Magic Power, indistinguishable by anyone except Elementals or Legendary Mages specializing in the Wood Element.

Hensley chose a gentle slope far from Hill’s shop, while Lady Carl deliberately leveled out a piece of land near Hill using spells.

Hill’s fondness for Earth Magic and summoning Earth Elementals was probably well known to many by now.

So Lady Carl had made a point of showcasing her proficiency in Earth Magic.

Too bad Hill’s Wood Elementals were all chirping their discontent with her.

She had ripped out the plants from that spot of land by the roots and discarded them Under the Mountain.

The Wood Elementals were distressed by the sight.

The Water Elemental remained in the cabin above but was still in touch, expressing dissatisfaction, "That lady used a Water Elemental Core in the house she’s building."

This gemstone, which only materializes after the death of a Water Elemental, can be used directly like a faucet; with a slight touch of spiritual power, it would produce a great deal of water. This water carries a faint aura of the Water Elemental and can serve a minor purification function.

Elementals do not like people who use these gemstones, for if it were left in the Elemental Realm, it might, given thousands of years, sprout a new Elemental upon the core.

Most mages use Water Elemental Crystals for their daily water needs, casting Water Summoning Spells, as these gemstones, which only Legendary figures can procure from the Elemental Realm, are particularly expensive and not very practical.

Hill used to have one, but he lost it in the Water Elemental’s dwelling.

Before Hill descended into the cave, there were Earth Elementals and Water Elementals wandering around in his shop. Miss Carl clearly saw them, yet she still used such a gemstone.

Hill felt she had no intention of pursuing any emotional exchange with him.

Srei appeared, "Sir, I think Miss Carl prefers Mr. Phillips."

Well, once again, he had been looked down upon. Hill retorted, "Does she think Phillips could become a Legendary?"

"Perhaps, Mr. Phillips is bound to inherit the Magic Tower from His Highness Carl?" Srei said softly, "Although you have a promising future, Sir, compared to the thousands of years of accumulation of His Highness Carl, it’s still far behind."

Hill sat up abruptly, "What?"

"Mr. Hensley is observing carefully, somewhat confused," Srei explained, "After all, to people like you and Mr. Hensley, Legend is the future and the most important thing.

But in that lady’s eyes, she might not even reach the status of a Magister—money and resources are clearly more important to her.

So, even though His Highness Carl chose you for her, she does not see this as a good thing."

When you went down, she knew that it was an Intermediate Magic Tower with a Tower Spirit, yet she still flirted with Mr. Phillips right in front of me," he revealed.

"Then why did she act like that towards me?"

"Sir, can you not understand this?" Srei calmly said, "She has, after all, received orders from His Highness Carl.

Mr. Hensley knows about it, which means it’s public knowledge; obviously, she needs to put on a show!

And she also needs to let Mr. Phillips know that if he doesn’t act fast, he’s going to lose her."

Hill asked with some curiosity, "How did I set you up? I don’t understand any of this myself."

"Mr. List was worried you’d fall into a pink trap, so he showed me hundreds of TV shows and movies," Srei replied, "And various novels as well."

Hill shook his head, "Did I watch that many before? I don’t remember any of it."

"Tower Spirits can access your subconscious memories," Srei answered, "when you built List, you allowed him to access everything."

Srei looked somewhat mournful, but Hill had no solution, "When I’m more capable in the future, I’ll upgrade you. Right now, you don’t have the ability to handle my subconscious; it would overwhelm you."

Srei smiled, "I’m looking forward to it."

Hill thought again, "Did Lady Carl show particular interest towards Phillips in front of Hensley?"

"Yes, Sir. She stayed close to Mr. Phillips, her hand on his, comforting him not to mind," Srei said, "The Archmage brought by Mr. Hensley was a bit shocked and moved aside on his own.

Mr. Hensley is still stubbornly keeping them company, but his face doesn’t look good."

"Feeling stifled after providing incorrect information to me and Uncle Adrian, isn’t he?" Hill laughed, "Lady Carl is indeed very thoughtful, pity she didn’t intend to use it on me.

Perhaps she’s worried I’m like my mother?

If I were interested in her, all her efforts would be in vain."

"An Earl at least has a face," Srei retorted, "All she has left is her scheming."

Hill stood up abruptly as he felt a very strong Divine Power sweep past; the territory of the Black and White Path was established.
