Chapter 91: Put the kids to sleep (2)

[Countdown: 00:09:43]

While Tian was busy sending explosion bullets toward Orlon, Medeia had to fight the rest of the creatures.

Her eyes flashed to the creatures that were rapidly approaching her. There were nine of them, each of them were stronger and faster than the the creatures she had killed.

But no matter how strong they were, they still weren’t able to leave a single scratch on her body. Lucian stood silently a few meters behind her, he didn’t intervene in the killing, but he made sure that Medeia could do it easily.

The first creature lunged at her, but Medeia dodged and sliced off its head in one clean motion. The system chimed, but she ignored it.

Another creature attacked her, its claw reaching for her. Medeia ducked before she cut off its head within a second.

The creatures kept coming. She cut their heads off quickly, blood was dripping from her blade, leaving a trail of red droplets on the ground.

[Countdown: 00:06:12]

Her time was running out.

She pushed her body to the limit, ignoring the pain in every of her muscles.

She had killed seven of them, leaving two creatures that looked like a giant snake and moose.

Medeia’s breathing was shallow, but she continued to move quickly.

The snake opened its mouth wide, ready to swallow her whole. Medeia immediately jumped aside and cut off the snake’s head before it even had a chance to strike.

Without wasting a second, Medeia turned on the last one.

It dashed toward her so quickly that its antlers were aimed straight at her chest. She jumped into the air and used the momentum of her body to cut off its head.

[Countdown: 00:00:00]

Medeia gasped for breath as she suddenly returned to her human form. She let go of her sword and knelt on the ground, trying to catch her breath.

Her entire body felt so painful that she couldn’t move an inch. Every muscle in her body was screaming, as if trying to remind Medeia not to push her limits again next time.

’Will I continue to feel this way every time I use the Demonic Strength?’ Medeia asked the system.

[No, Host. Your body will adapt to your Demonic Strength once you pass level 35.]

Thirty-five?!

That was too long!

Medeia even was still at level 22!

She tried to get up, but her legs lost their balance. She was ready to fall to the ground, but two strong arms immediately caught her.

"You did well," Lucian whispered, resting his forehead on hers. "You don’t have to move anymore."

"But Orlon—"

"Let me handle him." Lucian lifted his head and saw Orlon was trying to save his life after Tian blew the kangaroo’s head off. "Do you want me to kill him?"

"Lucian," Medeia called his name softly, but her eyes were filled with rage. "Please, please ... make him suffer. Make him suffer more than those kids."

Lucian’s eyes softened as he met Medeia’s intense gaze. He could feel the storm inside her, her pain and her silent grief.

He didn’t understand how she could feel so much compassion for the kids she had never met before, but her pain would be his pain as well.

He lifted her gently into his arms, carrying her as her body trembled with exhaustion. His voice was soft, but his words were as deadly as poison. "I will make him suffer. I’ll make him beg to die instead of living."

On the other side, Tian was about to pull the trigger after aiming for Orlon’s head, but he suddenly couldn’t move his fingers. "Weird," he murmured.

"What?! What’s wrong?! Are you sick?!" Ren bombarded him with questions. "This is why I told you to stop using that damn ability!"

"Shut up." Tian creased his forehead because he couldn’t stand his brother’s loud voice. "It’s not me." He lifted his chin in Lucian’s direction. "I think he asked me to stop."

Ren, "Now you stop because another person asks you to stop, but you won’t listen to my warning earlier?!"

"I’m not the one who chose to stop! He is forcing my hands to stay in place." Tian said, "Take my rifle. My hands feel numb."

Ren immediately did what he said. "Oh, I will take your rifle. I will take it for eternity!"

"Oh, please, you sound like mom ...."

Tian’s voice gradually faded to a whisper as he lost consciousness. Ren threw the rifle away and caught his body in time. He breathed a sigh of relief after making sure that his brother’s heart was still beating. "I will definitely keep you away from the rifle forever."

On the other side, Lucian walked over to Orlon, who was struggling to get away. One of his legs was broken from being thrown by the kangaroo before the bullet exploded in its head.

"Useless kid," he grumbled.

"Leaving so soon?" asked Lucian casually.

Orlon looked at him in horror. He tried to push himself forward, but the pain in his leg kept him from going too far.

"If only you weren’t so rotten." Medeia, still in Lucian’s arms, looked at him with burning rage in her eyes. "Maybe I’d give you a quick death."

Orlon flinched as he heard her words. He had once believed that his ability made him unbeatable, but now, facing them, he knew that he was nothing more than dust in their eyes.

Both of them were more terrifying than any of the monsters he had created.

"No," Orlon whimpered. His voice was barely heard. "Please, don’t—"

"You had no mercy for the innocent kids." Medeia smiled at him, a kind of smile the sinners always saw before she tortured them for eternity. "Why should I give you any?"
