Surviving the Apocalypse: All I Want Is to Find a Husband -
Chapter 70: Foul Creature
Chapter 70: Foul Creature
Lucian broke the window on the second floor to avoid whatever was on the first floor. He let Ren and Tian go first, then carried Medeia before he jumped down from the window.
Medeia didn’t expect him to do that because jumping from the second floor was not a difficult thing for her, moreover, Lucian also knew that she wasn’t a weakling. Still, he chose to carry her like a princess.
It was unnecessary, but Medeia didn’t want to complain.
Before they walked, she had changed her shoes to Swampwalker Boots, making it easier for her to move on the muddy ground.
"Are you alright?" Tian checked on his brother’s condition. His wounds were barely visible, but that didn’t mean his stamina had fully recovered.
Instead of giving a serious answer, Ren teased him, "Are you going to carry me like a princess if I say no?"
Tian’s face darkened. "I will tie you up, and then drag your body on the mud. Do you want me to do that, brother?"
"Geez, you’re so mean." Ren pretended to cry. "Your brother had suffered alone for hours, but you still let me walk on my own feet."
Ren expected his brother to get angry or beat him up, but otherwise, Tian suddenly squatted in front of him. "Climb up. I’ll carry you on my back."
Ren’s face immediately turned as pale as a paper. He was only joking around to calm down his nerves, but who knew his aloof brother would do something like that?
He shook his head. "No. I-"
"Climb up now," Tian commended. He looked so serious that Ren was afraid to make him angry if he didn’t comply.
Medeia sighed when she saw their interaction. "Good thing I don’t have a sibling. They’re just a nuisance."
Lucian chuckled. "But they can be our loyal company in this kind of world."
Medeia bit her inner lips, regretting to say that after she remembered Lucian also had a brother once. She pretended to cough, then asked, "Your brother was really lucky to have you."
"I doubt that."
Oh, Medeia really wanted to sew her own mouth.
Why would she bring up his old wound?
"Zombies!" shouted Ren as the group of undead approached them.
Medeia had never felt so happy when she saw a bunch of living corpses because she didn’t need to continue her awkward conversation with Lucian anymore.
Ren, "They’re endless. I’ve killed so many zombies, but they are keep coming out of nowhere."
Lucian, "This city’s population was up to 10 millions, so yeah... they’ll keep coming."
"But we can’t fight them all off forever."
Medeia shrugged. "Why not? They’re easy to kill."
Besides, a bunch of undead were equal to many points. But maybe she should check her status panel first.

[CLOSE PANEL]
Her health was high enough, maybe she was able to kill fifthy undead before she became paralyzed.
[But Host, walking undead is not the only dangerous thing in this zone.]
But, Medeia hadn’t seen any particularly dangerous mutants in the X-12 Zone. She even thought that maybe people were just exaggerating when they said that once they enter the X-zone, they won’t be able to get out again.
[You have jinxed your future, Host.]
[Warning! A dangerous mutant is approaching! Approximately 3 meters]
The distance was so close, yet Medeia didn’t see any danger approaching them.
Did the system detect an error?
"Watch out!" Lucian pushed her away, and suddenly something large stomped on the spot where she had been standing before.
Medeia was surprised when she saw a large footprint on the mud. The footprint looked like a reptile’s, but it was more than three times the size of an elephant’s.
[WARNING: Invisible Iguana (Grade-SS): Mutated Iguana.]
Drip.
Something wet dripped on Medeia’s head, making her froze on the spot. The liquid felt sticky and smelled foul, probably the smell wouldn’t leave her hair for a few days either.
She trembled, not because of fear, but the thought of having smelly hair when she was with Lucian made her mad.
Medeia lifted her head, her lips pressed into a thin line of irritation. Whatever was dripping on her was going to pay. She swung her word upward after calculating the iguana’s position.
A blade struck something solid with a thud.
A loud screech echoed through the swamp. The invisible creature flickered into partial visibility. The iguana scales gleamed in the dark swamp, catching the attention of other creatures.
"Get back, Medeia!" warned Lucian.
But Medeia didn’t want to let go. Her blade was still lodged in the monster’s leg and as it lifted its leg, she held on tight. "You have to take responsibility!" she snapped, "You ruined my hair, and now you’re going to pay for it!"
She had never fought the Grade-S monster by herself before, but there was no harm in trying. Besides, she knew Lucian would help her if something bad happened to her.
The iguana roared again, trying to throw Medeia by swinging her leg, but she dug her sword deeper and then sliced it downward, leaving a jagged gash along its leg. Black liquid sprayed from the wound, the stench so overpowering it made Medeia gag.
"I’m so sick of your foul odor?!" Medeia jumped down and covered her nose. She suddenly didn’t want to get point from that foul creature anymore. She turned toward Lucian, begged him, "Can you take it down for me? But please let me kill it."
