Chapter 65: X Zone

[Unfortunately, it takes 72 hours for the mystical compass to upgrade its grade because it has to download every detailed route in Arcion].

’That’s too long! That dum---I mean, Ren could be dead in 72 hours!’

[Don’t worry, host! You can speed up the upgrade time by paying 3,000 gold coins!]

Forget about being kind to the system, it deserves to be insulted forever!

Medeia sighed. ’Okay, process it now.’

[Upgrading the Mystical Compass from Grade-B to Grade-SSS+ by using 10 taken souls.]

[Speed up the time upgrade by paying 3,000 gold coins.]

[Effect:

- Navigate to every place the user’s wish to go.

- Find the safest, fastest route to the destination.

- Track a person where about

- Allowing instant travel for up to 3 people by consuming 5,000 MP (Cooldown: 48 hours)]

Medeia groaned in her heart because she had to spend so many gold coins just to find Ren. She hadn’t even bought plant seeds to give to Richard.

The system really knew how to drain her balance.

But, at least, the compass could also be used as the teleportation device.

"I think I can find Ren with my compass." Medeia asked Lucian, "Can you tell Tian to meet me?"

Lucian didn’t ask anything about the compass. Even though the compass seemed a bit different from what he remembered, he still didn’t open his mouth.

At this point, Medeia suspected Lucian wasn’t able to feel curious at all.

"Okay. I’ll be back in a minute."

Lucian left the room, leaving Medeia alone. She brought the compass closer to her face, observing its upgraded form.

The color had been changed from silver metallic to gold and there was an awkward space above the needle.

"System, activate the compass to find Ren," she commanded.

[Activating Mystical Compass]

[Destination: Ren Zhang.]

[Searching for the destination and routes ...]

[... DING! System has found Ren Zhang’s location.]

[Location: X-12 Zone.]

X-12 Zone? What was that?

It was the first time Medeia had heard about that place. The real Medeia’s memories also did not have any memories about that place.

"Can I know the information about that place?"

[That is valuable information! The system has to charge Host with 200 gold coins for detail informations]

Medeia clicked her tongue. "Forget it. I’ll ask my other system to explain that place to me for free."

[Who is that? Host, you only have one system!]

"Lucian." Medeia scoffed at the system. "He is more informative than you and I don’t need to spend a single gold coin to access all of his information."

[I am your only system, Host!]

[I can give you a discount if you behave well!]

Why did the system suddenly use ’I’ in its words? Maybe Medeia only imagined it, but the system also sounded desperate.

"You’re so noisy. It’s not like you can’t charge me for other things."

The system remained silent after that and Medeia also didn’t want to talk to it anymore.

Around ten minutes later, Lucian came to her room with Tian.

Medeia hadn’t even opened her mouth, but Tian had rushed toward her, asking, "Lucian said you can help me find Ren. How?"

"I can." Medeia continued, "But I have one condition."

Tian immediately replied, "Just say it."

"Don’t ask how, why, or what because I won’t explain it to you. The only thing you need to do is listen to me and you can meet your brother again." She reminded him, "I repeat, don’t ask me anything."

It would be troublesome to explain the mechanism of the mystical compass and Medeia also didn’t want to explain things to others, except for Lucian.

Medeia didn’t expect Tian to agree to her condition, but he quickly nodded. "That’s all? You don’t want anything from me?"

She lifted up the corner of her mouth. "You owe me nothing."

No, that didn’t mean Medeia was helping him sincerely.

She deliberately didn’t demand anything from Tian because she wanted to bind him with a debt of gratitude. In that way, Tian would think twice or maybe thrice before he betrayed her or did something bad to her.

She wanted Tian to remember her kindness every time he saw his brother’s face.

Well, it depended on whether Ren was still alive or not.

"I understand." Tian’s expression seemed cold and emotionless, but his voice was filled with desperation. "Please, help me find my brother. He can’t survive alone."

Medeia took out the mystical compass, showing it to Tian and Lucian. The word X-12 Zone suddenly appeared above the needle, filling in an awkward space that Medeia thought was unimportant.

"He is in the X-12 Zone." Medeia shifted her gaze toward Lucian. "Do you know what place that is?"

A sense of curiosity piqued Tian’s heart, but he didn’t want to ruin their deal by asking a question.

On the other hand, Lucian was startled after he heard about the X-12 Zone, making Medeia certain that it wasn’t a place humans could enter easily.

"Are you sure he’s there?" asked Lucian to make sure.

Medeia showed the compass to him. "This compass is never wrong. Is it a dangerous place?"

Lucian remained silent for a moment before he explained, "After the radiation hit Arcion, there are some areas that get more extreme radiation than other places," he said, "the military calls them X Zone."

According to his knowledge, there were about 233 X-Zones in Arcion, and the X-12 Zone was the closest dangerous zone to their location.

"In every X-Zone, there are so many mutants that are stronger than the mutants in the Black Zone Forest. The militaries all around the world don’t even have the courage to explore those hazardous zones."

Tian felt like his legs lost their balances. All of the coldness in his face immediately vanished, replaced by panic and fear that merged into one.

His voice trembled. "What ... What is the percentage chance that someone can survive in these zones?"

"It depends on the person. If it’s Ren, then the percentage is ..," Lucian said hesitantly, "Around 2 percent in one day and 0 percent in two days."
