Chapter 62: Desperate General

"What kind of death do you prefer?" asked Lucian to Orlon.

Orlon clenched his fist when he saw the Colonel’s head rolling towards his feet.

His head was an evidence that Lucian had severed Colton’s head from his body a second before he exploded.

Therefore, Colton’s head was not caught in the blast, as if Lucian wanted Orlon to see what kind of fate he would get after messing with him.

"You think you can intimidate me, boy?" Orlon spat, hiding the fear in his voice. "I’ve fought strong mutants before. You’ll die here, just like the others who dared to oppose me."

Lucian laughed softly. "But General, are they as strong as I am?"

"You are too arrogant!"

"It would be arrogant if it were not true, otherwise it is a fact," Lucian said.

Orlon ran toward Lucian, carrying a large axe on his arm. The bullets had no effect on Lucian, so the general had to use another weapon.

Lucian dodged effortlessly, using his telekinetic energy to redirect Orlon’s momentum. Instead of a big fight, it seemed more like a desperate move.

Lucian didn’t give him a chance to move. With a flick of his fingers, he sent shards of debris flying at Orlon, forcing him to his knees.

The ground beneath him cracked and blood spurted from his mouth.

"General, you rely too much on your ability to nullify powers. But what happens if you can’t even touch your opponent?" He answered his own question, "Oh, I know. It means you’re the one who ends up in the coffin."

Lucian picked up a rifle and placed it directly on Orlon’s forehead. "Don’t get me wrong. This is just business."

"Eddie!"

A smoke bomb suddenly exploded nearby, blinding Lucian.

BANG! BANG!

The sound of gunfire echoed twice through the smoke, but it didn’t fly toward Lucian.

He cleared the smoke in a second, and when it was gone, he saw Eddie lying next to Orlon with a bullet wound in his shoulder and hand.

"Don’t let him go!"

Lucian lifted his head and looked at Tian stepping out of the base gate. His body was covered in blood while his eyes were filled with rage.

When did he enter the base?

Neither Lucian nor Medeia saw him when the soldiers brought Harry and others into the base.

But Lucian didn’t ask and just did what Tian said. He slammed Eddy’s head into the ground, knocking him unconscious and preventing him from teleporting away.

"Are you okay?" asked Lucian hesitantly when he saw that Tian had a bullet wound on his right leg.

"I’m fine." He lifted Eddie up by his hair. "He sent my brother somewhere. Can you force him to disable this bastard ability when he wakes up?"

Lucian moved his eyes to Orlon and smiled, "Well, I guess this is your lucky day, General," he said to Tian, "We can lock them up."

"Good." Tian kicked Orlon’s back, then shot him twice in the legs without saying anything.

Orlon screamed loudly, but before he could get used to the pain, Tian had dragged him into the base.

"Do you need help?" asked Lucian.

"No, I’ll do it myself. My skills are not that great anyway."

Even without his hyper-precision ability, Tian could still shoot someone’s head.

"Tian! Where are—holy shit, what are you doing?" Simon was astonished when he saw Tian was dragging two people at the same time.

"Shut up. Find an empty room for me." Tian deepened his voice. "I have to find my brother quickly."

The last thing Medeia remembered was the sound of two gunshots, then darkness consumed her as she lost consciousness.

When her eyes fluttered open, she found herself in an unfamiliar room.

The sterile white walls and the faint smell of medicine told her she was in a medical bay. Maybe at the Warstock base, because she could hear the boots of soldiers outside.

Lowering her head, she saw bandages wrapped around her arms and torso.

Her whole body ached and Medeia tried to bear it because she didn’t want to heal too fast.

But what if Lucian had left after treating her?

Or worse, what if he had refused to speak to her again, even though he hadn’t left her?

What if Lucian saw her as a monster now?

The memories of their fight replayed in her mind. She had mercilessly torn apart the bodies of the soldiers, even devouring their souls.

What kind of man would want to date a monster like her?

[Cheer up, host! At least you earned so many points!]

[Total Points Calculation ....]

Right. The system hadn’t calculated all of her points before. Maybe it didn’t want to bother her for a while.

How thoughtful.

What was the point of the Seduction skill if she couldn’t use it on Lucian?!

"Are you mocking me or what?!" shouted Medeia at the system.

"Who is mocking you?" Lucian’s voice echoed through the room.

Medeia turned her head and almost had a heart attack when she saw Lucian standing in front of the door, holding a glass of water.

"No-no one!" Medeia tried to smile at him. "Y-you’re still here?"

"Where else would I go?" Lucian put the water down and checked her temperature. "Good, your fever is down. I can’t take you to Sister Jeanne because I’m afraid your body will get worse."

"That’s okay." Medeia lowered her head. "It’s too inconvenient anyway."

Actually, Medeia didn’t expect much from him. As long as he stayed by her side for now, that was enough for her.

"When will you leave?"

Lucian tilted his head. "Why would I leave? Don’t worry, this base is under my control for now."

Medeia bit her inner lips. Lucian had earned good places like Red Canyon and Warstock’s base, so why should he leave?

"So you want me to leave?" Medeia said, "I ... maybe I can find another place to live."

"Medeia," Lucian called her. His sounded serious, as if he got mad at her. "What exactly are you talking about?"
