Surviving the Apocalypse: All I Want Is to Find a Husband -
Chapter 43: Emergency Meeting (3)
Chapter 43: Emergency Meeting (3)
Lucian preferred to hide his abilities from others, but the current situation left him no choice but to reveal everything he could to convince them.
Medeia spoke desperately. "Lucian can turn stone into soil. The soil is still infertile, of course. But we can collect more fertility stones!"
Oh, just kill her already!
Why would she bother to convince people who didn’t want to change in the first place?
Couldn’t she just leave them behind and move to Red Canyon with Lucian?
[You can’t leave them here, Host!]
[A kind person would never leave their comrade behind!]
The system really pissed her off.
’Your concept of kindness exists only in fantasy.’
[No, Host! You truly can be a kind person if you try harder!]
’I will try hard if you give me a human soul for every good deed I do.’
[Negative! Negative! The system will never use the human soul as a reward!]
Medeia forgot about the system because the villagers had questioned Lucian’s abilities.
"I’ve never heard of anyone who can do that," the villager said, "Are you just telling a lie to convince us?"
"You don’t even know anyone other than the villagers." Naomi defended Medeia, "Just shut up for a minute and give her time to explain her plan, please."
Why would Naomi act like she was willing to throw a punch whenever someone insulted her?
Did she consider Medeia a friend? But did Medeia need a friend?
Ah, who cared? The only thing that mattered was that Medeia had an extra future loyal subject.
"I think you’ll understand action more than words." Medeia threw a stone at Lucian.
Lucian caught the stone effortlessly. A faint, shimmering golden light emanated from his hand, and the stone turned to dark soil within moments.
He let it fall to the floor, and without a doubt, it resembled the soil from the outside.
Gasps erupted from the crowd. Chief Eldric stepped closer and crouched down to run his fingers through the soil. "It really does feel like soil! How ... how many times can you do that?"
Lucian brushed the dirt from his hands. "As many as we need."
"This is the greatest ability I’ve ever seen!"
Medeia smiled. "See? Anything is possible as long as we have him." She asked enthusiastically, "So what do you say?"
Chief Eldric was the first to make up his mind. "I have no reason to reject your idea anymore."
The stubborn Morty finally melted after Medeia and Lucian disproved every one of his concerns. "If we move out, then we have to work hard to build the base."
Sister Jeanne, "As long as you can ensure the safety of the children, I’ll agree."
The other villagers began to murmur to each other, then nodded in agreement.
[Congratulations! You have completed a mission: Persuade Villagers to Move Out]
[Reward:
C-Point: +650
+600 XP
120 gold coins]
[Upgraded Reward: Upgrade Venom Dagger from Grade-B to Grade-A — Effect: Paralyze target for 2 minutes]
[New Mission Unlocked: Move to the Red Canyon]
Oh, finally the torture had come to an end!
That kind of mission had drained her energy so much that Medeia felt sleepy, even though she had slept for six hours straight before.
"Well, I guess our discussion is over," Medeia said, "Okay, who’s sleepy? Let’s end this meeting and continue it tomorrow."
The villagers agreed as the night was getting late. Chief Eldric stood up first, "Let’s go home and meet again tomorrow after lunch."
Medeia yawned and waved them off as they began to disperse. "Good night, everyone."
When Naomi wanted to talk to her about something, Medeia put her finger over Naomi’s mouth. "Tomorrow, Naomi. Let’s talk again tomorrow."
Before Naomi could say anything, Medeia had left the cafeteria and was heading for her room.
Lucian stayed behind her, watching as Medeia stretched her arms lazily. "You look exhausted." He smiled. "I guess six hours is not enough for you."
Medeia turned and walked backward. "Talking to so many people has drained my energy, and why are you following me?"
"Just escorting you to your room."
Medeia chuckled. "My room is only 5 meters from the cafeteria." she stopped, teasing him, "Are you unable to get away from me again after being stuck with me for days?"
Lucian teased her back, "What if I say yes?"
Oh, Medeia didn’t like this game.
Whenever she flirted and he flirted back, her body would suddenly stop functioning and her mind would become fuzzy.
It wasn’t fair! Why was she the only one getting shy in this game!
"Don’t say anything if you don’t mean it!" Medeia’s cheeks immediately flushed and she turned her head away.
After a moment, she cleared her throat, trying to regain her composure. "You know ... you haven’t had a proper rest since last night. If you want, you can sleep in my room tonight."
He used to sleep in the infirmary, but he probably needed to sleep in a private place to get a proper and comfortable sleep.
Lucian blinked, surprised at her sudden offer. "Your room?" he reminded her, "Medeia, I am a man."
"I know that! You’ve told me that several times." Medeia said quickly, waving her hand as if it wasn’t a big deal. "You can take the bed and I’ll sleep on the floor. It’s not like it’s the first time we’ve shared a room."
"Okay."
Medeia was surprised because she hadn’t expected Lucian to answer so quickly.
"But I’ll take the floor." Lucian turned his head from side to side before entering Medeia’s bedroom.
His behavior made her think they were having a secret affair.
"I want to change my clothes first." Medeia took a pair of clothes from the cabinet, then headed for the door. "You can make your bed first."
Lucian nodded. "Alright."
Well, that was awkward.
Medeia didn’t even know why her mouth had invited Lucian to sleep in her room before her brain could process the thought.
It wasn’t like she was a teenage girl in love who couldn’t function properly while her crush slept next to her.
[But your brain is indeed not functioning well, Host]
’Shut up. You’re not invited to my pajama party.’
