Surviving the Apocalypse: All I Want Is to Find a Husband -
Chapter 37: Hot Springs (1)
Chapter 37: Hot Springs (1)
"This is the worst food I’ve ever eaten." Medeia looked at the canned beans in her hands with disgust. Unseasoned grilled meat was even better than canned food.
Unlike her, Lucian wasn’t picky about what he ate. "This canned food was made fifteen years ago, so it’s only natural that the taste has changed."
Worst of all, the food seemed to have expired long ago.
The food even tasted as bad as the food in hell.
Medeia put down her food and said, "How can people eat this shit?"
[Mild foul language detected! Penalty -10 C points]
Oh, come on.
She just wanted to complain, but the system forbade it.
"We have no choice." Lucian said, "People who can hunt the monster meat can survive, but people who are weak can only rely on eating leftovers or canned food."
"What do you usually eat before you come to the village?" Lucian asked her.
Medeia paused for a moment, realizing that her behavior must look strange in his eyes.
In the Apocalypse, no one cared about the taste of food. Whether it was expired or tasted disgusting, as long as it filled their stomachs, it didn’t matter.
Even Bear could eat the canned food with no problem.
"Before I came to the village, my horde also liked to hunt monsters, so I ate meat more often than canned food." Medeia explained anxiously, "It’s not that I’m a picky eater, I’m just not used to eating food like this."
"I see." He took a compass out of his pocket and handed it to Medeia. "Did you also get this from your horde? It’s really useful, but ... I don’t know how anyone could make such a thing."
Medeia immediately snatched the mystical compass out of Lucian’s hand. "A lot of strange things have happened in this world, so ... we can’t define anything as peculiar anymore."
Medeia thought Lucian would ask more about the compass, but he didn’t say anything afterward.
It looked like Lucian knew Medeia was hiding something from him, but he decided to keep his mouth shut.
But why?
Others would probably force Medeia to tell them where she got useful things like the mystical compass, or worse, some of them would torture her until she opened her mouth.
That was because humans were greedy and they would do anything in order to keep many useful things to themselves.
"You don’t want to know where I got something like this?"
Instead of answering, Lucian asked her a question. "If I ask, will you tell me?"
Medeia averted her eyes and fell silent because she didn’t know what to answer. She couldn’t possibly tell Lucian that she had a system that would punish her if she spoke harshly and reward her if she completed her mission.
Furthermore, wouldn’t Lucian be angry if he knew Medeia wanted to stay by his side because she had to complete the quest from the system?
"I don’t know where you got that, but I know that you’ll be able to survive with stuff like that." Lucian smiled at her. "That is the most important thing to me."
Medeia turned her head toward him and looked directly into his emerald eyes. The more she got to know Lucian, the more she was convinced that she had not made a mistake in choosing him as her potential husband.
She couldn’t help but say, "Lucian, do you know that you are a threat to a woman’s heart?"
Lucian tilted his head, smiling like he wanted to tease her. "Am I?"
Medeia almost had a heart attack because she didn’t expect Lucian could flirt like that. His smile, his posture, and his face were a perfect combo to make someone fall in love instantly.
If only Medeia didn’t hold back, maybe she would have jumped into his embrace and kissed those sensual lips over and over again.
Oh, now she was lusting over him.
But could anyone blame her?
They were sitting alone amongst the darkness and away from the crowd. If they made love right then and there, no one would know.
Come on, hold yourself back together, bitch!
[Foul language detected! Penalty -20 C points]
Hey, she was insulting herself!
[There is no excuse for using curse words, Host]
[And please ... be kind to yourself, Host!]
She groaned in her heart because the system was too stupid to understand her.
"Don’t you think it’s kind of hot in here?" Medeia stood and fanned her face. She tried to find another topic so she could get rid of her dirty mind.
As she looked at the fresh water in the spring, her mouth suddenly spoke, "Hey, can you make hot springs? It would be nice if we could take a bath together, right?"
Her eyes widened and she slapped her own mouth. "No! I mean, we can take a bath, but not together! But we can use it together, just not at the same time." She groaned in despair. "I don’t even know what I’m talking about. Hey, say something!"
Lucian suddenly laughed at her, making Medeia’s face even more red. "Don’t laugh!"
"Okay, I’m sorry ..." Lucian tried to stop laughing, but Medeia’s adorable face made him unable to stop smiling and giggling.
After seeing her sulking and wanting to run away, Lucian finally stopped teasing her and held her hand. "Hey, don’t be mad. Yes, I can make hot springs for you and we can use it at the same time."
Medeia looked at him in disbelief. She thought Lucian was high integrity man who wouldn’t dare take a bath with a woman.
Well, a man was still a man after all.
At least that was what Medeia used to think.
"Oh ... so this is what you mean by bathing at the same time ..."
Lucian had built two small ponds next to the springs, and there was a high wall between them, so they couldn’t see each other while bathing.
It looked practical, but why did Medeia feel annoyed whenever she looked at that damn wall?!
"Of course, what else?" Lucian asked innocently, but Medeia knew that he was trying to tease her again!
If he didn’t want to fuck her, then stop looking at her with that fuckable face!
[Foul—]
’Shut up! It’s not a curse word. I used it as an adjective! So don’t you dare give me a penalty!’
[Of course the system knows about adjective words, host~]
