Chapter 116: Unexpected Deliveries (2)

The one who shouted was Seraphina, one of Richard’s sisters.

Medeia watched the scene in silence, too flabbergasted by the situation to know how to react.

A few days ago, Jose had told Medeia that Richard’s sisters refused to leave the Junk Garden and move elsewhere. They insisted it was their home and always would be.

But Medeia knew the real reason they wanted to stay, they couldn’t bear to leave their little brother alone.

Not that it was a problem for her.

The Red Star base wasn’t exactly desperate for more residents anyway.

Still, who could have expected him to pull such a bold move, kidnapping his own sisters and dumping them at the Red Star’s gate?

Medeia was sure his reputation as a jerk would only worsen if people found out he had forcibly driven away his own sisters.

"How dare you treat us so roughly?!" Seraphina stood up from the ground, her face flushed with anger and frustration. "I already told Richard I didn’t want to leave our home!"

"We’re truly sorry, Ma’am!" The man’s voice trembled with fear. "But we’re only following orders from our leader! Please, forgive us!"

"Your leader is my damn little brother!" Vivienne shouted. "So hurry up and take us back to the Junk Garden!"

Instead of obeying, the men quickly tossed their belongings out of the car and locked the doors. "Ma’am, we’re just following orders from the one in charge."

Vivienne’s lips twitched, and she glared at them. Their actions made it clear that, compared to their little brother, they were nothing.

Before any of them could open their mouths, the men quickly started the engine and hit the gas. They sped away as fast as they could, leaving the women behind at the Red Star.

The tires screeched against the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust that swirled around the women. Vivienne clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms as she watched the car disappear into the distance. "Those cowards!" she spat, her voice trembling with a mix of fury and disbelief.

Celestine kicked off her shoes and hurled them at the car as it sped away. "Get back here, you motherfucker!" she shouted. "Tell Richard I’ll break his legs if he doesn’t come pick us up tonight!"

Seraphina walked up beside her. "Your aim is too bad."

Celestine shot her a glare. "Oh, shut it, Phina. Unless you’ve got a better idea, I don’t want to hear it."

Medeia, who had been quietly observing the scene, stepped forward. "Well, that sucked," she said, gesturing to the guards to lower their weapons and open the gate. "I can’t believe your brother actually did this."

"Oh, who could’ve guessed?!" Celestine rolled her eyes, clearly furious at her brother’s behavior. "I can’t believe we were tricked by our own brother."

Seraphina cracked her knuckles. "When we see him again, I’ll hit him so hard he’ll forget his own name."

"If only he hadn’t slipped sleeping drugs into our drinks," Odette said bitterly. "He never could’ve pulled this off otherwise."

Medeia hissed because it was clear that Richard had crossed the line. "Your brother is something else."

Among them, Camille was the only one who managed to stay calm. Rather than venting her anger, she focused on finding a solution to their problem. "Medeia," she said, her voice steady, "would you let us borrow your cars?"

All of them turned to look at her at the same time, the same thought flashing through their minds: Of course Medeia would grant their wish.

But they judged too quickly.

"Nope. I won’t lend you my cars." Medeia smiled as the guards closed and locked the gate, preventing them from escaping. "Your brother said he’d speed up the construction of the base if I agreed to take you in."

Seraphina stared at her in disbelief, so shocked she nearly choked on her own saliva. "How ... how dare you use us as bargaining chips!"

"Bargaining chips?" Medeia took a step back as they moved closer to her. "I’m just helping out my husband’s cousin."

Celestine exploded. "We’re his cousins too!"

Medeia’s next words only made things worse. "But Richard has more authority than you."

Celestine gasped, pointing a finger at Medeia. "You! You bi—"

Camille immediately placed a hand over her sister’s mouth as she saw Lucian approaching from a distance. Celestine struggled wildly, but Vivienne held her so tightly she could barely breathe.

"Shut up," Camille hissed. "Would you rather sleep on the streets than stay here?"

After hearing her sister’s words, Celestine finally sealed her lips tightly.

"What’s going on here?" Lucian asked, his face seemed confuse as he arrived. "Why ... are you all here? Where’s Richard?"

"That ungrateful brother of ours is in his dumpster," Seraphina gritted her teeth. "He forced us to come here because he didn’t want us staying in the Junk Garden during winter. Doesn’t that sound ridiculous to you? We’ve lived there for years, survived countless winters, so why is he suddenly making a fuss about it now?"

Celestine agreed with her. "Maybe he just wants to get rid of us! Tch, are we really such a burden to him?"

As tensions rose, Lucian tried to calm them down. "I don’t think that’s the case," he said. "He told me he’s worried about you and wants you to live in a better place. That’s why he begged me to let you stay here."

"He begged you?" Celestine was taken aback. "On what grounds? Who said we weren’t happy living in the dump?"

"Well, maybe you didn’t say anything to Richard," Medeia interjected, "but he’s been observing you for a long time. Based on that alone, he could see that some of you were depressed. Besides, doesn’t this place look much better than that dumpster?"

After hearing Medeia’s words, they began to look around and gradually calmed down. The Red Canyon was barren, but the Red Star base was undeniably better than the Junk Garden.

There were no devil mosses here, and they could go outside without wearing gas masks.

But the most important thing was that they could finally breathe fresh air.

Odette took a deep breath, her eyes widening in disbelief. "The air ... this is the first time I haven’t smelled dampness or rot around me."
