Chapter 464: To See Him Back Soon

Chapter 464: To See Him Back Soon

The waiting room was too quiet.

Alexander sat still, his elbows resting on his knees, hands clenched together. He stared at the floor, not saying a word. His chest felt heavy, and the red light above the operating room never stopped glowing.

William couldn’t sit. He kept walking back and forth, his steps echoing in the empty hall.

Every few minutes, he’d stop and glance at the door, then start pacing again. He looked like he was holding his breath the whole time.

Vernice sat on the side, hands clasped together, lips moving in silent prayer. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying, but she didn’t stop. She kept praying.

It had been hours. Six painful hours since their father, Rock, was taken into surgery.

William finally spoke, his voice low and tense. "I shouldn’t have let him do this."

Alexander didn’t look up. "He would’ve done it anyway. You know him."

William shook his head. "Yeah, but what if he doesn’t come out?"

"He will," Vernice said softly, trying to stay strong. "He promised me. He said he’d walk down the aisle with me."

Then suddenly, the door opened. All three stood up quickly, eyes wide, hearts racing.

Dr. Ivan stepped out, looking tired, his scrubs stained with sweat.

William rushed forward. "Doctor? Please..."

Ivan looked at them and gave a small smile. "Dr. Watts will explain more. But... he made it. Rock made it."

Alexander’s legs almost gave out as he leaned back against the wall, finally breathing. Vernice gasped and covered her mouth, tears pouring from her eyes.

"He’s alive?" she asked in disbelief.

Ivan nodded. "He’s stable. You can breathe now."

Then another man walked in. Tall, calm, and serious. It was Dr. Leon Watts, the miracle doctor Vernice had found.

"The surgery was hard," Dr. Watts said, his voice steady. "But he pulled through. There were complications, but your husband is strong."

Vernice broke into tears again, whispering, "Thank you... thank you so much..."

"He needs rest and a lot of care. But he’s going to be okay."

Alexander shut his eyes and let out a deep breath. "Thank God..."

William wiped his eyes. "He really made it."

Vernice covered her mouth again, trying not to cry too loudly. They stood there together - relieved, overwhelmed, and full of emotions they couldn’t put into words.

Rock had made it. He lived...

Alexander didn’t waste a second. He quickly pulled out his mobile phone, his hands still slightly shaking from the wave of emotions. With a deep breath, he tapped Rain’s name and brought the phone to his ear.

The moment she answered, her worried voice came through, "Alexander?"

A soft smile broke on his face as he exhaled slowly. "He made it," he said, his voice cracking with relief. "Dad’s out of surgery. He’s alive, Rain."

On the other end, there was silence... then a gasp.

"Thank God..." Rain whispered, her voice trembling. "Everyone here was so tense."

Alexander could already imagine the shift in the atmosphere back home, the tension melting away, replaced by tears of relief and quiet prayers of gratitude.

"Tell them," he said, his voice low as he swallowed the lump in his throat. "Tell Uncle Ben... tell everyone. He’s going to be okay."

"I will," Rain replied gently. He could hear the warmth in her voice now, the weight lifting from her chest. "Thank you, my love. Stay strong, okay? We’ll keep praying for Father’s fast recovery. I just wish we were there with you."

Alexander let out a soft chuckle, the sound laced with emotion. "Don’t worry. You’ll see him soon through video calls. And I promise, we’ll bring him home healthy and kicking."

Rain laughed lightly, the sound easing his heart. "Right. We’ll be waiting. I love you."

"I love you more," Alexander whispered before ending the call.

He turned back to see William and Vernice still holding each other tightly. Vernice’s face was buried in William’s chest, her shoulders shaking with quiet sobs of relief.

Alexander stood beside them silently, letting the moment breathe. His father had made it. And for now, that was enough.

At Lancaster Ancestral Mansion

Rain ended the call and turned to the others in the room, her eyes welling with tears, not from fear this time, but from overwhelming relief.

"They did it," she said, her voice trembling as a smile broke through. "The surgery was successful. Father Rock made it."

Sanya gasped, covering her mouth as her eyes filled with tears. "Thank God..."

Uncle Ben let out a loud, emotional breath and pulled Aunt Melanie into his arms. "That’s the best news we’ve had in weeks," he said, his voice thick with emotion.

Melanie nodded, wiping her eyes. "I knew he’d fight through."

"Yes," Uncle Ben nodded, wiping his eyes as tears streamed down his cheeks. "Rock is a fighter. I knew it wasn’t his time yet. He deserves more time with us, to meet his unborn grandchildren, whom he’s been longing for."

He let out a soft, emotional laugh through the tears. "God is truly merciful for giving us more time with him. Oh, I can’t wait to see him back soon, grumbling, smiling... and kicking asses like only he can."

Everyone chuckled, their hearts lighter, clinging to that hope. The thought of seeing the head of their family well again gave them the strength to face whatever came next.

The moment the news echoed through the estate, the helpers and staff nearby stopped what they were doing. Cheers erupted from the kitchen, and even the guards outside exchanged nods of quiet celebration. The heavy cloud that had loomed over the home finally began to lift.

"We should still keep praying," Rain said, her hands resting protectively over her belly. "He’s out of surgery, yes but his recovery is just beginning."

Sanya walked over and gently hugged her. "We will. Every single day."

"Until he’s back here, sitting in his favorite chair and asking for a plate full of sweets," Uncle Ben added with a soft laugh, earning smiles all around.

Together, they stood in a circle, hands clasped or resting on one another’s shoulders, offering a silent moment of gratitude and a quiet prayer for the strength ahead.
