Surprise Marriage to a Billionaire -
Chapter 445: Hit-and-run Wedding
Chapter 445: Hit-and-run Wedding
Back at home, the kitchen and living room were a mess, but the good kind of mess. Sanya stood by the dining table, arranging flowers in the centre while barking quick orders at the staff. Rain was in the kitchen, checking the oven for the second time and stirring a pot on the stove at the same time.
"Is the dessert done?" Sanya called out.
"Almost!" Rain shouted back. "Don’t rush perfection."
They had been working fast ever since Aunt Vernice called that morning. No warning. No hint. Just a single call: "I’m marrying Rock today. Prepare a small celebration. I’ll drag him if I have to."
And that was that. Sanya had nearly dropped her phone in shock but didn’t even get the chance to argue before the call ended. Now, she was scrambling to make everything look beautiful and cozy in just a few hours.
They had helpers, of course, but Rain and Sanya had both decided to personally oversee everything.
"Do you think the meat is enough?" Rain asked, popping her head in from the kitchen.
"We have enough food to feed two weddings," Sanya replied, looking around. "Don’t worry. Let’s just hope the groom doesn’t run away last minute."
Both girls laughed. Then Rain released a heavy sigh and said, "Father Rock is hesitating about the surgery, saying his body isn’t as healthy and young as Kelly’s. I keep telling him he needs to see Ivan first so they can monitor his condition and check if he’s already fit for surgery, just like they did with Kelly. But he keeps saying he’ll do it after the wedding, and that’s way too long."
"Yeah, and thank God Aunt Vernice is such a bold young lady! I can’t wait to tease her once they’re back," Sanya beamed.
Rain smiled, and the two quickly got back to work.
They had also made a few calls, and Aunt Vernice’s siblings and close friends were already on their way. It was going to be simple, intimate, and meaningful.
Just then, the front door opened, and heavy footsteps rushed in.
William entered first, eyes wide. Alexander came in right after him, looking completely confused.
"Where are they?!" William asked, eyes darting around.
"Wait, don’t tell me we missed it?" Alexander added with a frown.
Sanya dropped the spoon she was holding and turned to face them with her hands on her hips. "Of course you missed it! You both disappeared for work early this morning without checking your phones!"
"Because nothing ever happens this early in this house!" William argued. "How could they rush it like this? Or is this some kind of prank?" William looked around and called, "Dad!"
Rain came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands with a towel. She chuckled when she saw the two brothers frowning, Alexander while making a call, and William looking around.
"Sorry boys, you missed it. They’re already married. They should be home any minute now," she commented, walking towards her husband to give him a peck on his lips.
William ran a hand through his hair and let out a loud breath. "I can’t believe they went through with it without us."
Sanya smirked. "Aunt Vernice said she had no time to wait. Father Rock kept delaying his surgery, so she used this as leverage to make sure he finally agrees."
Alexander chuckled. "That sounds like Aunt Vernice."
"She told us," Sanya continued, "to start preparing the moment they come back because she’d already made up her mind. Drag Father Rock to the Civil Affairs Bureau and marry him. She’s probably doing the paperwork while he’s still in shock."
William shook his head in disbelief, but there was a smile tugging at his lips.
"Well," he said, clapping his hands once. "If we missed the wedding, we’re not missing the party."
"And you boys better help finish the setup," Sanya added, pointing at the plates still to be arranged.
Rain grinned and handed Alexander an apron. "You’re on table duty. And William, you’re in charge of drinks." The brothers exchanged a look, both still stunned, but they rolled up their sleeves anyway and joined in.
As laughter and light teasing filled the house, there was a shared excitement in the air. Everyone was waiting for the newlyweds to arrive.
It wasn’t a grand ballroom or an expensive hall, but it was home, filled with love, laughter, and people who mattered. And that made it more than enough.

After a few hours, soon the front doors flew open with a cheerful burst as the newlyweds, Rock and Vernice, stepped inside, followed by Ben and Melanie.
"Home sweet home!" Vernice announced, her eyes shining with joy as she tugged lightly on Rock’s hand.
Inside, the living room was already bustling. James and Darwin were lounging comfortably, drinks in hand. The moment they saw the couple, both men stood up and burst into applause.
"There they are!" Darwin shouted. "Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster finally tied the knot and didn’t tell us squat!"
Vernice felt truly blissful as she watched both her family and Rock’s family were all there to celebrate with them in this joyous event. The warmth and joy in the room made her heart full.
Even their close friends, like Darwin and James, along with their wives, were there, adding to the lively atmosphere.
James pointed dramatically at Rock. "You dropped a bomb on us, man. A wedding without warning? What happened to bachelor parties and last-minute cold feet?"
Rock smirked, removing his jacket and tossing it to the side. "No cold feet. Just didn’t want the drama."
"Oh please," Vernice laughed, nudging Rock gently before turning to her family and giving them both a hug. "We didn’t mean to shock everyone. Everything happened so fast, but we’re here now!"
"Too fast?" James echoed. "It was like a hit-and-run wedding. One minute we’re all chatting about the family reunion, next thing we know bam! wedding photos in the group chat!"
Giggling, Ava interrupted, "I almost choked on my toast when I saw it!" She threw her arms around her brother Rock, in a warm hug and whispered, "Congratulations, big brother. I’m so happy for you. I’m glad you finally decided to do this."
Rock gently stroked his sister’s back, realizing she was quietly sobbing. Tears of joy welled up in his own eyes and slipped down his cheeks before he could stop them. He was truly happy too.
"I’m glad I did too, Ava. Thank you," he murmured.
