Chapter 742: Chapter 453: Invitation to Go Out to Sea
"You are..."
"Damn it!"
Ji Xinghuo promptly interrupted Cang Ya.
That curse word was a true reflection of what he felt at that moment. Donghuang Island was so vast, with billions of people, and he had to run into the only person he knew, Cang Ya. What was most ironic was the fact that he was wearing a Deception Mask, having altered his appearance, build, and aura, yet he was recognized by her at a glance.
How damn unlucky could he be!
The language Ji Xinghuo subconsciously spoke was the common tongue of Asia, and although no one present understood it, they could tell from his face that this True Dragon person was irritated, without understanding why.
Only Cang Ya realized what was going on, the corners of her mouth turned upwards, revealing a hint of smugness in her eyes.
Then, she also pretended not to recognize him.
Ji Xinghuo walked around the Split Cheek Clan member lying on the ground and entered the hall of the Sea Abyss Hunter Guild, paying no attention to anyone.
"You’re not up to it," Cang Ya suddenly said. She was speaking to the Split Cheek Clan member on the ground, "You can’t even take a single hit from me, you’re not qualified to accept my commission."
As she spoke, the water binding the Split Cheek Clan member dissipated, allowing him to regain his freedom.
Cang Ya’s gaze swept over everyone present, all were elites of the Sea Abyss Hunter Guild, and she asked in a calm voice, "Does anyone else want to try?"
There was no response in the hall.
The Sea Abyss Hunters exchanged glances; Cang Ya had defeated the sixth contender already, including a Sixth Rank elite, but not one had lasted more than half a Star Breath under her hand, and all were defeated in turn.
Cang Ya’s reputation was nearly unparalleled on Donghuang Island.
This prodigy of the Canglong Family owned two dragons. Although she was only at the peak of Fifth Rank, most Sixth Rank powerhouses were no match for her.
At such a young age, she had already made a name for herself within the Dynasty.
Moreover, compared to Cang Ya’s innate talent and strength, her beauty was equally renowned. Countless True Dragon Dynasty men admired her, and she was titled the most beautiful woman of the Bibo Dragon Domain – a title she never accepted for herself.
Today, Cang Ya unexpectedly appeared at the Sea Abyss Hunter Guild, stating she wanted to recruit teammates for a voyage but required passing her test of strength.
So far, no one had passed.
However, the news had already spread, and soon the most formidable Sea Abyss Hunters would come to sign up.
Despite Cang Ya’s strength, she was still at the peak of Fifth Rank.
Among the Sea Abyss Hunters were numerous Sixth Rank Peak powerhouses; many top elites of the Bibo Dragon Domain originated from Sea Abyss Hunters.
Ji Xinghuo didn’t join the crowd but instead purchased several Sea Abyss Maps and some experienced Sea Abyss Hunters’ writings, as well as essential tools and equipment for voyaging. He clearly looked like a newbie who had never been to sea.
While shopping, he overheard the conversations of the Sea Abyss Hunters and somewhat understood the situation.
"Cang Ya is going out to sea?" Ji Xinghuo was puzzled.
With Cang Ya’s abilities, she was more than capable of venturing into the Sea Abyss on her own, and she was an experienced Sea Abyss Hunter who didn’t need anyone’s guidance.
If she needed help, with Cang Ya’s status, she could easily find the best teammates within the Canglong Family.
Why would she come to the Sea Abyss Hunter Guild to recruit?
Could it be that she had no friends?
Ji Xinghuo was baffled but had no interest in meddling in the affairs of others; after purchasing his items, he left the guild.
"Let’s call it quits here."
Not long after Ji Xinghuo left, Cang Ya suddenly announced she was stopping the recruitment, turning away Sea Abyss Hunters who had arrived to apply. She flew away, leaving a group of Sea Abyss Hunters with bewildered expressions behind.
On a street not far from the Sea Abyss Guild, Ji Xinghuo suddenly turned into a less crowded alley and stood waiting for half a minute. In the fountain before him, the water surged and coalesced into an elegant figure.
Cang Ya emerged from the water and stepped lightly onto the ground, her clothes not the slightest bit wet.
She looked at Ji Xinghuo, her eyes reflecting complex emotions, yet she concealed them well, and calmly nodded her head in greeting.
"What’s your name?"
"Yunhuo Liaoyun," Ji Xinghuo responded with his current identity. "How did you recognize me?" This was what he most wanted to know.
Cang Ya replied, "Intuition."
"Huh?"
Ji Xinghuo furrowed his brows, not believing in such nonsense as a woman’s intuition. All abilities were bound to correspond with some Ability, and this must be some kind of Perception technique of Cang Ya’s, but she wasn’t willing to share it with him.
Seeing his frown, Cang Ya suddenly felt a little guilty. She couldn’t admit that ever since returning from the Yuan Magnetic Territory, she couldn’t stop thinking about him, even dreaming of him many times.
Earlier, in the Sea Abyss Hunter Guild with just one glance, she felt it was that man.
Of course, it wasn’t all just intuition.
"Your eyes," Cang Ya said softly, not waiting for Ji Xinghuo to question her and quickly explaining, "No matter how someone disguises themselves, the eyes are the hardest to change. Eyes reveal a lot, and since I pay attention to this aspect, I could recognize you."
Her words were seventy percent true, thirty percent false.
It wasn’t true that she could recognize anyone by their eyes; only very familiar family and friends, or those whom she had observed closely, could she be confident of identifying.
"I see," Ji Xinghuo breathed a sigh of relief.
So it was really just bad luck that he ran into Cang Ya, not an issue with the Deception Mask.
"What are you doing in Cangming City?" Cang Ya finally voiced the question she had since seeing Ji Xinghuo.
Ji Xinghuo replied, "Just strolling around."
"Is that so?" Cang Ya smiled meaningfully, wondering why he would disguise himself just to stroll, but she switched to another topic instead, "I heard you joined the Titanium Cobalt Family and are betrothed to Titanium Cobalt Qingwei. Does she allow you to leave?"
"You know so much about my affairs?" Ji Xinghuo sensed something was off with her.
The matter of the arranged marriage wasn’t a secret within the Titanium Cobalt Family; it was practically public knowledge.
But by then, Cang Ya had already left.
How would she know about her relationship with Qingwei while on Donghuang Island, and why did her words sound somewhat sour?
A flicker of panic crossed Cang Ya’s face, yet she managed to feign indifference, smoothing her hair before replying lightly, "As a friend, it’s normal to be concerned."
Ji Xinghuo was utterly baffled.
Are we that close? When did we become friends, and how come I don’t know about it?
He admired the stunning beauty before him and suddenly realized something, swallowing the words that had almost escaped his lips.
"Since you’re just strolling around, you must have some free time," Cang Ya finally revealed her intention. "I’d like to invite you to go to sea with me."
Going to sea in the Bibo Dragon Domain meant entering the Sea Abyss.
"What for?" Ji Xinghuo asked.
"For hunting and adventure, of course." Cang Ya glanced around. The two conversing by the fountain had already attracted the attention of passersby. She suggested, "This isn’t the place to talk. If you trust me, come with me."
Her figure turned into a stream of water and took flight, heading toward the seaside of Donghuang Island.
Ji Xinghuo thought for a moment and followed her.
Side by side, the two flew over the city airspace, quickly reaching the seaside. Cang Ya slowed down and descended as the water below violently churned and parted, revealing a colossal creature rising from the sea.
It was an Earthquake Level Canglong!
Over 150 meters in length, it had gray-blue scales the size of millstones, smooth and hard. As the water flowed over them, it refracted the azure sky, the creature’s massive body resembling a small island in the ocean.
Cang Ya landed on the back of the Canglong, gesturing an invitation for Ji Xinghuo to join her.
Ji Xinghuo also stepped onto the back of the Canglong, the surging life force beneath his feet sending a thrill through him.
"Its name is ’Shui Yun,’ my dragon," Cang Ya introduced.
Ji Xinghuo nodded.
As the Canglong received both passengers, it immediately dove.
A translucent water curtain enveloped the two, keeping the sea at bay. The Canglong’s huge form melded with the water, becoming a torrential current speeding through the sea, its velocity rivaling that of flight.
A moment later.
The Canglong had swum over a hundred kilometers away from the Donghuang Sea, accelerating instead of slowing down.
Almost three hundred kilometers later, a picturesque island appeared in front of them.
There were white stoned manors on the island, exquisitely elegant, nestled in a beautiful garden. The Canglong swam to the vertical cliffs on one side of the island and entered through a purpose-carved entrance into an artificial lake at the island’s center.
Whoosh whoosh...
The Canglong resurfaced on the lake, creating a bridge of water to the shore. After Cang Ya and Ji Xinghuo went ashore, it submerged once again into the lake’s depths.
Cang Ya clapped her hands.
A Merfolk housekeeper, completely enclosed in a bubble, hurriedly floated over, respectfully addressing, "Mistress."
Ji Xinghuo took a longer look at her.
The Merfolk’s appearance was similar to the mermaids of Earth’s legends, with a human upper body and a long fish-like tail resembling a serpent’s. Their skin was covered in colorful scales like a shell, but their features were not at all attractive.
At least not to human aesthetics, with their overly ferocious faces, pointed mouths and sharp teeth, upturned eyes, and heads adorned with rows of fins extending to their tails. Their hands were clawed, with webbing between the fingers.
The Merfolk society was matriarchal, with most males being their slaves.
This Merfolk housekeeper was a Sixth Rank Mutant, equivalent to a Second Dan Heavenly King, but before Cang Ya, she seemed quite lowly, presenting a servile demeanor.
"Give Shui Yun an extra meal, feed it more of its favorite Spike-toothed Sharks," Cang Ya instructed.
"Yes, Mistress."
The Merfolk housekeeper retreated in her bubble, soon returning with a group of muscular male Merfolk and Split Cheek Clan servants, carrying massive chests filled with various fish species, weighing tens of tons, all dumped into the lake to feed the Canglong.
Cang Ya led Ji Xinghuo into a lakeside reception hall, its decor elegant and classic. Two Merfolk maids brought out fruit pastries.
"Please, help yourself," Cang Ya said.
"Now you can talk," Ji Xinghuo wasn’t much interested in the food, taking a couple of sips from his drink instead.
Cang Ya nodded slightly, looking at Ji Xinghuo. "I’d like to invite you to go with me to the Sea Abyss, to tame a wild dragon."
A wild dragon?
This was what the people of the True Dragon Dynasty called dragons that bred and grew in the wild.
The Dynasty had persisted for over a million years. Today, in the True Dragon Territory, almost all dragons were domesticated and bred, with wild dragons being exceedingly rare, typically found only in the most dangerous regions, like the Sea Abyss.
In fact, there were more wild dragons in the Sea Abyss than anywhere else, accounting for more than two-thirds of all wild dragons.
So the probability of encountering wild dragons in the Sea Abyss was also higher.
"Don’t you already have two dragons?" Ji Xinghuo remembered that Cang Ya also had an Ice Soul Dragon, also a Sky Dragon Species.
Cang Ya replied, "My path to advancement is that of a ’Dragon Shepherd.’ Naturally, the more suitable dragons I have, the better it is."
A Dragon Shepherd was a Dragon Lord who owned two or more dragons.
Within the True Dragon Dynasty, not many Dragon Lords chose this path to advancement.
Firstly, it demanded high quality and potential in dragons, worth only if they were of the Sky Dragon Species, as having too many might become a liability.
Secondly, each dragon occupied one of the Dragon Vein User’s Ability copy instances; the more dragons one had, the higher the demand for space-expanding oddities, which could impact the Dragon Lord’s own Ability system and evolution, leading to a case of misdirected priorities.
"What kind of wild dragon is worth your effort?" Ji Xinghuo inquired.
Cang Ya did not respond; instead, she gathered the water at her fingertips into a stream that formed words in the air: "Cloud Sea Dragon."
