Superhumans of the Dome City -
Chapter 433 - 433 5 The Shiyu Family Part 1
433: Chapter 5: The Shiyu Family (Part 1) 433: Chapter 5: The Shiyu Family (Part 1) Weiyuan City, Jiushijiu Tower.
The warm sunlight of three o’clock in the afternoon struck the vermilion tower, casting a slightly warm luster on the metallic shell of the tall tower.
This once bifurcated landmark of Weiyuan looked unchanged from before because the power of the Creator Realm Mage had perfectly restored its exterior, with only minor changes made inside.
This is why the new rulers of Zero Island had to rely on steel cables to shuttle between floors these past few days, though the ninjas themselves didn’t mind such trifles.
“Please.”
In the middle floor’s tea room of Jing Tower, Zuiyan personally brewed tea and offered it to two honored guests.
Gongsun Ce was seated opposite at the tatami, graciously accepting the tea while surveying the room’s decor.
The room was semi-open, with sliding wooden doors leading to an ancient-style miniature garden outside, while inside was an elegant room decorated with gold leaf, making it hard to imagine they were inside a high tower at the city center.
Had the old ninja not explained beforehand, Gongsun Ce would never have guessed the place was temporarily converted from a storeroom.
How meticulous can these ninjas be, to go to such lengths for a reception room?
He wouldn’t voice this thought, however, first because it would be impolite, and second because he wasn’t the main guest being received.
Sitting before him, Shiyu Lianyi responded with perfect tea ceremony etiquette to the elder – he was the true participant in the conversation.
“Thank you,” Mr.
Shiyu set down the teacup and replied with a detached smile, “I’ll cut straight to the point.
May I inquire about what Zuiyan-san wishes to discuss?”
“The truth is, it concerns what comes next.”
The short-statured ninja removed his mask, revealing a face covered with wrinkles.
Although Zuiyan had stood strong at the forefront through sheer will, the loose skin and murky eyes could not lie.
He was already an old man.
“With the death of the Huojin God and Shiyu Genmi, the turmoil on Zero Island has temporarily subsided,” Zuiyan bowed his head, “but I am aware that this is merely an illusion.
The tangle of cause and effect is far from over.”
“The tragedy of the entire Shiyu family cannot be ended by slaying Shiyu Genmi.
It’s a tragedy jointly brought about by all lunatics, not just Shiyu Genmi, but also Shanqi, Zongben Yuan, and the rulers of that time…
including, myself.”
The elderly man drew a short knife from his waist and reverently placed it on the table with both hands.
“I have made too many mistakes,” the old ninja said solemnly, “beyond the scope of any awakening or repentance to make amends.
Please behead me to serve as the end of this karma.”
He took two steps back, and knelt before the young man, his forehead touching the floor.
This posture, known as dogeza, signaled a surrender of all resistance and dignity, an attitude of being at another’s mercy.
In Zero Island, there was no posture lower than this.
Shiyu Lianyi took the short knife.
The blade silently slid from its sheath, its bright surface mirroring the indifferent eyes of the avenger.
Clang.
There was no thud of a sharp blade chopping into flesh, only the soft sound of the blade being sheathed once more.
“Please stand up, Zuiyan-san.”
Shiyu Lianyi, holding the knife with both hands, pushed it back to the other end of the low table.
“I could take your life here, but what would I do after?
Am I to prepare a list, tracking down researchers who fled halfway, retired entrepreneurs, ninjas who attended meetings, and kill every person involved in the Shiyu plan one by one, then allow their innocent families to fall into hatred while staring at their corpses?”
“I believe that would be the true unending entanglement of fate, and my role as an avenger is done,” Shiyu Lianyi said calmly, recalling his father’s words before he died, “My revenge ended with the death of Shiyu Genmi—I believe Sister Ling thought the same.”
“You are a clear-headed ninja.
I believe under your leadership this organization will take a different path.
So please, don’t say such things again.
Live on, and consider it contributing to the prevention of similar tragedies from repeating.”
“…”
The old man stood up and sheathed the short knife.
He bowed deeply, saying in a solemn voice, “I will not forget!”
“Don’t worry about it!
However, I can only speak for myself and Sister Ling.
As for what the other Shiyus will do, it’s beyond my control.” The young man in the suit finished his tea and rose with composure.
“Please wait a moment,” Zuiyan put on his mask and spoke once more as a ninja, “After the death of Shiyu Genmi, you and Shiyu Zhongyi are the only two heirs to Yucun Pharmaceutical.
But the condition of Shiyu Zhongyi is far from ideal…”
“I renounce my right to the inheritance.
The future development of this enterprise will be for the Martial Arts Association to decide.”
“Understood.”
Zuiyan rose first, opening the wooden doors for both of them.
Two rows of unarmed ninjas stood neatly outside; upon the doors opening, they bowed in unison, a silent and sincere gesture to bid farewell as they departed.
Gongsun Ce breathed a sigh of relief in his mind, thinking, it’s finally over.
“You really treat me like one of your own,” Gongsun Ce sighed, “You brought me along to act as a bodyguard to such an event?”
“Sorry, I didn’t want Kardesia to be involved in these matters, and Sister Ling left all related affairs to me,” Shiyu Lianyi spread his hands, “After thinking it over, I could only ask for your help.”
As the two college students walked out the main entrance of Jing Tower, Gongsun Ce squinted against the sunlight and raised his hand to shield his eyes.
