Superhumans of the Dome City
Chapter 268 - 268 31 Intertwined Dreams 2

268: Chapter 31: Intertwined Dreams (2) 268: Chapter 31: Intertwined Dreams (2) Gongsun Ce came up with an excellent lie: I’m not an illusion, I am the power bestowed upon you by Gongsun Ce.

For a split second, he almost blurted it out, but his conscience stopped his impulse.

Forget it, that’s too immoral, and if he said it, Shiyu Ling might never sleep well again.

As a result, the greying young man let the furious woman punch him a few times before raising his hands and saying, “That’s enough, okay?

I’m only in the Spirit Illumination Realm, and do not have the ability to hack into your dreams.”

Shiyu Ling pulled out a short arrow.

“Go to hell!!!” Gongsun Ce quickly grabbed her wrist, and using his arm strength, he stabbed downward with the dark arrow.

The short arrow penetrated the young man’s abdomen, and crimson blood flowed along the arrowhead, staining his clothes red.

Shiyu Ling was stunned.

Gongsun Ce took the opportunity to pull out the short arrow and stabbed himself again.

The black-haired woman let go of the short arrow and stepped back two steps.

“I…” Unconscious murmurs followed by a clear assertion, “You’re insane.”

“Calmed down yet?

If you’re not satisfied, I can stab myself a few more times.”

Gongsun Ce, supporting himself on the floor, stood up.

He expressionlessly pulled out the short arrow, pressing his hand tightly against his abdomen.

“Anxin, I won’t ask about your dreams.”

Shiyu Ling looked at him darkly, the nearly emotionally uncontrolled woman was forcibly pulled back to the edge of rationality by the other’s act of self-harm.

“…Tell me what exactly is going on.”

·

Telekinesis and White Matter Fruit inevitably failed again.

Gongsun Ce found an emergency kit, spent five minutes bandaging his wound, and incidentally explained the whole story.

He cautiously omitted all previously unheard terms, replacing them with “somebody” and “something”—he could allow himself to be foolhardy, but he could not let this matter affect others.

“—You have Netherworld Eyes in your heart?!

You even used them to observe the vortex of Zero Island?!” Shiyu Ling nearly hysterical, “Have you and Sky Extreme gone mad?!”

Compared to you who summoned monarchs, I’m still quite normal.

“Let’s not talk about these for now, anyway, I got thrown here by somebody.” The superpower user spread his hands, “Please help me get out, Miss Shiyu, otherwise it will be torturous for both of us.”

“This isn’t a problem that can be solved by just kicking you out, do you understand what has been done to you?!!

You are on my path, our dreams have intertwined!!”

Gongsun Ce scratched his head and said honestly, “I don’t understand.”

The black-haired Shiyu Ling, furious, found some paper and a pen; she drew a small circle at one end of the paper and a larger circle at the other, connecting them with a line segment.

“This is the starting point of your path,” she pointed at the small circle, and then tracing the line towards the large circle, “This is the endpoint, where you met somebody.

I don’t understand what you encountered, but you entered the end of the Spiritual Image Road.”

Spiritual Image Road?

“Wait wait wait Miss Shiyu, I entered the Spiritual Image Road?!!

What I saw was clearly—”

“Of course it’s the Spiritual Image Road.

How could you have walked into my dream from any other path?” Shiyu Ling mocked, “Keep thinking, I can’t wait to see you go mad.”

I am a water droplet.

Gongsun Ce silently repeated, Water droplet, water droplet, water droplet.

“Your Spirit Light is fixed in Silent Phase, but you initially walked the Spiritual Image Road.

Normally, you would have a severe mental split due to the conflict of powers from the two heart phases, and further affected by the abnormality of your Spirit Light to the body, turning you into a low intelligence monster with two or three heads and seven or eight arms,” Shiyu Ling coldly stated, “I’m not exaggerating; Shiyu Genmi created many such creatures, all of which I’ve killed.”

…My god.

Gongsun Ce sincerely said, “Help me out, Miss Shiyu, you wouldn’t want to see me in your dreams every night, right?”

“Shut up!” Shiyu Ling inexplicably yelled.

She picked up a second piece of paper and drew similar representations of the road and circles: “You’ve already been rescued.

I don’t understand how he did it, I guess it’s like this.”

She stuck the two pieces of paper together.

The representing endpoint circles coincided on the inside and outside.

She pointed back and forth.

“From after your endpoint, the location of that person, to the endpoint of my road.” The pencil traced back from the end of the second road, “Moving counter from the end of my road, away from the most dangerous area, to this deep dream state.” She darkened the position close to the starting point.

After saying all this, she threw down the paper, frantically exclaiming, “Got it now?!!

Your dreams are entangled with my dreams by some person, you fool!!

We must dismantle the dreams; otherwise, we’ll end up trapped in them for life like those who failed in Spirit Illumination!”

Gongsun Ce meekly said, “Please teach me, Miss Shiyu.”

“How could I possibly have such experience?!!

I’ve never heard of such an absurd thing!”

I thought you knew what you were talking about…

turns out you’re guessing too…

“What do we do then?

Play it by ear?”

Shiyu Ling walked to the front door of her…

Kardesia’s home.

After pondering for a while, she said, “That person told you to take my path back?”

Gongsun Ce nodded.

“Tsk, it might be a node…

Play it by ear then.” Shiyu Ling shook her head, “Stay behind me, shut your mouth, and don’t you dare do anything unnecessary or I’ll deal with you first.”

Gongsun Ce nodded repeatedly, at this point, he couldn’t afford not to listen to the expert.

As for whether Shiyu Ling would harm him now…

what could he do if she harbored ill intentions?

He had to adapt and react.

Shiyu Ling opened the door and led the way out of the apartment, and he quickly followed.

But just then, a bizarre change occurred in front of his eyes: Shiyu Ling, who had just walked out, disappeared in an instant, and where the door had been, a white wall appeared.

Then his vision blurred.

“Holy shit, this can’t be happening!”

It was exactly as he had anticipated.

Just as Gongsun Ce had experienced in his Spirit Illumination dreams, his surroundings changed completely with the arrival of dizziness.

In the blink of an eye, he found himself standing inside a completely different house, and there was no sign of Shiyu Ling next to him!

Gongsun Ce looked around, his eyes twitching.

He was one hundred percent sure he had never been to this place before, so in whose dream was he now?

…And in whose dream had the vanished Shiyu Ling gone?

Shiyu Ling stood at the beginning of a corridor.

She believed she was in some sort of enclosed, large facility, suggested by the metallic ceiling, floor, and walls, as well as evenly distributed lights.

This was neither the Shiyu Research Institute nor a house she had lived in before; it was a completely unfamiliar place.

Her first reaction was to look back, only to see a cold wall; the annoying superpower user was not by her side.

“…Gongsun Ce’s dream?” she muttered to herself.

Shiyu Ling shaded the light with her hand to create a shadow, but Shadow Orchid did not appear.

That’s why she hated these special dreams.

Dreams always stripped people of all their extraordinary powers, exposing their stupid, powerless, and cowardly sides.

As a Manifestation Mage, she had long been able to completely control her own dreams, but this chaotic dream tonight made her feel the sensation of being a mere mortal after a long time.

Shiyu Ling steadied her mind and checked her personal items.

Short arrows, windbreaker, wallet, gadgets, mobile phone… All her usual carried items were there, but the collar around her neck was missing.

She turned on her phone to check the time.

The screen showed it was July 14, 2000, 10:04 AM.

The summer of ten years ago.

The reality reflected in this dream took place in the year the calamity of the sky descended and the Dragon Species appeared.

At that time, she was in the most painful stage of her life, so Shiyu Ling did not know much about what happened during that period.

Shiyu Ling thought mockingly that, in fact, she did not have a deep understanding of anything; before meeting Sky Extreme, she didn’t even understand the true power of the Impermanence Skill.

She gathered her thoughts and cautiously moved along the corridor.

After walking for a little over a minute, she arrived at a crossroads.

Apart from the corridor she was in, the other three directions were engulfed in fog-like darkness.

Shiyu Ling heard a series of footsteps coming from ahead, and without a second thought, she dashed into the dark passageway on her right, taking out a compact mirror to observe the situation.

In the mirror, she saw four fully armed soldiers coming to the crossroad.

They wore steel helmets and goggles, specially equipped battle suits, and carried assault rifles, along with tactical pry bars, pistols, and various other weapons.

Shiyu Ling glanced at the mirror and then put it away, knowing she stood no chance against the four men without the Impermanence Skill.

From their walking posture, she deduced they would head to the left passageway, and then she silently moved two steps deeper into the passageway.

Seemingly shielded by the mysterious darkness, the soldiers did not notice her presence.

The footsteps moved away toward the left of the crossroad.

She waited a while longer to make sure no one was following before setting off.

Then she faintly heard voices coming from the direction the soldiers came from.

“Superpower… capability… meaning…”

Shiyu Ling focused her attention and could only catch a few words.

She checked her phone again, now it was 10:07 AM.

In this special dream, no image would appear without meaning; there must be corresponding information at the end of the three paths.

The soldiers patrolling from the center to the left would probably not come to the right side for a while.

Shiyu Ling decided to quickly explore the corridor she had entered first, and then return to the central path, which would be the route with the least chance of encountering the soldiers.

Another minute later, Shiyu Ling reached the end of this corridor.

At the end of the corridor was a heavy iron door with an iron-windowed opening above indicating it was a cell.

She peered through the bars and observed the inside of the room, which had no windows, only a single light on the ceiling.

The first thing Shiyu Ling saw was a child securely tied to a chair.

He had brown hair, wore a straitjacket with his arms crossed in front of his chest, the sleeves wrapped around his body several times and knotted behind him.

Heavy steel restraints immobilized various parts of his body, preventing the child from changing his position on the chair, only able to maintain a sitting posture.

The scene in front of her stirred bleak memories in Shiyu Ling’s heart, and she gritted her teeth, reminding herself this was not the Shiyu Research Institute.

She noticed there were two identical chairs in the room; another child was asleep on one, while the third chair was empty.

The brown-haired boy noticed the gaze from outside the door.

His eyes moved and he coldly looked towards Shiyu Ling.

“Who are you?”

Shiyu Ling touched her own lips.

“Ah, shouldn’t you introduce yourself before asking someone else’s name?”

“You are not a soldier.” The restrained boy examined her for a while and decided to give his name.

His tone was devoid of the vibrancy typical of youth.

“I am John Garcia.”

She recognized the name as she just dealt with a person of the same name last month, known in the city of the sky as…

“Ah?!

You are the Skull Leader?!”

That’s what the notorious gangster looked like as a child?!

In mid-2000, the city of the sky hadn’t yet been built, so this place… could it perhaps be a temporary shelter for superpower users?

Lost in thought, Shiyu Ling heard footsteps behind her, she cautiously turned around, seeing an approaching… humanoid creature.

She could only call it a humanoid creature, because this person was covered head to toe in darkness, making it impossible to see clearly.

The strange visitor’s body was shrouded in a mist the same as the fog that darkened the corridor, prompting her to ponder the connection between the two.

Even stranger was what the shadowy figure held in his hands: in his left, he clutched a half-eaten meat bun, while in his right, he carried several packed bags filled with food.

“Whoa, a new face!” the shadowy figure exclaimed in surprise, clearly a boy from his voice.

He raised the meat bun towards Shiyu Ling, speaking animatedly.

“Hello, Miss!

I just picked up some food from the lower-level cafeteria, and today they happened to have meat buns.

Would you like some?

I can give you one.”

He spoke neither too fast nor too slow, and his tone was calm.

She felt she had heard this manner of speaking somewhere before.

Shiyu Ling shook her head.

“May I ask who you are?”

The shadowy figure finished the meat bun in two bites and wiped his greasy hands with a napkin.

“You can drop the formalities, my surname is Yuan, but you can call me Yuankai.”
