Superhumans of the Dome City -
Chapter 266 - 266 29 Do Not Speak!
266: Chapter 29 Do Not Speak!
266: Chapter 29 Do Not Speak!
The time reached nighttime.
Weiyuan City’s residents were still busy tonight.
The senior members of the Martial Arts Association harbored their own thoughts, the spectators watched from a safe place on the sidelines, and a man who came by plane was busy with official duties.
They all had their own thoughts, occupied with their own careers.
Another kind of person was having an easier time: he simply listened to what Lord God said and did as told.
Tonight, the giant dragon worshippers were also rolling dice.
“It’s the end of another day, let’s see what the relationship between you two brings tonight.”
Dice roll[1d100:96]Major success
“Wow, the first critical strike in two days!
Joyous and congratulatory…” The giant dragon worshippers excitedly rubbed their hands, “Finally!
Lord Huojin God can reveal more of his power, and I can arrange some interesting stories for them!”
He swiftly wrote down several options on the paper.
1, 4, 7: A heartfelt conversation, followed by…
2, 5, 8: A casual chat with shared interests, followed by…
3: Encountered a hidden spring opened by the Hidden God
6: Intervention by Yidou Nengmai
9: Went astray into the Hidden God’s Lost Home
10: Great success/Great failure
The giant dragon worshipper joyfully threw a 10-sided dice: “Let’s see the next direction!” The ten-sided dice spun around and displayed the number 10.
Immediately after, a coin automatically jumped up and landed face-up with a “1” on the table.[1d10:10],[1d2:1].
“Oh my God, another great success.
Change requisite tables.
Lord Huojin God, do you want to compile options?
Okay, okay, I’ll just record.”
The long-haired man suddenly became nervous.
His hands speedily wrote another event table with dozens of different event unfoldings, including improbable developments like “The Seven Luminaries Divine Sect declares an all-out night raid,” “Hidden Gods from Qiongge Island invade the Martial Arts Association,” “Several Shiyus have lost control,” and “Hidden Law Master goes on a rampage,” with numerous repeated entries of “Shiyu Genmi dies violently,” which appeared to harbor animosity toward someone.
“Definitely happening, definitely happening.” The giant dragon worshipper murmured superstitiously a few times and threw a hundred-sided dice.
The near-spherical dice spun, and the number it finally displayed was golden 66.
66: Attempted Qi Observation by Gongsun Ce activated the power of Netherworld Eyes, and he encountered in his heart…
The giant dragon worshipper’s face turned greenish.
“Lord Huojin God, this, this… this seems unrelated to their relationship… Your follower is powerless to arrange the causal line involving You!” he almost pleaded, “Will You arrange it?
Understood, I’ll just record, I’ll just record.”
He listened intently for a while before slowly adding the first line before the options: “The wandering God’s bean sparked Gongsun Ce’s curiosity…”
–
In the central part of Purple Island, Sakura Town.
Sakura was a secluded small town with no famous products and no scenic spots, not even a railway station set up here that crosses the mid-southern part of Purple Island.
The weary trio walked for over two hours to reach the station, took nearly an hour’s bus to arrive at Sakura, planning to catch another bus to the next town the next morning, then catch the earliest train.
This was the shortest route planned by Qiluo after studying the map half a day, half the time she argued the route with Shiyu Ling, and the other half spent chatting with Rina about recent trends.
That afternoon Gongsun Ce encountered three more Hidden Gods: a ghost fire drifting in the wilderness (which was turned into a lantern and sent away with white material), a talking fire-spitting weasel (which was entertained by Slime transformed into a weasel and sent away), and a big bald man who suddenly jumped out to scare people (negotiated away by Rina after a while).
Four non-human creatures encountered in just one day made Gongsun Ce feel like he was starring in a new-concept sci-fi exorcising movie.
Unfortunately, the highest grade double room in the town inn could not compare to the guest rooms at Huangquan Shrine.
Just after washing up, Gongsun Ce lay on the bed, trying his best to ignore the sound of the shower in the bathroom.
He realized that he was getting used to being with this woman after just two days, which made him sadly reflect on human adaptability.
The gray-haired youth held a bean between his fingers, asking both Shiyu Ling and Rina in the last two days.
The former insisted it was just an ordinary red bean, and the latter said that the bean given by the wandering God might be richer in nutrients than ordinary beans.
He stared at it intently last night and didn’t notice anything miraculous.
Today, however, he felt the bean looked different than before.
The small bean remained red but now it seemed brighter…
“What in the world is Lord God thinking,” Gongsun Ce sighed.
“Heh, thinking about how to send monsters to kill you,” Shiyu Ling, who came out of the washroom with malice, continued the conversation.
To avoid repeating the awkward developments of the previous night, the superpower user immediately turned around and threw a black syringe from his suitcase.
“What’s this?” Shiyu Ling frowned as he caught it.
“A potent sedative, give me a shot if I go mad, and if that doesn’t work, call Mr.
Shiyu.”
Shiyu Ling mocked, “Funny, you expect me to save you?”
Assuming Gongsun Ce was doomed, Shiyu Ling staying alone in Zero Island wouldn’t bring any advantages.
If I go mad, you’ll be the first to suffer, a fact quite clear to the other party, so Gongsun Ce simply said, “Yes, I’m hoping for your kindness.” Shiyu Ling sat down on the bed, his expression fluctuating.
The superpower user said no more, silently pondering today’s events.
He believed his encounters this morning matched the so-called “misfortune,” yet the latter half of the day bore no significant danger.
The purpose-unknown Sakura Dance clearly had no intention of a death fight, and several Hidden Gods were just minor nuisances easily dispatched.
Did his bad luck run its course?
Just half a day of bad luck?
Gongsun Ce thought of the bean again, thought of Mirror Woman’s House, thought of the persistent gray coat-tails, and finally pondered the Seventh Knight’s admonition.
Many things you can’t understand, a deal must be made even at a loss.
If freeing Mirror Woman’s House was also a “deal,” then he must have also received something.
“!”
Gongsun Ce opened his eyes and looked up at his ceiling.
This could relate to his “bad luck” in the afternoon, the “connection” mentioned by the Hidden Gods!
He stared hard with his eyes, concentrating and trying to perceive something from the ceiling, out of thin air.
“Have you gone mad already?” “Quiet, I’m observing Qi.”
Gongsun Ce muttered terms like Huojin, Zhi Pi, and vortex in his mind, but sadly, he couldn’t discern anything.
“Can’t make out anything, I’ll sleep.” In the midst of the woman’s mocking laughter, he closed his eyes, and at that moment—
He saw a line.
A very fine line, as if rising from the crown of his head, connecting to the infinitely high distance.
The line entwined with a thin grey light, which slowly drifted, passing through the ceiling, following the line upwards into the sky.
Gongsun Ce vividly felt his eyelids close, yet his “vision” persisted.
His sight extended beyond his mental control, expanding at an indescribable speed.
His “eyes” seemed to soar higher and farther, allowing him to see the entirety of the town, the Purple Island sunk into the sea, and the three islands of Zero Island.
Countless fine lines rose from the three islands, densely interlinked with something above.
The view continued upward until he finally saw where the lines ended.
It was a swirl of light.
Grey and golden lights spun around at a towering height, forming a vortex as massive as a tidal wave.
The vortex of light enveloped Zero Island, numerous lines hanging from the light, a bicolor radiance circulated between the heaven and earth, completing some secret cycle.
The grandeur of the scene halted all human thoughts.
The physical magnitudes shattered the frail human capacity to think.
He felt as though an invisible hand was squeezing him, his eyeballs burning as if they might fall out.
His body, his soul, everything was about to merge into the light—
In an instant, his vision retracted back into his body, bringing him back into the room.
He saw his body, undisturbed, as if peacefully asleep.
Then, his vision continued to plunge deep inside himself, the Spirit Light consciously triggered, he arrived at the starting point of seven paths, his vision forcibly dragging him down one.
He completed the path in the blink of an eye, surpassing its end, reaching deeper.
“My heavens…”
Gongsun Ce clutched his chest, gasping heavily.
By now, he had regained control over his spirit, but the shock he experienced had not diminished.
He could no longer concern himself with thoughts of vortexes and lines; his current priority was getting out of this cursed place.
He hadn’t seen which path he was on, but he was sure it wasn’t the Silent Phase, definitely not!
This place was as dark as the heart-sea without the lit Spirit Light.
He stood tremblingly, just about to turn when he sensed a human silhouette directly in front of him.
Someone was sitting before him.
In the moment that thought appeared, the person became clear.
The person hid half of his face with his long hair, revealing only one eye.
He was remarkably tall, yet his head was only the size of an average human.
He wore a grayish-white wide robe and a tall gray hat, his face deathly pale as if his body had never had blood flow through it.
The odd man’s single eye moved.
He opened it wide, staring straight at Gongsun Ce, his eyes more perplexed than a superpower user.
After a moment of silence, a terrified expression appeared on the face of the man in grey.
“No no no no no no no no—!!” He let out a piercing scream, high and thin, resembling a child who had just seen a ghost!
“How could you come here?!”
Gongsun Ce, bewildered, began, “I…”
Before he could even speak, the man in grey, with his shrill voice, yelled, “Don’t talk!
Don’t think!
Don’t do anything, please!!
Don’t arouse my emotions!!
I’m scared!!!”
“Your Spirit Light is too weak!
Your mind will be assimilated by mine!!”
Not talking was one thing, but not thinking was much harder.
Thoughts are ever-present in everyone’s mind, even during sleep, with subconscious activity.
Under such conditions, how could he possibly stop thinking…
The man in grey frantically said, “Try not to think!
Imagine, imagine you’re a drop of water!
A water droplet flowing down a rock!!
Hurry!
Don’t make me scared!!”
The strange man’s expression became increasingly terror-stricken, and by the end, his voice almost pierced Gongsun Ce’s eardrums.
Yet the unintentional air he exuded was in stark contradiction to his timid expression.
This felt completely unlike any “strong figure” he’d encountered; the oppressive aura from this cowardly oddity was so terrifying, it could match the overwhelming vortex that covered a nation!
With the shrill scream of the man in grey, the empty dark space violently shook.
Gongsun Ce immediately did as told.
He exerted all his power to imagine himself as a water droplet, sliding down a rough rock.
The rock was large, his sliding very slow, extremely slow.
“Good, just like that.
Good boy.
You’re too weak; you must do this.”
“Maintain the water droplet imagery, answer my question with the shortest thoughts,” the man in grey’s voice trembled, his voice too sharp to distinguish gender, “What, did you, do?”
Look.
Water droplet slides.
“Look.
Of course.
You looked.
What did you see?”
Vortex.
Water droplet drips.
“More detail.
Think gently, not too loudly.”
Vortex flow.
Drip.
“Ssss…” the water droplet heard a gasp, “The cycle of gold and grey?
Huojin’s vortex?”
Yes.
Sliding down the rocky wall.
“You poor fool!
No wonder you triggered my power!” Screamed, “You gazed directly at the King of Destiny’s Huojin Realm!!”
The water droplet could no longer hold.
