Superhumans of the Dome City -
Chapter 131 - 131 39 The Red Lion
131: Chapter 39: The Red Lion 131: Chapter 39: The Red Lion The gunshot rang out, and the top hat fluttered.
What on earth happened?
To answer that, we need to rewind the seconds hand by five ticks…
The time comes to five seconds earlier.
Three hundred meters away from the “negotiation site” in the middle of the street, atop a high-rise, a blond-haired punk lay prone holding an old-fashioned handgun!
He was aiming!
Not with a sniper rifle, nor did he have a scope; instead, he aimed the muzzle of the small handgun at a target three hundred meters away, posing as if to aim like a child oblivious of their own limitations.
Could he see clearly?
No problem!
Both his left and right eyes had been replaced with high-tech artificial eyes, giving him dynamic vision far surpassing that of hawks and falcons.
Not only could he see the people’s positions, but he could also discern the tips of hair stirred by the wind!
“…”
He waited in silence.
The Lion and the Boss were negotiating; he did nothing; the Boss walked away, the Lion handed the target a cellphone; he did nothing; the Boss raised his hand; the Boss used his power, the target suddenly vanished, a blaze of fire swept up from behind the Lion’s arm, pushing the unseen person out—
Now was the time.
“Exploding bullet.”
He pulled the trigger.
Bang!
The bullet shot out from the barrel, piercing through the Lion’s body!
Almost simultaneously as the bullet tip dug into the ground, what followed was…
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
The deafening roars echoed continuously, three in total.
A single bullet caused three consecutive explosions, and the horrifying black smoke and flames engulfed the street, sending a top hat soaring into the air with the blast wave!
Was it a high-tech bullet?
A weapon modified by the scientists in white coats?
No!
A second before, this bullet was just an ordinary mass-produced item, its power coming from the gunman himself—his superpower to empower bullets!
“Elemental Bullet.”
The blond gunman leaped up from his position, the handgun shook three times, and he fired three shots in rapid succession.
The howling winds scattered the dust and smoke, raising dozens of sharp wind blades; the flashing lightning, the surging ice-wind, the elemental energies bursting from the bullets once again dealt a merciless blow to a wide area, even affecting the dead bodies within its reach.
The Dragon of the Vaulted Sky descends!
The place that was once a bustling street had been wrought with destruction too horrific to witness, like a battlefield that had just been bombed.
All of this, caused by four bullets shot by a superpower user who didn’t even have a “name.”
What a terrifying superpower, how powerful the Wing of Death, what a fearsome force!
The Red Lion’s strength, although great, was still confined to a mortal body.
Having been shot through and then subjected to such a range of attacks, not even his ashes were likely to remain.
Among the bystanders hiding at a distance, many thought this.
But what did the man behind it all, the gunman himself, think?
“…!”
He didn’t offer any opinion!
No gestures of victory!
No curse words!
He didn’t even have time for a deep breath!
His high-tech artificial eyes transmitted the scene on the street with utmost clarity to his nervous system.
Not finding the opponent’s body, he knew what it meant!
A bead of sweat fell from his forehead; the body’s heat regulation mechanism turned into the most reliable warning sign.
With feet pressed to the ground, he leaped from the rooftop; almost the very instant he jumped, a massive red streak of light burst from beneath the ground, piercing through the entire building like a mini volcanic eruption!
Was it the Red Lion’s retaliation upon discovering him?
No!
No!
No!
Just as the gunman’s attack aftermath had destroyed the street, what now forced him to flee with his life was also the “aftermath” of an attack—similar pillars of fire rose at the base of every building, like ancient stakes piercing through prisoners.
The spewing fire flowed backward, sweeping through the streets, pouring into every alley and side road near the main path, coating everything in an intensely hot base color.
The high temperature filled the world, flames engulfed everything.
The air twisted, buildings melted, the ground boiled, all was wiped away as if in purgatory on earth.
“30, 29, 28, 27.”
A harsh female voice appeared out of nowhere, accompanied by four screams.
Four humanoid shapes rushed out of the alley, both their clothes and bodies ablaze with roaring flames, turning into bright human torches!
The Wing of Death’s four elites couldn’t accomplish anything; they became charred crisps amidst the aftermath of what could barely be called an attack, and they fell to the ground!
But…
Oh, heavens!
Dragon Disaster descends!
These four people were still breathing, not yet dead!
To escape from flames hot enough to turn buildings into lava and still hang onto a thread of life—this was not something that could be explained by mere luck; the only explanation that both friends and foes could think of was—
“Phew, just lie down in the hospital, will you?”
Mercy!
For a warrior, this was an insult far worse than any humiliation!
Even though the initiating superpower users had no warrior’s pride, they still acted this way!
She was relaxed and easygoing, her tone indifferent, seemingly not taking the matter to heart at all, as if with this action, she was declaring to everyone:
You are no match for me!
The thirty streaks of darkness in the sky faded to four, the gunman landed haphazardly, rolling twice on the burning pavement, his clothes and hair ignited by the high temperature.
The flames and magma utterly destroyed everything within sight.
The Red Lion couldn’t find his other targets; the intense power, under someone’s control, surged towards the origin of the conflict, coalescing into a shining humanoid figure—white shirt, black checkered skirt, golden short hair, and a confident smile.
She extended her hand, catching the descending top hat, and placed it back on her head.
Kaldesia reverted to human form from the flames.
“Exploding bullet!”
Three hundred meters away, the gunman pulled the trigger.
The bullet hadn’t yet hit its mark when it encountered a spark en route, triggering a premature explosion.
Boom!
An explosion erupted midair, bringing a new surge of light and heat.
The flames produced in the blast condensed into an extremely thin beam, shooting out towards both ends—one end piercing into a fiery heap by the street, thickening into a robust line of fire, eventually reaching the feet of the Red Lion; the other end aimed at the ruins of the tall building, merging with the still-burning inferno!
Kaldesia Spencer stepped onto the line of fire, and her body instantly melted into a burning crimson red, using the “line”‘s connection to throw herself into the distant flame.
“!”
The blond gunman immediately turned towards the rubble, but it was too late!
The girl emerged from the raging fires, as solid as ever, wearing the hat she so cherished, looking exactly as she did when she first appeared from the flames!
“It’s been a while since I’ve had a fight…” a small flame ignited at the tip of her finger, “I didn’t even get the chance to transform the hat with fire, almost burned it.”
What on earth had happened?
That statement was enough to inform a student well-versed in superpower knowledge of everything.
Kaldesia Spencer had turned her body and clothing into flames, thus avoiding the initial sniper shot!
And how much time did this series of startling changes take in the real world?
The answer was, 5 seconds!
In just 5 seconds, the Red Lion had defeated four of Wing of Death’s elites, and now she was about to take down the fifth.
This was the reason Kaldesia could become one of the disasters of this city with merely her fire superpower—destructive power, speed, and control, a superpower user with no weaknesses at all!
“…”
The blond gunman remained silent.
The Red Lion shook her head in disappointment.
“Still street fighting in college, how foolish is that?”
The gunman raised his pistol.
“Sorry, big sis Lion,” his voice was deep with not a hint of remorse, “I want to get out.”
At this moment, he once again referred to her as the Lion.
“Elemental Bullet!” The gunman pulled the trigger, sending a faint blue light from the barrel towards the girl’s head.
The spark on her fingertip surged dramatically, a blaze of flames erupted, incinerating the last bullet.
The flames enveloped the gunman, melting the pistol into molten metal, and the gunman fell to the ground with a thud.
The blonde whispered again, “Sorry…”
“Still thinking about getting out.
You’re better off staying in the city, quit dreaming.”
The fifth beam of black light dissipated, leaving 25 feathers remaining.
As Kaldesia Spencer nonchalantly responded to her foe, a purple-black light burst from the collapsing debris of the building!
“Death Charge!”
Unbelievably, it was the sixth enemy charging from outside the burnt zone!
His speed was even faster than that of a racing car at full throttle!
There’s always a limit to a superpower user’s reaction time, being transformed into flames doesn’t make one invincible.
This simple, straightforward blow, if it landed, would have rendered the girl powerless to resist any further.
Even if you don’t die, I’ll have you half-dead!
The man in black roared in his heart, yet the Red Lion simply extended her fist sideways.
“Burning Fireball.”
Fire exploded from her fist, a fireball with a diameter of 4 meters engulfed the enemy, and the black-clothed strong man, aflame, was flung into the air.
Such a ruthless reality, the enemy who prided himself on violent attacks was swiftly defeated by even purer violence!
Another strand of black light faded in the sky.
Turning to look, Dragon Disaster’s body had long melted in the flames, leaving only some mechanical remains—turns out the person Kaldesia had been speaking with was a high-precision simulation robot, how despicable!
Superpower User was not angry.
If Dragon Disaster had been a straightforward man, his abilities would have been much easier to deal with.
24 feathers remained.
The battle would only really begin when all the black lights had vanished.
Moreover, the minor nuisances were not over yet—a multitude of attacks came from a distance, as Wing of Death’s members launched another round of assaults while Kaldesia dealt with the strongman.
“Red Lion.”
Flame Group gathered behind her, morphing into a red-maned beast head, the fire lion raised its head towards the black light in the sky and let out an earth-shattering roar.
Thousands of flows of fire burst from the great mouth, searing everything that approached from afar to a crisp!
“Wow wow, hurry up.”
Kaldesia Spencer shook her hands, a wisp of purple-black light sparkled on the back of her hand, which had made contact with the attacker.
Nonchalantly, she lifted her hand, pressing down on her hat.
“Who’s next?”
·
At this moment, whether they were new recruits or seasoned veterans, all members of Wing of Death partaking in this operation felt an unspeakable emotion in their hearts.
They wanted to scream, to flee, to surrender.
Such feelings combined, resulting in a fear they would never forget.
So strong, too strong.
She was simply…
not on the same level!
This was one of the beings at the pinnacle of superpower users, the strongest energy emission type superpower user—the incendiary Red Lion, Kaldesia Spencer!
