Superhumans of the Dome City -
Chapter 130 - 130 38 Let's Start Right Now
130: Chapter 38 Let’s Start, Right Now 130: Chapter 38 Let’s Start, Right Now The man in blue left, and Kaldesia Spencer couldn’t bother with that matter right now.
She remembered the man had said something, but she couldn’t recall the words at the moment.
Her recent memory was a scattered mess; she believed she had seen something strange…
Yes, definitely something strange…
What was it?
The details had flown away, like a dream that had left no impression.
Her expression was dazed now, and she was in immense pain, resembling the morning after a bad hangover.
Kaldesia Spencer instinctively reached out, “Lianyi, give me a bottle of ice water…”
The young man in the suit was not beside her; the person she pointed at, Qiluo, had an odd expression.
Kaldesia’s face turned as red as her nickname, “—Don’t laugh!”
“Pfft…” The pink-haired idol stifled her laughter, “How are you feeling now?”
“My head is all muddled, but otherwise, I’m okay.” The woman in the hat looked at the middle schooler, “Hey!
Are you okay?
Remember your name?
Do you have any clue about what just happened?”
The middle schooler’s complexion didn’t look good, and she guessed her own face wasn’t much better.
“I’m still alive.
My name is Milais.
It was the song’s fault.
Damn it, I changed the song, and then this happened!”
Milais glanced at the playlist; the tracks following Xingli’s were all garbled.
He was certain the old man’s computer didn’t have these files, and he remembered he had never seen them before.
He gave up guessing; he knew he wouldn’t figure it out.
He shared everything he knew—the personal player, the man in blue, the unease after jailbreak, the sense of dissonance…
Milais concluded with this statement, “I assure you, these files weren’t in the computer before.”
The Red Lion issued a firm command without a doubt, “Milais, take that computer and come with me.
I’ll take you to the nearest school; the teachers will help you.
Qiluo, how much can you remember?
I feel like by now, you shouldn’t be completely in the dark about yourself.”
“Well…
I might have been an idol before…
and now I could be a hacker…”
Qiluo fiddled with the hem of her skirt, hesitating.
“That is, I think, I guess, I might have made a deal with the lab.”
Kaldesia sighed without words.
Oh God!
Another naive child trusting the white coats; she had seen too many of these people!
“Look on the bright side, Qiluo, at least your powers saved my life.”
The Wing of Death’s personal player likely contained something terrible; now she needed to find that man in blue.
From his dress, it was clear he was no simple character; she needed to be prepared.
She grabbed both of their arms without explanation and pulled them out of the small shop.
The old man with the big white beard stood at the door, having just returned from delivering pies, and was about to enter when their boldness startled him.
“What’s wrong, little Milais—little Kaldesia?” The old shopkeeper said in surprise, “What happened?”
Kaldesia knew this elder, his grandson had been in the same class as herself and Gongsun Ce.
“Old man, did you see a man in blue from the Empire?”
The elder shook his head.
“Okay, there might be a bit of a scuffle in a bit.”
That was enough to let a good citizen know what he should do.
“Be careful, kids.
Life is the most important.” The old man didn’t ask any more questions, including why they were taking his computer, “I’m going to hide inside.”
“Thanks for cooperating.”
She dragged the two away from the alley.
It was a bustling Saturday afternoon in the center district, mostly populated by young students.
She glanced around; among the varied passers-by, there was no sign of the man in blue.
She was good at destruction, but not at finding people; this time, she needed to ask someone familiar for help.
Kaldesia led them toward the nearest school entrance, just a few dozen meters from the alley.
“Qiluo, did Gongsun Ce ever tell you he had an older brother?”
“No way.”
“He’s good at finding people and he’s also a formidable hacker; we need to make a trip back to the Fixed Wing District first…”
She found Yuankai’s number in her contacts and pressed the call button.
Static filled the phone, and the communication signal seemed to be blocked.
“Wow, how cliché.”
Kaldesia pointed to the sky, “Hat.”
Boom!
A burst of flame shot from her fingertips, soaring into the sky.
The fire exploded above the street, creating a blazing top hat.
Onlookers silently watched the sky.
In an instant, everyone quickened their pace, with many beginning to run.
Passers-by rushed towards different side streets or turned around in panic, as if avoiding a terrifying beast.
A few people prepared to continue as planned but, after being reminded by those nearby, quickly fled.
In a blink, what was a bustling street became eerily silent.
Qiluo and Milais excitedly remarked something, but she paid no attention; she was preparing for battle, mainly mentally.
Her current state wasn’t great, not to mention it had been a while since she last fought.
It was quite coincidental, wasn’t it?
Ever since she adopted Lianyi, she hadn’t had a proper fight…
She felt that Lianyi must have secretly been up to a lot; she had no evidence, but she just thought so.
Kaldesia Spencer’s ears twitched; she stopped.
“Huff…
huff…”
Heavy breathing sounds emanated from the crowd, accompanied by the grating noise of metal on metal, as if deliberately asserting its presence.
A burly man who did not fit in appeared from among the crowd.
People tacitly avoided him as they moved away from the area, making him look like a rock that parted the waves from afar.
“Huff…
huff…”
The man moved against the current toward the trio.
He wore a skull-shaped metal mask, his gaze icy and glaring through the hollow eye sockets.
His limbs were equipped with silvery-white mechanical arms, and his torso was protected by black armor.
He looked less like a human and more like an autonomously operating mecha-soldier.
Milais murmured his name softly.
Kardesia swatted the high schooler on the head and pointed toward a nearby school.
Milais opened his mouth, as if to speak, but then lowered his head and blended into the crowd, walking away with everyone else.
The Skull did not speak to stop him.
Great, he wasn’t here for the portable music player.
Besides the amnesiac Qiluo, what else could have brought him here to provoke him?
The leader of the Wing of Death stopped five meters away.
By then, the street was almost empty, save for a few audacious Superpower Users hiding in alleys, casting peering glances.
The Skull’s voice was burly and hoarse.
“Kaldesia Spencer.”
Kaldesia was undaunted.
“If it isn’t the Skull.
Haven’t seen you in a while.”
The man known as the Skull did not look at her.
His gaze was fixed on Kaldesia’s side, his chilling scrutiny making Qiluo shudder.
“If you’re trying to flirt, a cute remark would do.
Staring silently doesn’t make you look cool, just like a creep.”
Kaldesia stepped forward, shielding Qiluo from the Skull’s gaze.
“I want to take her with me.
Name your price.”
Upon hearing this, Qiluo almost screamed.
Keep your distance, do not get too involved.
Why such a rule?
Because no one knows when they might be in danger.
Such rules weren’t good…
She argued with herself internally, lacking conviction.
But we are Superpower Users, our primary concern is to stay alive.
Her own logic left her speechless.
These past few days had been quite pleasant, even though the lost memories made her uneasy and it took a while to fall asleep at night.
She enjoyed a carefree life and got along well with the friends she’d made.
The Wing of Death was terrifying.
It was time to keep away from everyone.
It was not too late yet.
Be brave and step out.
Let’s not endanger friends because of her issues.
She stepped forward from behind her friends, biting her lip, “I—”
“Don’t even think about it.”
Kaldesia roughly pulled the girl back.
She emphasized sternly, “If there’s nothing else, then leave; I’m busy.”
The Skull walked up to her, reaching her face.
“Final offer.” He spat out the price through clenched teeth, “One spot.”
“I’m pretty comfortable living here.” She gave the finger, “Start a war, or get lost.”
The Skull sighed deeply.
He turned around, increasing the distance between them, seemingly retracting after deep contemplation, giving up, and distancing himself from the conflict.
Would Kaldesia think so?
Something was shoved into Qiluo’s hand—Kaldesia’s cell phone.
She heard her friend whisper softly, “Qiluo, make yourself disappear.”
Instinctively, Qiluo did so.
At the same moment, she saw the Skull stop, stretch out his hands, and heard his malice-filled declaration—
“The Skull sheds thirty feathers.”
Thirty streaks of black light shaped like flying feathers rose in the sunlight.
A gunshot rang out on the plain, and a top hat flew into the air.
