Superhero Class: Finding Meaning of Life in another world -
Chapter 76: looming threat
Chapter 76: looming threat
After absorbing the Crystal Exoskeleton Skill of the two-headed anacondas, his Suit of Righteousness and Eternal Valor reached 90% completion. Just a slight push and it would reach level 2.
"Fuck yeah!"
He had already thrown Samuel Blackangel to the back of his mind and focused on the situation at hand.
"Wait a minute, I also got a skill as a reward for saving this guy... let’s see... hope it is something good."
Dawn went through all the notifications that he had ignored, and his eyes finally landed on a particular window shimmering in blue light.
[Iron Bones Level 1
Grade - Rare
The calcium bones will slowly strengthen until they are as strong as solid iron.]
Dawn frowned. Iron Bones? That’s it? He flexed his fingers, wondering if strengthening his bones to iron would actually help. Could be useful... but is it worth keeping? Then, the Synergy prompt appeared, offering to fuse it into his class skill.
This was also the advantage of having a class; unlike the acquired skills which needed rigorous effort and time, class skills could be easily leveled up by simply sacrificing other skills.
He didn’t hesitate long. A stronger suit means more survivability. With a thought, he let the system absorb it, feeling a wave of warmth surge through his body as his armor evolved.
A pulse of heat washed over Dawn as his suit glowed a deep, molten orange. He felt the fibers tighten, reinforcing themselves with an almost metallic rigidity, yet they still moved as smoothly as silk. His skin tingled as a faint energy shield spread over him, and a strange emptiness settled around him. He glanced at his hand—it was fading, blending into the mist.
Stealth...? Now this is interesting.
A window displaying the new info also appeared in front of him.
[Suit of Righteousness and Eternal Valor Level - 2]
[Skill description - What is a superhero without a suit? Forged from the heart of the Nascent universe, this suit grows along with you.]
[Effect 1 - Protects your identity and fate from being spied upon by anyone.
Effect 2 - Absolute defense from anyone one level higher than you; no attack of Gold Grade Warrior can harm you.
Effect 3 - Flying. Added stealth, while not in motion, the user can become invisible.]
The result didn’t disappoint him; he immediately felt more secure. In the future, dealing with stronger opponents, he could be even more unbridled and unreasonable.
Dawn started grinning from ear to ear.
....
It was time to go back.
Dawn’s eyes flashed with cold light. "Flowing swamp, just you wait. When I return the next time, it will be the end for all of you."
Slowly his figure started to fade until he completely disappeared.
The two-headed anacondas who were keeping an eye on Dawn’s figure finally sighed when they saw him disappearing.
This glowing human had terrorized them, filling each and every single one of them with constant fear.
They didn’t even dare to breathe loudly, worried the human might notice them. The only thing they could do was hide deep in the swamp and hope the calamity would quickly leave.
And when Dawn finally left, they immediately celebrated.
.....
Central area of Poisonous Swamp.
Four figures, one man and three women, were sitting around a round table with solemn expressions. Each of these figures exuded the aura of Peak Gold rank warriors.
The pressure in the room made the air palpitate in fear.
The three women radiated charm of their own. Sitting in the middle was a woman dressed in a simple one-piece dress; she was beautiful as a goddess with a face colder than ice, her eyes devoid of any emotions as she gazed into the air.
This woman was none other than the leader of the Charming Ghost organization, local overlords.
The other two women, one with a head full of orange hair dressed in a crimson robe, while the second dressed in graceful white, didn’t seem concerned about her and happily chatted while pointing fingers at the sole male in the room, snickering from time to time.
The woman in crimson was the leader of the Truth Seeker organization which Mrs. Jenkins belonged to, while the woman in white was an independent Gold rank warrior with considerable influence.
If Dawn was here in this room, he would easily recognize the sole male sitting here.
The man was none other than the Flowing Swamp organization leader.
At this time, the leader’s face was blacker than charcoal.
He hated coming to this meeting to his core.
’Fucking hell, are all male newbies so incompetent?’
The leader cursed in his heart while ignoring the two women’s mocking words.
"Did you hear, my sister? He almost cried when... hehe."
The Flowing Swamp organization leader could only curse. Although all four of them were at the Gold rank, the difference between him and these three women was huge.
The leader could silently endure, the hate that he felt for Dawn increasing every passing moment.
Ahem!
Suddenly, the woman seated in the middle cleared her throat.
Immediately, the two women stopped talking, and serious expressions appeared on their faces.
"The Dragon Heart Station has rejected our plea," the woman said, her voice cold. "No Mythical warrior will grant us protection."
The room tensed. Even the Flowing Swamp leader, usually arrogant, clenched his fists.
"We will have to face the tide alone."
Silence. Then, the woman in white exhaled. "How bad is it?"
"The scouts reported movement—massive clusters of abyssal creatures converging in the outer swamps. If we don’t stop them now, in a few weeks, the Poisonous Swamp will be overrun."
The air felt heavier. They all knew what that meant. If the swamp fell, their power would collapse with it.
Her words were like two bolts of thunder in a clear blue sky, shocking the three listeners to their core.
"How dare they? Didn’t we fulfill all of their demands?" The Flowing Swamp leader cried out while feeling betrayed. If the Mythical rank warrior didn’t grant them protection, surviving the tide was next to impossible.
The faces of the two women were no different than the face of the leader.
Just as they were feeling shocked, the woman in the middlle continued.
"I will think of some other way. Till then, we have to delay the tide as much as possible."
"Lead your men to fight; don’t let the numbers of monsters increase."
.....
The discussion lasted for some time, and after a while, the meeting ended.
While the Flowing Swamp leader was exiting the building, a disdainful voice came from the front.
"Do you need the protection of big sisters? The Red-caped Demon might be waiting for you outside."
Hearing those words, the leader’s face stiffened and a vein popped on his forehead.
"Damn you two bitches!"
