Superhero Class: Finding Meaning of Life in another world -
Chapter 55: Did your heart not shake in fear?
Chapter 55: Did your heart not shake in fear?
Dawn’s perception shifted, and when he opened his eyes again, he was back in the room.
Immediately, a sense of calm washed over his body as if he had returned to his one true home.
As time passed, Dawn had started to like the Eternal battlefield more than the real world.
Unlike other Awakeners who were here to fight life and death battles, he could come and go as he pleased, without any worry.
For him, the Eternal battlefield was the place where he could be at ease. Here he was truly free.
Just as he was about to get up, Dawn noticed a sharp tingling sensation in the back of his head.
"A warning from the superhero Danger sense skill?"
Dawn frowned while looking at his surroundings with narrowed eyes.
"Could it be the Flowing Swamp organization finally decided to make a move?"
However, soon his thoughts were interrupted by a crimson window that appeared in front of him out of nowhere without any warning.
[Chance of death in next few minutes: 50%]
Before he could understand why his life was suddenly in a dangerous position, the crimson red window flashed a couple of times in succession.
[Chance of death in next few minutes: 60%]
What the hell was happening? His eyes darted around, senses sharpening.
[Chance of death in next few minutes: 70%]
Dread crawled up his spine. The number was still rising.
Under Dawn’s shocked gaze, his chance of death rose by tens of percentage points, finally stopping when it reached close to 90%.
At this point, it wasn’t just chance; if he didn’t handle the situation carefully, he might really die.
"Someone could threaten my life to this extent?"
Suddenly feeling such a strong sense of crisis, a strange emotion started to rise in Dawn’s heart.
Badum!
Beneath the flaming symbol on his chest, his heart filled with mysterious energies trembled violently.
The nameless rage that had arisen in his mind was suddenly scattered into nothingness, everything returning to calm.
Dawn’s eyes regained their clarity and brightness.
"No, I can’t sit still and wait to die like a helpless chicken. That was the old me—the one who could do nothing but endure. That weakness died the day I stepped into this world."
Without wasting another second, he immediately stormed out of the room, leaving an afterimage scattering behind.
In just a few moments, Dawn reached the exit.
"Awakeners of Flowing Swamp organization..."
Fully armed warriors of Flowing Swamp organization were pouring into the hallway in large numbers.
Dawn’s appearance was really eye-catching because of the fluttering cape.
Immediately, he felt strong killing intent converging on his body.
The atmosphere in the hall turned suffocating. The owner of the hotel, a plump middle-aged man, hurriedly came running from his office noticing the commotion.
The owner was a shrewd man with years of experience; he immediately guessed the ins and outs of the matter.
He didn’t care either about the Red-Caped Demon or Flowing Swamp organization; the owner just wanted to keep his little hotel out of trouble.
Maybe the years of living in comfort and luxury had gotten to his head, and he had forgotten about the famous saying:
When the gods fight, mortals suffer!
"Hehe... Kind gentlemen, we can resolve this grudge using dia—"
The Manager tried to attract everyone’s attention, but no one paid any heed.
Suddenly, the tension in the air reached a dangerous degree, then loud roars filled with bloodthirst echoed.
"Surround this midget from all sides, don’t let him escape!"
"We must bring justice to our brothers!"
The entire hall was lit up by dozens of skills being fired at the same time.
Booooom!
Dawn indifferently glanced at the scorchingly hot fireball, almost as big as a football, moving in his direction.
"If you think this is going to be enough, then you need to think again..."
Without him realizing, as if following his instinct, Dawn’s eyes turned bright red like two bright suns.
A searing heat built behind Dawn’s eyes. The world turned red. Then—light exploded from his gaze, twin beams slicing through the air like divine judgment.
Boooom!
The fireballs which were just a few meters away from blasting into his face were cleanly sliced into two equal parts by the fiery red beam and disappeared in mid-air like a puff of smoke.
"This! How is this possible?" The warrior who had poured all his mana into casting that single attack felt his heart shake in fear.
The sight in front of him was unbelievable.
Suddenly, the man felt two fiery divine swords turn toward him.
Just as the beams of Nine Abyss Nascent Laser Eyes were just a few inches away from his body, the scorching heat from the laser heated the blood flowing through the man’s veins to a terrifying degree.
The air rippled with heat.
His veins glowed a searing red, his body convulsing as the blood inside him boiled.
A strangled scream—then, with a sickening pop, his body ruptured into a mist of crimson steam, sending blood flying in every direction; however, before it could hit the ground, it turned into particles of mana and scattered.
Leaving behind a single grey crystal falling on the ground.
The situation escalated too quickly and too fast; the other guys from the organization were barely able to react to their comrade’s death.
Dawn felt the unknown imaginary chains binding his figure loosen.
Was he being too cold and ruthless?
Such a thought never crossed his mind. Did he do anything to provoke these people? No, all the people present in this hall came of their own free will.
So why should he show any mercy!
Mercy? That was a privilege for those who had never faced helplessness, who had never been prey.
The other guests who were watching this scene from afar cried out in horror.
"Oh, my God, someone just died!"
"Who is this guy? How can he be so cruel? To kill the members of his own race in such cold blood, does he not have a heart at all?" A soft-hearted lady cried out.
The layer of fat on the hotel owner’s face jiggled in an unnatural way as he took a sharp breath while looking at the entrance wall which had crumbled to bits.
Dawn ignored everyone’s reaction, his cold eyes filled with a slight hint of madness locking onto his enemies’ figures.
"How dare you even think of targeting me, the Red-Caped Demon?"
"Did your heart not shake in fear?"
Dawn murmured in a low voice as if he was talking to himself.
